A really cool venue that has just been done up downstairs, which holds its famous comedy night. I think the layout is a bit strange now(seems quite narrow), but they make u for it in star quality acts. A fair few pop down unannounced like Stewart Lee or when I went, Reginald D Hunter. Good beer upstairs too.

Having grown up in Crouch End I have many memories of drinking here over the years. Until a recent visit, I hadn’t been here for several years and was happy to see that it’s current incarnation is doing well. The interior is much improved, as is the food. There is a wide selection of beers and wine. Service was good and whatever was happening downstairs seemed to be popular. But for me the main draw is people watching. There is something about this place that attracts, almost, every kind of Crouch Ender, even now. Crouch End has changed somewhat since the late Seventies!

One of those lazy Mondays off that I have from time to time, my husband took me for lunch(maybe dinner, it was quite late already) to The King’s Head. A few weeks ago it was closed because, apparently, they done some serious work in the restaurant. My impression was quite good. Spacious, clean, modern but maintaining the pub vibe. We had some bites to share, and everything was tasty. Nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed it. Anyway, I think this is a cosy place for something to eat or a few pints. Very Crouch Ender.

It’s pretty loud in here — and I always feel like I’m stepping right into the middle of a party when I enter. The staff are nice though, and the food is top. There’s always a real mixture of people in this place which is fun. Also, the comedy club downstairs is always worth a visit. Very intimate venue, but never not laughed at a night there!

I went in here for a meal in the diner area and the service was great(though we were the only ones in the restaurant area, which was really weird but rather nice!). They accept Taste Cards, and seem to be the only ones in the area that do so. The girl that served us was super friendly and my meal was not amazing but rather nice(I had fish and chips). The area was lit with candles which makes it a plus. They also have this lovely beer called Anchor Steam which looks very pretty and tastes great. There always seems to be a nice atmosphere in this place, and its always lovely and warm!

Nice Gastropub. Good food especially the Sunday roasts, although it can be difficult to get a seat sometimes! Nice selection of beers and spirits and nice laid back atmosphere also runs events.

I moved out of Crouch end in April and have recently returned to find that my favourite local pub is under new management. What a pleasant surprise! Lots of new and friendlier faces behind the bar and the ales have improved along with the food. I hadn’t noticed how much it needed a bit of a boost until it got one! My best Crouch End pub just got even better.

Crouch End is one of the only London suburbs truly deserving of the tag vibrant. The Broadway is home to several bars and restaurants, but unfortunately in general they come with a side-order of self important bar staff and poor quality. The Kings Head goes some way to buck that trend with a good selection of beers and wines, and passable food. The real selling point of this pub is the downstairs area, which has for some time been the jewel in Crouch End’s crown. Though you wouldn’t think it, this quiet leafy suburban pub has been playing host to some extremely reputable comedians and musicians over the last few years and it has been doing it in style. Highly recommended but get in early as it gets crowded!

Most definitely the best comedy club in Crouch End and most likely one of the best comedy clubs in the country! Founded in 1981 by Peter Grahame and Huw Thomas this place has been going almost since the start of alternative comedy and is beloved by audiences and comedians alike. I’ve been here a dozen times over the years and it’s so friendly, intimate and well-run with always great comics on the bill.

Just had the most horrendous meal in the Kings Head. Have been here a few times for a few quiet pints with friends, like the atmosphere here and the comedy downstairs is really meant to be worth checking out. However just got served up some microwaved left over veg& left over burger instead or corned beef. Was also nicely topped with a severely undercooked egg. Really gross, other food was extremely bland(although not actually raw which seems like a plus!) — would not ever go here again for food or drinks after it.

This pub serves the right kind of drinks but doesn’t look like the kind of place that would. It feels more like a cross between a pub and a modern chain restaurant like Nando’s. Now I like pubs and I like Nando’s but like 2 good friends who you love very much, that doesn’t mean they would be right together. Maybe it is trying to do too muchI’m not sureI guess its to be applauded for trying something a bit different, but its not for me.

I love Crouch End, its just such a pain in the a** to get to. I can’t believe how many pubs are named Kings Head in London, its such a bizarre name to begin with. This pub is one of my favourites in London. To start with the staff are really nice, which makes the start to your experience pleasurable, nobody wants to give custom to an establishment with rude staff. You really should check out their website because they have loads of events going on all the time. Such as choosing from their exceptional wine list for £10 a bottle on Monday nights, say on until 7pm for Salsa lessons, quiz nights on Wednesdays, comedy nights on Thursdays, and live music on occasion. I am always on the look our for places where my boyfriend and I can eat our for under £20, and if you don’t have alcohol but have soda instead this place makes the cut. The best part is the food is actually really good, not just defrosted and warmed up like at other pubs. The lentil veggie burger is amazing, and the beef burgers are grilled nicely, they come with chips and it really all is a sizeable portion that will keep you full all day. They have 28 different kinds of beers, but I still can’t find anyone who carries Duchess de Bourgogne in London(hint hint). The décor includes an old fashioned cigarette vending machine, comfy leather couches, cool lights, and dark wood. It has an aged look but attracts a young crowd.

I’m a big fan of the King’s Head. Again, this pub was really close to my old work and I’ve had a few business lunches in here and casual after work drinks. The pub itself is gorgeous, it’s a beautifully decorated place and is quite big too. There’s a restaurant in here along with a big bar, lots of seating and they have events here too(comedy nights etc). The last time I was in here was for a lunch meeting. We were served pretty quickly as the place was quite quiet. The food was absolutely superb — a huge plate of traditional fish and chunky chips wrapped in crispy batter with a bit of side salad. Yum, yum, yum! The prices are the usual about £7-£10 for food and the standard £3-£4 for a pint. I was hardly thinking of the prices when I was in here though, this place is pretty awesome — highly recommended!

Kings Head is situated right in the heart of Crouch End almost opposite the clock tower. It has a cozy and friendly feel to it with candles on the tables. There is low piped music in the background and lots of different styles of seating from sofa’s to cushioned chairs, and small square and round stools. The bar is well stocked but what stands out the most in this place is the food. You order at the bar and you collect a bottle with your order number on it. I ordered Nachos(5.00) which came baked in a brown terracotta dish stacked with salsa, soar cream, cheese and jalapenos, they were great and too much for one person. My friend had an ultra chunky burger which she said was superb. Downstairs they have live music and comedy which you can check out at . I must go back to check it out.

Good for unwinding on a Friday night after a long week at work. And they have really great grub! It gets quite crowded though so arrive early if you can.

Spent many days and nights here when it used to be my local. Great for an all day breakfast on a lazy Sunday afternoon reading papers. Good buzzy atmosphere in the evening. You would have to get there early if you wanted a seat(not sure if you can reserve tables). Be watchful of your belongings though — a friend of mine had her wallet and phone stolen from her bag that was on the floor(though this can happen anywhere in London). Good for comedy night downstairs too.

Ever so crowded pub with lots of atmosphere. Have enjoyed many a good night there. Would highly reccommend checking out a comedy night downstairs. They have some really top comedians there on a regular basis and you can laugh your tits off in a cosy intimate enviroment. Accoustics are great for live music there too. If a good band is playing there it’s definately worth the entrance fee

The ‘Downstairs’ at the Kings Head has loads to offer in terms of arty events. Regular quiz and comedy nights, story telling and salsa dancing are just some of the activities on offer– all for what i think are pretty reasonable prices. The pub also serves food and a stiff drink when it all gets too much.
