It’s a busy shopping day at the Westfield. After walking the enormous length of the mall in circles, it’s time to have a bite. The massive central food court doesn’t offer much of a reprieve in terms of a quiet break, it’s just as busy and even more so packed with fellow hungry shoppers(seats are hard to come by if you aren’t solo). Queues span the length of car parks, and you wonder how long it would take until you actually get to put something in your mouth. Enter The Square Pie. Either there is no queue or the line moves rather fast, due to the majority of menu items already cooked and sitting under lamps at the counter for collection. Not only is it not as busy as the 20 surrounding restaurants, but it provides the kind of British food you haven’t been able to get yet because pubs in the area serving that food are constantly crowded as well. So, here it is. Time for Pie and Mash. In square form. Perusing the giant lit menu, I opted to try more than one pie but didn’t know how much I could stomach, so I got the Canapies meal that comes with two mini pies and two sides(choice of hot or cold). I ordered the Steak & Ale and Chicken & Mushroom pies. After first telling me that the chicken pie wasn’t available, the staff checked with a colleague and then said everything was supposedly in stock. After paying and finally sitting down, I discovered that I was given a Spinach & Sweet Potato pie instead of the Steak pie. It was fine, but a tad annoying to have been given the wrong thing. The mash and onion gravy were fine as well, but the grated cheese was poured on heavily and completely drowned the rest of the plate. Perhaps I should have tried the mushy peas? I can’t say I would be able to call them proper pies, but I suppose their food does its job in the Westfield mall’s food court, which, by the way, has plenty of other eateries worth a look.

The pie is square — that part is true. Is it a wow pie? A pie to make you do cartwheels through the mall? A pie that

I love this place and today even a bit more thanks to the brilliant skinny pie! I haven’t seen it before and I discovered it today: you still get all the tasty flavour with 50% less calories!!! Yay. Had it with mushy peas(which I absolutely adore), and a bit of mash. Very, very tasty.

Strange, in the other reviewer’s photos, they got 2 scoops of mash, I only got 1! I found the service rushed and slightly annoying, portion size aside, I wasn’t asked what sides I wanted, I said peas and the paltry 1 scoop of mash was added automatically, no choice of gravy offered either. Expensive too, but the pie was excellent, full of kidney flavour, just needed a bigger portion to represent better value for money.

The food court at Westfield’s has a surprisingly good range of quality food options, and the Square Pie company is no exception. I’ve tried a square pie before at their Spitalfields location, but this was my first time with sides. I went with mushy peas and potato wedges. For some reason the pie and mash combo just doesn’t really do it for me, I blame my Australian heritage — all I really want with a pie is a bucketload of tomato sauce(ketchup). The pies here are great, the pastry isn’t as thick and stodgy as some, which I like a lot. The mushy peas trick you into thinking you’re being healthy with some veg on the plate, and add a little sweetness to each mouthful of pie!

Went here for lunch while doing some Christmas shopping at the Westfields Shopping Center. It is located in one of the food court areas. I selected it from the the others because it appeared to offer traditional English fare relative to the other nearby choices. They featured various pies primarily meat pies. I had a chicken mushroom pie. It was good and tasted pretty much as expected. Although I liked it, it was nothing terribly unusual and would probably make another restaurant selection if I found myself in the shopping center around lunch time in the future.

For mall food, excellent and not expensive. I LOVED the sausages and steak & kidney pie. Better than the cruise ship version I’d had a few days before. Note the 5 stars reflects my opinion compared to other mall food, not«real» restaurant food.

I loves me some meat pies, and Square Pie delivers and then some. Good prices, very filling, and even vegetarian options!

When I come to London, believe it or not one of the first places I go to is Square Pie! I could live off the Chicken and Mushroom Pie(with mushy peas and mashed potatoes of course!). Here are my favourite pies: — Chicken and Mushroom: Tender white meat in a creamy mushroom sauce — Steak and Guinness: In America this would be a «Pot Pie» with the beef and vegetables. The Guinness adds a richness and tang that can’t be beat. — Steak and Mushroom: Exactly what it says in a rich brown sauce — Chicken, Leek and Ham: The flavorful and tender leeks are sublime with the combination of Chicken and ham. At both the Selfridges and Westfield Square Pie I’ve found the service friendly and efficient. I wish they would add a Square Pie at Heathrow so I could take Square Pie with me when I go home.

They say pies are a Northern working-class thing. Fortunately, Square Pie is here to bring it to the Southern upper-class people, with a stall at the luxurious shopping centre in Shepherds Bush. They sell a wide range of eclectic pies together with some proper mash(with bits of skin!) hot off the bakery oven. Delicious, although the price of £5 for a small meal is a bit much.
