Watching rugby here and it’s nicely crowded but not overly crowded. Good is pretty reasonable and tasty. Located by the water and the Clink museum. Very comfortable!

Another Southbank pub on the crawl between Blackfriars Bridge and London Bridge. The Old Thameside is a converted warehouse located close to the Clink museum and The Golden Hind. The interior is very traditional, with low beams, and exposed brickwork. It has a nice cosy feel. However, once again, The old Thameside is at it’s most popular in the summer because of it’s riverside location. There is ample space to sit or stand outside to take in the views. St Pauls cathedral is again the central focus.

I visited this pub quite a few times and loved it so much that I even had my birthday celebrations here one year — luckily it falls in the Summer; the main attraction of this place is its outdoor seating which has breathtaking views of the river. I highly recommend sitting down with a pint just as the sun is setting for the full effect. Conveniently located opposite London Bridge station, and beside Borough Market, this place always seems to be heaving with tourists, but I’ve yet to have a problem finding a free seat or table. They have a great selection of beers, and they sell cigarettes behind the bar too. It’s quite pricey, but that’s to be expected because of its location. The food here is great too — again, it’s expensive, but so worth it. It’s essentially pub grub, but tasty and definitely hits the spot. I was surprised by the variation and sheer number of vegetarian options they have to offer and I think I’m well on my way to trying them all! Not a pub you’d call your regular, due to its location and pricelist. However, every Londoner should experience at least one sunset here.

Really enjoyed visiting this pub for the first time today. There’s a massive outdoor seating area, perfect for the warm summer months, as it overlooks the Thames. My only worry is it’s located near all the touristy attractions, so will be probably taken over by tourists looking for a drink. The service was quite and staff were really on it, so will definitely be back if I’m in the area and fancy a drink. Apparently it’s also got a gin palace going on, we didn’t have time to check this out, bur next time I’m back, its on the list.

I really enjoy this pub. It’s not only in the Borough Market area, but on the river with a view of St Paul’s(and close to my flat, which is always an added bonus!). I love sitting outside despite the weather, as there are seats covered by umbrellas that have heaters as well. The service is quite good, but they do close early, even on weekends! So feel free to definitely stop by and grab a pint(or 10), but don’t make this your end destination.

Yeah, it’s OK. It’s kind of just a big pub that caters mostly to tourists because of the location and that it’s right on the water. You’ll see a lot of people taking selfies. And inside, it’s your normal pub, dark wood, lots of tables, TVs, the works. But they have a nice beer selection and will serve you quickly and happily, so that’s a win. I’d come back for another drink, no question.

Situated right on the Southbank it’s a great stop off at a historic pub to get an ale or beer and watch the many tourists walking by. Top location.

When it is beautiful, sunny and quiet on a weeknight this pubs thames view terrace is brilliant. However inside is not so great. Staff are friendly enough but don’t really seem to care much. Have only eaten there once and food was standard slightly overpriced grub which was very uninspiring. It is a pub that is surviving because of its location rather then its service or offerings.

I like the Thameside Inn, mainly, well exclusively because of the location: right on the river, where you can get a nice breeze if its warm. Ive been a few times now and it always seems rammed but there seems to be good turnover so loitering with intent should get you a table after a while. The drinks are too expensive which is a surprise given the location and I havent yet been here early enough in the day to try the food but that’ll be my intention next :)

I came here for fish and chips and thought they would be amazing as the location seemed great. I was not super impressed. I guess I could have just gone to any pub. Service was atrocious. I was waiting in line and when it came to be my turn, the girl just left. I should have left right then, but I was hungry and didn’t want to look elsewhere. Location is it’s only strong point.

The Old Thameside is an average pub, but it is in a great location. It’s right next to the Golden Hinde and has ample space outside for when the sun is shining. The food is unfortunately not very good. I had their classic burger and it tasted like something from a fast food chain with a lot of mayonnaise. Perhaps more disappointing though was delivery to the table, which was extremely staggered. I can appreciate this tends to happen if you order separately, but it took over 30 minutes between the first and last plate. I’d recommend it for a drink with friends or colleagues.

This is a pretty typical chain pub. But! There are some really cool things you should take into consideration if you’re standing outside, freezing your tookus off, and wondering if it’s worth it. 1. Location. Brilliant, right on the river Thames, as the name suggests. 2. Size. Plenty of bar space, tables, standing tables, and other rooms I didn’t explore. 3. Service. Friendly, lots of options, happy to ply you with drinks in exchange for your tourist money. I didn’t have any food, generally sticking away from pub fare, but I imagine from what I saw go by our table, that it’s pretty good. It’s certainly a nice break, as you make your way a long the river, to stop in for a pint.

