I’ve been going here for 4 years now and I love it. The staff is incredibly friendly, best customer service you’ll find in London for a gym(not that that’s saying much!). They have an incredibly flexible membership policy and help you sign up for the one that works best for you, not the one that makes them the most money. They even do small things like loan you a lock for free in case you forgot yours. My only small complaint is that for the price they charge(not expensive, but not cheap), they should include towel service, but you have to pay extra for that(unless you do a longer membership). A very well run gym.

Having recently joined, I’ve been super happy with this gym so far! Class times and types are brilliant, lots of morning and evening options, easy booking online. All the instructors I’ve had are great, and special props to Friday evenings yoga teacher Karl– I was the only one the turn up for class, but instead of running through the standard, he spent the whole time workshop style with me focusing on my headstand technique, something I’d never get in a full class! Locker rooms are spacious and clean, and even at peak times feels like lots of room around the gym. Well impressed so far… and month by month rather than 12 month contract? Yes please!

Soho gyms prides themselves on being a gym that offers carefully selected locations to its members with«as much natural light and open space as possible». Be that as it may, I think we’d be remissed to not also admit to choosing locations based on the cost of their leases as almost none are all that easy to find from the local Tube stop(coming from a bike rider), most being at least a few block away, after taking numerous lefts and rights to find the destination. The Borough location, yes, has ample sunlight and a good deal of space for each station, but the overall space of the gym itself is not all that accommodating. I could foresee this becoming very crowded during peak hours. Couple that with a lack of multiple pieces of the same equipment, and you have queues at the squat rack et al. However, I found more than ample space in the locker rooms which begs the question: are there more people in the lock rooms than on the gym floor? Still, if you could manage to get in during a non-peak hour I would say this is quite suitable for most people’s needs and is relatively clean, which is a big plus.

I have been a member here since it opened. It has many good points and many bad points. The key ones are: Ripped: *Nice brutalist design throughout *Brilliant staff *Money off affiliates through Freedom Tag program *As it is fairly new, machines are all in brilliant condition Torn: *Music is terrible. Last time I heard this repetitive Euro-nonsense I went to the Astoria on the wrong night. *Gets very busy at peak times. *The showers keep on breaking. *There are cheaper gyms in town. So, when a petition was put at reception saying members had requested a greater variety of music and they would like members to tick a preference, I did not vote, but rock and chart styles were full of votes. A year has gone by and I have still yet to hear either of these styles! SOHO gyms, SOHO nightclub music.
