Comfortable ambience with wide selection of baked goods and drinks. Coffee is fresh and tasty!

My favorite study/catch up/reading café in Covent Garden! I love the intimate mom and pop feel it has, especially when in London you are constantly surrounded by Pret and Nero. Adorable couches and chairs arranged in the café as well as table space. There is also seating downstairs, but I’ve never sat there as the ground floor was never packed or filled. They have excellent quiches and sandwich assortments as well if you want to grab a light lunch with your coffee.

A little pre-theater cuppa, you say? Double Shot, on the double! We were a bit early to our matinée performance(go see Kinky Boots, so fun!) at The Adelphi — and thus in search of a little coffee and comfort. A quick Unilocal app search led me away from the multiple chains on The Strand(Pret, ew) — and just a 2 minute walk to Double Shot Coffee. Perfect. Within minutes we were nestled on a nice leather sofa with peppermint tea and a flat white, watching the hustle and bustle of the area. As it was raining and a Saturday afternoon it was very busy, but not chaotic. The guys behind the counter were efficient and friendly and everyone was getting what they needed. They have a great assortment of toasties, pastries, cookies, bottled drinks, etc as well. I was very tempted by those chocolate tarts but abstained, please don’t make the same mistake. They looked amazing! *cards accepted. *good for a catch-up/date. *toilets downstairs. *free wifi.

Decent flat white, dry but tasty cake. Service was brusque. Wifi was plentiful. I curled up in the window and researched my next stop and how to get there. I suppose one could do worse(it was very quiet on a weekday afternoon).

Cozy, friendly. I really liked this place. Had a fantastic Americano outside. My pastry was a bit underwhelming(dry), but still a great coffeeshop.

A very comfortable and cozy place to simply chill by yourself with a good book, nice tea and tasty treats or chat with some friends. Nice staff and a relaxed atmosphere make this small neighborhood café a nice little place to hang out while not being far away from the action of downtown London.

Small coffee shop in the theatre district. Which had a blackboard out the front which advertised the«Best coffee in London» which is a tall order to match. Whilst the coffee was fine I would hardly validate their claim of the best in London. I could tell going in that that only offered light bites and no hot food past pannini’s etc. I asked at the counter what pannini’s they had to which the guy simply pointed behind me without even talking, which I found quite rude. Then I saw a big fridge with plastic wrapped pannini’s so clearly not made on premises and lacking a little personal touch. I’d expect this from Costa or Starbucks but not a little independent. Also the prices were a little over the top £4.85 for a hamd and cheese, yes I know London is pricey but still for a simple sandiwhc like that I would struggle to justify the price. The café itself is pleasant, but nothing astounding. Coupled with the service I wouldn’t return in a hurry next time I take a trip to the city. There are far better cafes about.

Ok so this is a place that will split opinions. The coffee is fine as opposed to great and the food is much theb same mediocre. The place is cozy and nice to be but you have to be upstairs as if you are relegated to down stairs(and yes there is one) it is by the toilet and the free Wi-Fi signal doesn’t reach down there so not very good. All in all it is a fine place to take a quick break but the thing is there are many others in this area so why compromise? Very much a «-B» place. Could be great but only if it’s not crowded and you get to sit upstairs. Alternatively just take out but the coffee and food isn’tb really worth it.

At a whopping £3,10 for a takeaway mocha I was expecting something decent. Yes, there is a price premium for the location but still, I’d hoped for more. It wasn’t bad but wasn’t great either. Mediocre. Pretty shop so maybe sitting would have felt better value but despite officially closing at half six, I was told they really shut shop at six so I’d need to be out by quarter past. Hence the takeaway. Next time I’ll head to Notes.

This is literally the WORST coffee shop I have ever been to. The coffee tastes terrible, the pastries are flat and old, and everything is overpriced. All of this pales in comparison to the rudeness of the owner, who absolutely ruined my experience on what was supposed to be a relaxing Easter Monday. I went into the coffee shop at 3:15 with a friend, spending about 20 quid total throughout the next 3 hours on tea, coffee, fruit and pastries. Sitting downstairs in the basement, there was nobody around. The upstairs was vacant as well. The owner came downstairs at 6pm, rudely«tsked» at us, demanding we leave and«give him his table back.» Shocked, we picked up our things and went upstairs to leave. I went to him to explain that we felt we were treated rudely and he claimed we were there for 4 hours buying nothing but a pot of tea. I explained we’d been there for 2 and a half hours and more than bought our way in at about 20 quid. I also explained that we are fine to go but would prefer he treat us respectfully and speak kindly. He went on the offensive, demanded we leave the coffee shop and never come back. DONOTEVERGOTODOUBLESHOT. RUDERUDERUDE!

