Its actually called the Pillars of Hercules but is an old rock n roll pub where i used to hang out a lot with many a musician. it has a lot of history and as its near to a venue you may by chance see many a face there that you recognise. Also good music from some cheeky DJs occasionally!

This pub has some charm with it’s old fashioned décor. I only had a drink here but the prices are ok for London. £12.95 for a bottle of pino grigio. Modern music not too loud and friendly staff.

Don’t eat here. A nice pint or glass of vino after a day of speaking panels at a conference in the New Connaught Rooms across the street will do just the trick. I wouldn’t waste my time on waiting for the food. I waited ANHOUR for a shitty chicken sandwich(I wasn’t told about the shredded cheese… FAIL). My fellow pub-goers«enjoyed»(and by that I mean«swallowed») lasagne and shepherd’s pie. We were hungry and not very picky. And waited for an hour. We would have eaten ANYTHING. That’s the problems with most London pubs. The end.

This place is truly diabolical. Beloved of the Masons who live across the road, and with horrible faux-Roman décor, this really is old school, in a bad way. I ordered the shepherds pie, got served lasagne. Clearly microwaved. Dreadful. And the chef can’t even distinguish between meat dishes.
