This was probably one of the first time’s I’d been to EAT and actually enjoyed myself. This was pre-St Ann’s Square infatuation, in case you were wondering. The location of this branch means it is buzzing with tourists, but when you’re sat on the Southbank with a hazy hangover and relaxing view of the Thames, it’s difficult to complain. You’re in easy walking distance to a vast array of London hotspots — yes, London is walkable, there’s no need to jump on and off the tube all day — so this is a great spot to grab a bite. I had a spicy chicken and noodle salad with lovely edamame beans and grated veggies. This is my favourite dish at EAT for now, despite the spice breaking me out into a light sweat, but I needed the alcohol out of my system. The only thing that throws me about EATs like this is the separate queues — one for fast track, one for people who need food heating up etc. The people on the fast track queue always look a bit lonely apart from during the lunch rush hour. Lovely location for when you’re feeling unmotivated to discover somewhere new.

Eat is great because the food is super fresh and tasty — you sort of know you can’t go wrong with it. This Eat in particular in nice because it’s large and spacious and you can walk out and have a nice view of the Thames. It’s well-lit and there’s indoor and outdoor seating. It’s great after a morning of walking along the river and just sitting down and enjoying some lunch or afternoon snack. It’s sure a lot better than British pub food or fish and chips again.

I have a big soft spot for this particular Eat, as I used to always meet my dad here. and we would do as the name urges– Eat. The company is a family run one, booming in London at the moment thanks to their huge and very convinient selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, cakes, baked goods, puds, hot beverages and so on. Look out Pret, Eat is catching up! The location is great, southbank, next to the national, stuff always going on, skaters to spy on and giggle, people watching rife. Sunny days are the best, you can sit outside, buy a LOT to eat(my faves are the mexican chicken wrap, chili con carne soup and the bircher muesli) and just chill out and pig out. Lovely. Prices are okay, but not cheap.

I ate in here last week and I thought they had very delicious food and the good thing was there was a wide range of sandwiches, paninis etc to choose from; I’m quite picky when it comes to food because I don’t like things with mayonnaise in and I dont like a lot of salad foods but I still found myself with quite a big range to choose from. I had the cheese and red onion panini and it was lovely, and I got it heated up aswell which I think is a good idea for sandwich bars to have. it was a very quick service, which was good, the restaurant had a nice layout, the only problem was that pigeons kept getting in and i hate pigeons and the staff didn’t seem to bothered to do anything about it. Would recommend eating there though.

This place is great if you avoid lunchtime and go for coffee and cake in the morning or late afternoon. The chocolate fudge cake is a particular favourite of mine, the slice looks huge but you can handle it. The layout is good, very open and bright, but sometimes they insist on leaving the doors open so try get one of the leather booths near the bathrooms. I would avoid the chocolate brownies if I were you; they are dry and very unfulfilling. Also fizzy drinks are expensive at about £1.40 per bottle so stick to the hot teas and coffees.

Housed beneath the new Royal Festival Hall and a few metres from the banks of the river Thames, EAT. is probably the cheapest place to get food on the South Bank. That does mean it gets very busy, and can run out of things, and the service is curt at best. However! it is very good(mostly) healthy fast food, very tasty and excellent value. I particularly recommend the soups, a toasted Eat club or the slightly more expensive but delicious and filling pies. Coffee is also cheaper than some competitors. And regardless of what it’s like inside(often busy or unkempt), you can walk a few feet and eat your lunch on one of the benches looking out over the river. Instant romance. On a budget.

This South Bank branch of the popular upmarket café benefits from lots of space and wonderful views over the river towards Embankment. Situated by the Hungerford Bridge there are plenty of outdoor seats which make a great stop off in the summer. The food is predictably good, wholesome but pricey. The problem with this branch is that its always so busy that service is impersonal at best, rude at worst. Queues are a bit of a shambles and the till/pick-up system is frustratingly confusing. Lacks atmosphere too. Functional café but there are more charming spots, such as Gabriels Wharf further down the South Bank