Starbucks, the British style. We were looking for a nice tea place and we found it. Various kinds of tarts, scones, and other bakeries alongside with coffee and see.

Lovely place, always happy if we can get a table here(which is not always as its popular!). Homely, genuine, good food, nice selection of teas, coffees and others. We had lovely sandwiches and the most amazing dark chocolate tart thing with a disk of chocolate in the middle. omg I don’t even have that sweet a tooth but this was goooood. Try it if you see it.

I hesitated to mark this as ‘budget’ in case that implied a lack of style, but the prices here are such good value for such a nice place. Double Shot is welcoming, comfortable, and unpretentious with nice staff and lovely food and drink. The seating is comfortable and the food fresh; I had a lovely spinach and goats cheese tart at just £3.50 and we shared a cherry tart that was so good I couldn’t put a price on it(ok, I just can’t remember!). There are so many cafes around Covent Garden that it can be a hit-and-miss affair(too many of the bland, over-priced tourist traps that don’t have to rely on repeat business). So its nice to be able to spread the word about one of the better places to relax and refresh.

As an American who has permanently settled in the UK, I am constantly frustrated at the lack of late night coffee shop options to sit and chat and chill, particularly as I have friends who just aren’t comfy in pubs. This place isn’t open super late, but it is later than a lot of the usual coffee chains, which is nice. It has a great vibe to it, with the option to sit upstairs or downstairs in rooms with small nooks and crannies. It has a good feeling to it, and the people running the show always seem cool and relaxed. One night we lost track of time and didn’t realise they were trying to close. They were quite nice about not trying to push us out since they were cleaning anyhow and weren’t in a hurry to lock the doors, which was really nice of them. It felt warm and comfy and I will definitely be back, not only because it’s close to me, but because it’s a nice place for a chat.

This place does exactly what it says on the tin good strong coffee, plus a good selection of other soft drinks and snacks. The shop is the perfect backdrop for a more casual business meeting which seems to be its main use, at least mid-morning when it is hiving with laptop wielding types.

With excellent chai latte(I’m not a coffee drinker) and free wifi, Double Shot Coffee Company provides a great escape from the rush in Covent Garden and the Strand. It’s kinda got a Central Perk-feel with the Persian area rug, couch and comfy-cushioned seats scattered about. A great spot to stop and recharge after a long day of shopping or to buckle down and get some work done.

Lovely shop, quite spacious and good value. Coffee-wise I don’t think it’s as good as the likes of Notes, Vergnano 1882, Flat White and Lantana but it’s still good, and the cakes are lovely. You can spend more time here than at the other local gourmet coffee shops as they also do toasted sandwiches.

Ah ha my friend Eurydice loves this place too! Have we met there for coffee… It is lovely, though Eurydice did fail to mention the awesome Union Jack cushion, but we have to forgive her she is a furriner after all. I particularly recommend the toasted teacakes bargin at £1.50 and the tea which comes in a proper pot. If there’s a small group of you and its not one of those amazing sunny days in London I recommend going downstairs, there are two discreet areas with cosy seating where you are set away from the rest of the world. They also do a buy 5 coffees get one free card which is a lovely incentive to go back, especially when they are so much nicer than Neros!

At £2.00 for a big huge delicious Mocha served in a proper round mug, they’re hearty competition for Nero and all the other chains out there. The décor is simple. White walls with turquoise boiserie, a chandelier, gilted golden mirrors, and dark brown leather couches and armchairs. It’s the Mediterrannean goes to Versailles. Or vice versa. Either way, it’s perfect for me! They have bakery-made brownies and other goodies at the till(I was very tempted) and they said that on occasion they make their own brownies. Those, apparently, are huge. They’re the ones who said it’d be best to share them or consider them a full meal. Now that’s a REAL muffin :) I’m happy to recommend them as they also have those lovely firefly drinks, the innocent smoothies, and other healthy yummy things to drink and eat. Overall I loved the quietness, the warmth, the light, the colours, and, of course, the COFFEE! I now have a favourite coffee shop in Covent Garden! And I’m picky about my coffee… Definitely going back there to meet friends or read a book. I wish my living room was like that…
