Sheila’s Sandwich Bar

A bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll is the quintessential New York City breakfast. You can’t really find it anywhere else in the states, and we’re FIERCELY proud of that. Then I came to London for the first time and had an «Aha moment». We get it from our papa’s, The Brits! Everything came full circle. Of course! Duh! It all makes sense! And Sheila’s Sandwich Bar does it oh so right.
The roll was fresh and soft, the bacon perfectly salty and tender, the egg fried to a perfect runny consistency, and the gravy a perfect finishing touch. I came here for a breakfast sandwich or ‘bacon and egg butty’ as our much more eloquent allies call them, every morning that I was in London. The service was phenomenal and I loved that it was a place for the construction workers to get a quick bite. As far as I’m concerned, they REALLY know where
the good homestyle food is.
Can’t go wrong with a humble place that serves delicious food and friendly service. Thank you Sheila’s café, you made this Yankee very happy!

Can’t go wrong. Bacon and egg sandwich is perfect. Lattes are very solid. She doesn’t like kids so don’t send your 11 year old to pick up coffees by themselves. ;)

I’d make a special trip across London for breakfast here. Bustling, busy and a breakfast bap literally packed with bacon, sausage and egg. Huge, tasty and a snip at under £4. Coffee is surprisingly good and the service is honed to warp-​speed. A real gem. There are 2 tables for 2 but otherwise you’ll need to buy to go.

Considering the options around (i.e. the other sandwich shop located INSIDE the laundromat), Sheila’s offers relatively good food (though it’s quite pricey for what it is). The pricing can be somewhat arbitrary though, as they will charge you for two slices of cucumber which seems a bit excessive.
You’ll always see the cabbies lining up there as Lancaster Mews is a one-​way so the police never drive in to fine them for parking. It’s also conveniently located across from a pub.
Not sure that Sheila’s is my favourite sandwich shop, but it sure is the closest!
Edit: had to remove a star as Eileen seems to have adopted some dodgy management practices, charging arbitrarily and being a bit unkind to her staff. Not going back any time soon…

A clean premises, nicely made sanwiches and a friendly service that welcomes and cherishes customers.
All the cabbies and builders stop here, they actually travel to this place, they do not just come because they are local. These are the type of builders and cabbies that know every sandwich place in London and will only go to the best.
It is not cheap, but no more expensive than other top quality sandwich shops. They are full of ingeredients with nicely made fillings.
I do like their sandwiches, but I have found them to taste a bit bland. However I must stress that that is a personal thing and of course others may think differently.
