Excellent date venue, plenty of outside space for sitting in the summer but gets full.

I wouldn’t come for the food again. A bland offering of even blander British food, with your standard fish & chips and whatnot. Beer seemed okay, but I’m not exactly a connoisseur on that point. I’d skip this and go to the Bunch of Grapes around the corner, which has more character. The one advantage of Brew Wharf is its decent-sized outside area, if you can get a spot.

Came here with a few friends on a weekday evening, and you are certainly spoilt for choice as far as the menu goes. I got one of the beers on tap that the bartender said was similar to Hoegaarden, but the bottled beers can set you back 7 – 8 pounds, so choose wisely! I also got two items from the bar menu, the calamari and the spiced potato wedges, and those actually turned out to be much larger portions than I imagined. I had thought of it as a one-person dinner, but it was enough for the 3 of us to share. It’s good for a drink or two, but probably best to move on to one of the nearby pubs for anything more than that.

Staff think that are gods gift. I asked for cutlery with my food and she pulled a face. Further more we asked to order mains and the kitchen couldn’t handle more the 70 covers and they said no. They are apart of vinopolis. What the…

I was impressed by the beer of this brew gastro pub. The lager was crisp and clean, with hereby flavours and came at a great price too. This is where the gushing stops though. The patio was relatively quiet, and looking back, this was probably not a good sign. But we wanted somewhere to rest our weary feet after a morning of walking, so seating was a huge plus. Our waitress was disgruntled and had a bit of an attitude. Only when we were paying did the service brighten a little bit. With this being right next to Borough Market, there is no excuse for the food to be as sad as we experienced. The cheese plate had three dinky pieces, with the blue being the only one of any note. The chutney was delicious and easily the thing on the plate that me and my friend fought over. We may have only stopped in for this, but restaurants have to make every plate count. I would suggest filling yourself up at all the food stalls in Borough Market and catching a drink somewhere else.

Always saw this place from Vinopolis when I went there and thought ‘nah, I’m drinking wine today’. It doesn’t look that appealing being of the modern, not remotely cosy variety. However, very good beers. Only a couple of real ales but both good ones. This is complimented by all manner of bottles. Tried something called ‘Grandma wouldn’t like it’ and they’re probably right. Grandma wouldn’t like the price either!

Not as exciting as the name implies This is a nice pub, but I wouldn’t stay for more than one, and I certainly wouldn’t make it the focal point of a pub crawl. Its modern décor with a decent outside area, which probably make sit very popular in the summer months. Not far from Borough Market, there are some really good bars around here, and also, unsurprisingly, some great restaurants. I figure if you are up against some of the best then you should ‘Go Hard’ or ‘Go Home’, these guys have ‘Gone Meh’! So they have a decent range of beers, nothing exciting, and they do brew their own stuff, which was a bit old fashioned. If you read my reviews you will know I am big on my beer, so that’s why I got excited about this place. Their home brew stuff is old school, which will always have its place in the world of beer, and you won’t often find me saying no. But the modern décor implies modern beer, and it just isn’t . They had a good range of wines, which will be because they have a wine bar just around the corner Wine Wharf, and a standard back bar. We didn’t try any food, but they have a large open kitchen and a German style beer hall through the back. Service was usual Cockney banter, but not good enough to make me a loyal punter.

What’s the matter here? Where’s the love? No, I’m not quoting that lame Black Eyed Peas song, I’m asking all the prior reviewers, where’s the love for this place? Apparently I was in an alternate universe because I had a nice time here. I had a delicious sandwich and a house beer for £8.50. The beer was actually good, though not as good as the German beer I had later. «Natasha» was my waitress and I wouldn’t consider her«warm and fuzzy», unless you consider a machete wrapped in barbed wire and covered in razor blades to be warm and fuzzy. However, she was efficient. I got my sandwich and my beers promptly. I almost wanted to spill some of my beer to see if she’d spank me(I think she may have had a riding crop in her apron). Anyway, the point is, I had good beer and good food at a reasonable price in a clean, comfortable environment. That’s good enough for me. Show some love to the Brew Wharf people!

For a few years now, I find the Brew Wharf a great place to unwind after a visit to the bustling Borough Market( ) . This gastropub has a microbrewery on its premises which currently just brews one beer: Wharf Best(1 pint: £3.40). According to Time Out, it is a triumph of the art. Clear and lively, again it’s hoppy but balanced and strong enough to cut through the food. Brew Wharf also offers five draught beers by the award-winning Greenwich brewery Meantime( ) : Meantime London Stout 4.5% Meantime Raspberry 5% Meantime Wheat 5% Meantime Koelsch 5% Meantime Union(dark lager) 4.9% Last Saturday, a jazz band was playing at the Brew Wharf which added to the nice, relaxing atmosphere(no cover charge). If you are into wine, check out the place next door: Vinopolis( ), a wine shop offering a tour with wine tastings. [I wrote this under the influence of the songs tagged beer( ) in my profile.]
