Ended up here before going to see Matilda. The restraunt was booked out so sat in the bar. The staff were very attentive and the menu was varied. The bar area is very comfortable and seems to attract t a nice crowd. It isn’t cheap but is worth the price tag

Really enjoyed this place. We needed a pre theater meal on a busy Friday night for 7 with teens and this place was a good choice on openTable. The highlights of the meal included the service which was surprisingly good for the reasonable prices. Silverware changed. Water refilled. Meals coming at once. Very friendly too. As for the food itself, it was delicious British fare. The onion soup was rich with the salty overtones you look for. The small fried sardines as an appetizer were also quite tasty without being too fishy. The main disheartening were big hits of fish n chips and shepard’s pie. And I got the beef in a pastry pie that was surpassingly filling. And don’t miss the toffee dessert. Yum! Overall, the prior reviews are hogwash in my view. This place was a total winner for the whole family. Judging by the crowds, it has a lot of fans too.

The Matilda themed tea was so lovely! There were non-tea options(milkshakes and hot chocolate) for those of us who didn’t want tea, and the food was just delicious. They even gave each child the book Matilda! There weren’t many people there, which was kind of a shame, but we totally enjoyed ourselves. After tea, we had some time before our show started, so we walked around the neighborhood.

Liked the food, prices reasonable, cool interieur. Minus points because they served the burger with cheese allthough a diary-free meal was ordered. Better check twice in case you have any dietary restrictions.

2 stars– nice food but unfortunately the most shocking service I have come across in London. I came here for afternoon tea with reservations made 2 weeks in advance. Upon arrival there was no one to greet us at the door– there was however 10 staff members cleaning up dishes and walking around. All obviously saw us but choose to ignore us until after 15 minutes we approached a bartender and asked if someone could seat us. We would have walked out if I had not been given a birthday voucher for afternoon tea here. The waitress that sat us was abrupt asking us for reservations and saying she could not find our names but as a courtesy would seat us. Excuse me. as a courtesy? The restaurant was less than half full and I made reservations in advance. She also saw us standing at the door for 15 minutes and offered no apology. She walked us to the sitting area & demanded our voucher before she even sat us. She asked us what tea we wanted and that was the most interaction we had with any service the entire meal. Our tea came out– the food was actually really lovely. The sandwiches were fresh, the scones were freshly baked & warm, and the desserts were really lovely. They need to invest in staff– they seem to have a lot but all are very rude & abrupt. Hire a hostess-there is a podium but no one stands behind it! The whole tea was very awkward– I would give it 1 star for how awkward they made us feel but the quality of food & tea was nice. It’s a shame really as this could be a very nice place if it was managed better & had good service. Will not return & do not recommend.
