Chrysos Hotel

I believe you have to rate companies based on not only their product and service but also their pricing level. You could either rate a place like this is 2 stars by comparing them to a 5-​star hotel, or you can rate them considering how cheap it is and how convenient it is the next to Paddington station. That said:
The place was not bad. The single room was very tiny but I already knew that coming in. The only thing that sucked was the shower in the bathtub the ceiling had an alcove, for lack of better term, so it was s little inconvenient for a tall person like me (6 feet) to be able to shower comfortably. The breakfast was fine. The front desk was friendly.
But mainly it is a great priced hotel about 500 yards from Paddington station. So if like me you’re flying out of Heathrow by taking Heathrow express out of Paddington station then this place will serve your needs for night.

I booked at the Chrysos as I arrived in London for a single night stay and needed to be near Paddington for an early morning Heathrow Express train. What I gained in location/​convenience, I gave up in comfort.
While the hotel and front desk staff were very helpful, polite and accommodating, the rest of my experience was rough. Across the board, the hotel just needs some updating. If they took as much pride in the comfort of guests as they do in their service, it would easily be a 3+ star experience.
The pros:
Nice front desk staff, accommodating and polite.
Convenient location.
Didn’t have the breakfast, but saw it on my way out and the spread looked pleasant.
I’ve noticed that the staff often responds to guest comments online, engaging on even the toughest issues. That is the mark of good management.
Other reviews said there was no tea/​coffee in the rooms, but mine had some and it was fine.
Wifi worked.
Radiator worked fine.
Lots of stairs but the lift worked fine.
The cons:
Mattresses and pillows were flat, springy and uncomfortable. Not a great night sleep.
The bathroom floor was sticky.
Not a lot/​any air circulation in the room and my only window opened on to a rooftop that connected to other rooftops lining the street… meaning I could not leave my window open at night as someone literally could crawl right into my room. There should be a protective bar on the window so guests can leave windows open. Was a stifling evening as a result.
Linens were old and curtains were in desperate need of updating (torn and dirty).
This is an economy priced hotel that has many benefits for low-​maintenance travelers. If you need to wake up refreshed and prefer more of the modern conveniences of other hotels, probably best to book elsewhere, even in a different part of town.

Das Chrysos Hotel ist ein einfaches Hotel mit typisch britischem Flair.
Die Nähe zum Hyde Park und zur Paddington Station macht es gerade für Städtereisende auf einem Kurztrip interessant, die nicht so hohe Ansprüche an das Hotel, sondern eher an die Lage stellen. Per Underground, aber auch per Zug ist das Hotel gut zu erreichen.
Die Zimmer sind einfach, waren aber sauber.
Für londoner Verhältnisse sind sie in Ordnung. Frühstück wurde Continental oder British geboten.
Es war keine kulinarische Offenbarung aber in Ordnung. Das Personal an der Rezeption war freundlich und konnte alle meine Fragen beantworten. Fazit:
Erschwingliches Hotel in zentraler Lage für Touristen die keinen Glaspalast suchen und auf ihrem London-​Kurztrip etwas Flair spüren möchten.