This place is great for a drink right on the Thames. You can sit on the patio and you have a great view of the city and the river. Next time I’m there I’ll try the food to review.

Very standard Nicolson’s pub. Right on the Thames, so you’re paying for the views. If you can get them. Very standard Nicolson’s menu, which means that you’ll pay around a tenner for a pie, which will be decent, but nothing special. Loads of seats along the river if that’s your thing. Loads of fighting your way through hordes of tourists if that’s your thing. Fairly ordinary, but does the job. Sligthly nicer than the Anchor and Hope up the way but you’re better off on the north side of the river if you can find a place.

Oh, previous Unilocalers. Didn’t you know what you were in for when you chose this place? You’re paying for the location, duh. Yep, it’s a riverside pub in a tourist hotspot with stunning views and ample outdoor seating. It’s bound to be expensive, busy and probably unoriginal in terms of food & drink. But, despite being pricey, it’s still an absolutely lovely place to sit and while away a «british summer» afternoon with friends. The burger was surprisingly really good AND they had Blue Moon on tap. Works for me.

Nice selection of drinks on tap. Busy on Friday but still with reasonable service. Overlooks the river and has a small balcony. All in all, worth stopping for a beer.

#1 on the London Bridge to Tower Bridge Ale Trail, The Old Thameside Inn is located of course alongside the Thames and Sir Frances Drakes Pirate Ship! That said, the amazing outdoor seating is dampened by the smell… of the really cool old boat(can’t be helped sigh) and the Thames itself, but that’s not a surprise. Once you’ve carefully used the old, scary steepish stairway from the Bridge, walk down the street and around the corner you will find this large, comfortable place to drink, but not eat. To be honest I know better than to eat at any of the Nicholson pubs. As stated in The Cambridge review, I met my BF when he was working at one, thus giving me the details about the food service that I rather not know. Only exception to the rule for the both of us is De Hems, check my profile for that one. What I love about the Old Thameside Inn is the seating atmosphere provided. It’s gorgeous inside and out. Kind of dungeon-y with iron castings and old school spiral stairway, there is always going to be plenty of space to enjoy yourself as long as you get there at the right time. Like the nearby Mudlark they too serve a green type of beer. It looks like it’s from the river itself. Awesome. While actually doing the ale trail, my mates BF and our other male friend received t shirts and stamps while we were there. We were only on our third pub! My friend and myself were so jealous that they were given extras while we were ignored, but also enjoyed the fact that the bartender was kind enough to reverse the stereotype. When it grew too chilly to stay outside we went downstairs and sat feeling posh amongst the dim lighting on the leather seats. It’s a strange pub that appears to be super old but swanky at the same time. It succeeded in providing us with a wonderful atmosphere to have a pint. In reading the other reviews I’d agree with them although I haven’t tasted the food so I can’t really say. This place is great for groups, bad I guess for eating, no wheelchair access and the bathrooms were fabulous. Take what you will from the reviews, but if anything just go a pint, that’s all pub should really do for us anyway.

UPDATE 4 ales on tap upstairs the second time I went. *********************************************** This is another London Bridge, riverside pub that is entirely different in the summer. Its lovely outside area is obviously completely empty when the temperatures approach 0. Inside, it’s rather a large place with a downstairs area that has some sofas. Drinks wise I was a little disappointed as out of 4 hand pumps, only 2 were active and on my visit both had some kind of problem that caused them to dispense a clear liquid.

The riverside location ensures that The Thameside Inn will remain successful so long as tourists come to England but the pub itself is one of the least inspiring drinking establishments on offer in the capital. The interior reminds me of a Whetherspoons bar whilst the atmosphere feels sickly and bland. You never feel able to relax in this bar nor, I suspect, would you want to linger long. The food is bog-standard English dishes fried to within an inch of their life. I ate fish and chips here on one of my first trips to London and it was repellent; the batter was stodgy and the fish completely overdone. Whats more these meals don’t exactly come cheap or at least not cheap enough to justify buying them. The drinks like everything else here are unexciting featuring the usual suspects in lager, ales and spirits. I really couldn’t stand to be in this place for more than about 20 minutes. Chances are if you enjoy a stroll along SouthBank you may spy this place at some point but I would implore you to take a little more time and seek out one of the other great pubs in this area.
