Been here before but until I went didn’t realise quite how nice it really was inside. Seems to have been done up a bit more which is good. Booked in for a Sunday roast and the portions are huge. Chicken was a bit dry and not much of it but the Pork slices were aplenty! Much better value go get that roast. Lots of fresh veg too. Potatoes were OK. Not the best I’ve had. As I say though great portions and very filling, so will be back for Pork roast. Staff friendly and there’s a nice fireplace out back to sit and relax too.

Sounds like a lot has changed at Railroad Tavern since its last review in 2012. My review reads: Food 5⁄5 Service 5⁄5 Ambiance 5⁄5 Music(was notable) 5⁄5 I’m a foodie from Los Angeles who knows good food, and this was GOOD. The service and ambiance were simply bonuses because they were also top notch. Went for late lunch today and had a delicious meal, pint of Guinness, and a great bartender. Was hungry and looking for a local to eat at, and was not expecting much. That’s probably why we had such a dumbfoundingly good experience. Club Sandwich and Fish Sandwich for lunch came with a salad and fries as well for something like 9 euros. The flavors and the quality of food were out of this world. We were beyond happy with our meal. In fact, we went back once again before we left London for dinner, where we got a meat pie and some other delicious food. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Go if you’re anywhere close to Islington! Or travel there for the food and ambiance.

The institution of the«public house» is one of the truly great of the UK. Each one reflects the personality of the neighborhood around it. It is hard to imagine a neighborhood completely devoid of personality. As a sociological study, this place may be worth a visit.

£4 for a pint of ale… hmm. Nice interior, I have a feeling that the real ale pumps don’t get much use because I had a crappy pint. A comfy spot to stop at on a cold night.

Pleasant and welcoming pub with not a train in sight. I think it may be in a transitional phase as the various characters in the pub didn’t really look like they belonged in this pub. It’s not got the feel of a gastro pub exactly, but it does feel a bit like a cross between a pub and a nice restaurant. Had a pint of Landlord but didn’t find it to be quite as nice as I am used to. Worth a look

I had the day off work and was wandering around Crouch End with a friend when I was drawn into this pub by the menu on a sandwich board in the front. The menu listed eggs Florentine, something I hadn’t had since moving to London. Not being a yummy mummy myself, I was a bit worried about something else written on the menu: «For lovely ladies who lunch with their babies.» We decided to go in anyway. Despite some strange plastic flowers, it looked like a nice, old pub, with paneled walls and a wood stove in a huge fireplace. I had my eggs Florentine with a lady Guinness(half a pint). My friend had a bacon burger and fries. Both were delicious. The bartender said they have live music on Sundays, so I may go back and check it out.

Not much of an atmosphere here for a pub in the centre of town. I had passed it and on this occasion decided to give it a try. The inside is small compared to others in the town and has an old fashioned feel with lots of wood. It reminds me of a hotel bar as it is well lit with chandeliers and plastic flowers. There are a couple of hanging aeroplane models from the ceiling and ships and things which I suppose kind of adds to the character. There were no ales on tap and not much to choose from so I ordered water — expensive. There is a small fireplace at the end of the room and a beer garden outside which looked nice. The food menu is traditional pub stuff and a bit pricey. Not much happening here but a good place if you want a quieter pub.
