Flying Horse

Place advertises they stay open till midnight but they dont. Really annoying to make the trip to one of the only pubs open late in Shoreditch and find it closed.

Decent pub. Nice staff. Beers good. Table football and darts upstairs. Decent for an after work pint.

For what it is, it’s lovely! It’s a nice corner pub in the middle of a very bank-​y and business-​y area but has managed to retain an authentic feel. The bartenders (oddly) are gorgeous women, which I bet helps a bit, and the clientele is mostly locals and guys in suits after work. I went in to meet a friend who works in the area for a post-​work pint and we were the only women patrons for at least an hour. Didn’t matter to anybody else, it was really friendly.
The draft beer and cider isn’t expensive and everyone is nice. I have no complaints other than the teensy tininess of the female toilet, but based on the clientele, it suits the pub so who cares. I’m just glad to have found a pub in the area that hasn’t been (for lack of a better word) swankified.

The perfect place!
I can spend my whole evening there they have a pool table and dartboard, what else do you need to have a great time? The service is also good the staff is nice and you can enjoy yourself without being bothered by anything for the whole night. I recommend the pub!

This being really close to work, I often come here on Friday lunchtimes/​evenings.
This place is an old school boozer which is nice, but still has a good amount of suited City workers so it doesnt feel like a hole!
The drinks are moderately priced whcih is good as it’s so close to Liverpool St and the City, though I cant say Ive ever paid that much attention to them, which must mean they’re not extortionate, and as its quite small, everyone spills out onto teh street which is handy for smokers, though this is quite funny when around 8ish cars/​vans/​police try to drive down the street next to it and attempt to shift everyone out the way!

Such a fun place! Lots of business people from around the area and the amazing Bloomberg building is just down the street! Everyone is really nice and it feels like a real English pub.

If the missus is taking too long choosing her shoes or you cant bear the nightmare of Oxford Street any longer then sneak down the side of Bond Street station (next to Next) and find the pub known as The Flying Horse. its a typical traditional local with some nice wines and some good draught beers. on sunny days sit outside and watch the worls go by. Lovely Jubbly.

This is a proper pub, from the time when this end of The City didn’t reach this far and people with proper jobs and real homes lived around here. Somehow it’s still a local pub and a good one. Slightly grubby and lived in, but a proper boozer and I like it!

Upon arriving in London my cousin and I met the friend that I was staying with at this pub. We really wanted our first meal in the UK to be fish and chips but the cook was out that day. Since we were starving we took them up on their offer for their frozen pizza and ordered some drinks.
The bartenders were really sweet Australian girls that were telling us about cool places in London and what we should do as well as avoid. They kept on serving us drinks and chatting us up until work let out and the place was beginning to empty out.
When the bill came I was surprised to not see a place to add a tip to my card. I had forgotten that my friends told me it’s not so customary there but as someone from NYC, it’s a habit.
We ended up back at this pub a few more times before we left the city and would yell the girls about our touristy sightseeing trips. Aside from all the suits it was a pretty cool bar.

There is no escape located only 3 minutes from the office. It is a simple pub with a bit scruffy interior which is very pleasant to me compared to other pubs and bars in the vicinity of The City (technically, this is Hackney, my office is in Islington and The City if just 200m South). They have a decent, varying choice of Real Ale together with the regular brands of Lager you find in England and cider. The bar staff, who come mostly from Australia or New Zealand for some reason, are really cool. They are happy to setup (and join) a Jägertrain, Skittles or any other messy arrangement of drinks. The music as well as the patrons can be quite noisy especially early in the evening; to escape, either stand outside and be careful not to be run over by lorries or go upstairs where a pool table and a dart board with further seating are available. The TVs on both floors are turned on sometimes for major sport events. Some of my colleagues show up several times a week and love that place.

Nice local type pub, a nice change from the characterless bars that make up the majority of watering holes in the city.
food was standard pub grub and came out quickly.

A good local type pub in City area. No thrills, just decent service, friendly and lots of friendly regulars. a pleasant change compared to many other City pubs. A bit scruffy but all part of the charm.

The Kronenbourg is good here and the place isn’t anywhere near as yuppified as most in the area… as far as I remember.
