Professor Julio Sanhaço teaches Capoeira in Central London three times a week. Capoeira is one of the most athletic and agile forms of martial art in the world. It is a combination of dance, fighting and gymnastics. I particularly enjoy Julio’s classes as he breaks down the basics and takes the class slow enough for beginners to grasp. You learn Portuguese and how to play the traditional instruments synonymous with the capoeira play(the Roda). The beginners are mixed in with the advanced and everyone helps each other. The way Julio teaches capoeira gives you a great social way of increasing fitness, coordination and confidence. Thursdays classes take place at, Thanet Youth and Community Centre, Herbert Street, NW54HP. The nearest tube is Chalk Farm.
