A hidden gem just off of Exmouth market. Humble, unpretentious and supremely friendly service. Homey, hearty food(Souvla is a standout) and inexpensive wines. Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. What more do you need?

Nice small place but the food was not what I expected! The staff where friendly and the brought out pita bread and olives, as side/starter, but the food that we had was ok. Not great but not that good either, but it’s worth going to because of the nice staff!

Mmm… baklava was the best! The rest of the meal was lovely too. I had the dolmades which were good but I should have had the souvla which my friends had — the lamb was ridiculously tender. The servers were very pleasant and we had a really nice time. If definitely come back here.

This place definitely has the feel of a family run business that has been in the neighbourhood for decades. They appeared to be 3 generations of the same family bustling around the place on the night we visited. We had the mixed meze starters, the mixed kebab and the chicken kebab. I was looking forward to visiting this place for a while after reading the reviews, however, we left slightly disappointed. I appreciate this place has great prices, however, the quality of the ingredients wasn’t comparable to other Mediterranean restaurants we have been too lately. Further, without being pedantic, our waiter seems to prefer carrying our glasses to the table with his fingers inside the rim and carrying plates with his fingers precariously close to our food which wasn’t very appetizing.

Good food, good wine, good service, well worth a visit, no frills, no pretensions, just good honest catering and lovely cheesy music.

This place is a breath of fresh air in the big bad corporate world of restaurants run by automatons driven spread sheets. We went in for lunch during the school holidays with the kids. How refreshing to find someone who will make allowances for children’s appetites. The daily special lunch menu(which is a real bargain) was adjusted to fit our requirements and a single dish was split into two for my sons who could not manage a full portion. The food was fresh, tasty and as a result of the ‘adjusted menu’ very economical for a family of five. I loved Kolossi and I will go back at the earliest opportunity.

Totally agree with the reviews. My boyfriend and I had seen this restaurant before and because we love Greek food and because it was always so busy(hence usually a good sign!) we decided to try it last weekend. We were lucky to get a table. Yes, it’s a bit squashed but well worth it anyway. The food is very very good very reasonable in price. If you like fish, the fish meze was great, including Sea bass, which normally costs the same price as a mezze alone in other restaurants. It’s a traditional type place with older waiters, but I like that! The only thing missing when we went was the music. I think they’d forgotten to put it on because it only came on when we were about to leave around 11pm. Glad to have found this little gem and will go again!

My husband and I were looking for a place to eat in London and I found Kolossi Grill on QYPE and thought it had good reviews. Wow what a quaint little place with a lovely atmosphere! We both loved the music and the waiters, obviously real Greek Cypriots. Everything I had on the meze menu tasted delicious, there was nothing I didn’t like and the portions were just right. We finished our meal with a metaxa, which was very good quality and left us both feeling warm for our journey home. I would highly recommend this to anyone, good food, great atmosphere and very inexpensive. It is obviously popular because by the time we left the place was full! Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for a good Greek restaurant(Greek Cypriot actually) in the Clerkenwell area head down to the Exmouth market for Kolossi Grill. Here you are guaranteed a loud, fun evening with loads of food at very reasonable prices for the great quality. The waiting staff are all older Greek /Greek Cypriot men who will make sure your evening is a memorable one. Very child friendly as well. Reasonably priced wine etc.

The Kolossi Grill was recommended to me by a former colleague who had been dining there for many than twenty years. After singing the praises of the exceptional value of the set lunch I decided to try it for myself. The staff were very welcoming and it felt a bit like walking into someone’s home. The décor is a bit dated but the restaurant has been running since 1966 and still has many repeat custimers. I could almost imagine ladies with their bouffant hair and men in their smart suits dining at the Kolossi Grill in the 1960s. When I went with my mum the restaurant was empty although it was midweek around 2pm. The food arrived quickly and I was impressed with my portion of chicken kebab and rice. For £5.95 this has to be one of London’s best value lunch menus. I will definately be back soon, hopefully next time there will be more people and I can experience more of the restaurant’s lively atmosphere.

An eccentric place with a real warm Greek family feel to it. We were greeted by a couple of slightly rotund Greeks who proceeded in fussing over us as we had to sit outside(as we hadn’t pre-booked) in the cold as the inside was fully booked. But they sorted us out quickly, making sure we were sat right under the outdoor heating which warmed us straight away. The menu at Kolossi is filled with all sorts of Greek Cypriot dishes. We just stuck with a couple hot and cold Mezes which filled us up just right. We had a Greek salad, which could have done with a bit more feta and dressing, calamari, houmous, dolmades(vine leaves) and haloumi(which came much too salty). The atmosphere is certainly a treat as it is bustling, loud and homely, but the food is hit and miss. This place reminds me a lot with the Spanish restaurant in Soho, Café Espana, where everything feels very local and relaxed, but the food can be good or not so good at times.

Cheap and filling lunch in a very homey, rustic setting! The old guys that work here are super cool too. Everytime I eat here I feel like I’m in on a secret. Also, it’s not just Greek but Greek Cypriot. I’m not sure how that affects the cuisine but it’s interesting to note. Kolossi Grill is a stand by restaurant for me. I’ve been at all times of the day and never had to wait(although, I might have just been lucky). I’ve taken a variety of friends(everybody loves it). Generally, I keep it in mind when the weather’s rubbish and I want a hearty meal.

Although I love this place and have come here a few times, I was still surprised to see it listed as Number 1 greek restaurant in London — but then I checked and Vrisaki(the overlord of greek restaurants!!) is listed as a mediterranean restaurant. Yes it’s good. Obligatory family friendly atmosphere? Check. Old men waiting the tables and chatting with customers while the younger generations slave away in the kitchen under the watchful eye of their uncles? Check. Meze with lots of courses of meat, fish, seafood, veg and dessert? Check. Wine by the carafe? Check. Not too pricey, especially given the quality of the food? Check. Highly recommend.

This restuarant has been owned by the same family for 45 years and their dedication shows! Delicious, seriously, and great portion sizes(this coming from an American who is used to gigantic portions :) The mezi plate is fabulous but it will fill you up so beware! The service here is amazing– up to American standards! Good place for a date night.

This is a gem of a restaurant. I first went on a recommendation from a friend, had a great time and have been back a few times. I tend to go for the mezze option(for about £17) and it’s more than you could hope to eat every dish is as delicious as the next, so it’s really hard to pace yourself. The atmosphere here is one of the friendliest I’ve experienced and the service couldn’t be better. You’re welcomed with a great big smile, a hand shake and sometimes a pat on the back. The restaurant is quite small and there’s not much room between you and the table next to you, which actually adds to the feeling that you’re guests in the true sense of the word. A good tip is not to eat much in the lead up to going as every inch of room counts!
