A café in Bloomsbury. I went here a few months ago as I was just passing and fancied an espresso. Didn’t try the food so can’t comment on that. From memory they do sandwiches, and probably other things(I can see references to breakfast and falafel in Google Street View images). I asked for a single espresso, but was charged 20p more than the price shown on the board. I don’t know if he was ripping me off, or whether he misheard(it was larger than a typical single espresso). It wasn’t a good espresso either.

When I was living in halls I would often walk by the Mediterranean Café. I always admired the attractive tiled sign, however, I rarely had a reason to stop. Then having napped too long and missed dinner I decided to go and give it a shot. The interior is fairly standard, a large central counter and a few seats and tables. I had fish and chips which perhaps wasn’t particularly bright. It was okay but still perhaps better to order something more in the spirit. The décor was a little faded, and there wasn’t much atmosphere. Perhaps because it was later on. I would recommend the café more as a place for a coffee and a snack rather than a sit down meal.

Situated in busy Bloomsbury the Mediterranean café serves up an amazing falafel whilst allowing you to surf the net at the same time. However, if you want some peace whilst you eat, or you don’t want anyone to see you drop afore mentioned falafel over your keyboard, then head down mid morning or late afternoon to avoid the student rush from the nearby university. The food may be slightly overpriced but its authentic and tasty and the convenience of being able to get online at the same time(not an easy task in central London) more than makes up for this.
