Located in a mall area. Super fancy and nice. Also pricey for Japanese food. This is more Japanses fusion so a little bit different. Save room for the desserts, they have a nice selection of small dishes for desserts and it is very yummy. The crème brûlée is very nice and custardy. Nice to come back for a special occasion but not your everyday Friday night restaurant.

A great and versatile place to go to with friends, a date or coworkers! Not cheap but the food is definitely worth it! This particular Stick N Sushis has an industrial feel to it and there is a great atmosphere, I loved the décor! The staff is friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place for a trendy dinner in London!

Yay sticks and sushi in earth hour ! Nom nom nom Me and my friend went there around 7pm and we didn’t have any tables booked but it was okay, they have tables ! Since I am not a raw food person, we mainly went for the sticks … To start with, grilled edamame was so yummy with a citrus taste after a squeeze from the lemon wedge. We ordered also the shrimp thingy and California rolls. I would say they are average but up to standard. And then main dish!!! the sticks ~~~~Mushroom, beef, chicken meatballs, asparagus and bacon. And yup #girlscaneat and I had them all. They are best when it’s warm. I saw other ppl having this big plate of sushi, certainly looks very well crafted! Man … Typing this makes my stomach growl ! To finish with, I ordered a vanilla crème brûlée ! It’s a tad tiny but it’s nice, not too sweet but with the vanilla flavor which I absolutely adore. For wine, ordered the Malbec. Always like a full bodied wine and that one was just perfect with the food I ordered. For desert wine, we ordered two neat whisky ! Man didn’t I love whisky, the Japanese habiki one was unfortunately unavailable, but others are equally good! Staff are quite attentive and generally have a fun attitude towards what they do. Highly recommended.

The food was just amazing and wonderfully fresh. The rolls and nigiri were really tasty and each piece had a distinctive taste. A lot of sushi places are very standardized and throw sushi/sashimi on the plate without thinking about the experience and harmony of tastes. This places is definitely on the artisan side, even though located in canary wharf. I would venture to say that sticks and sushi one of the best sushi places that I have been to and definitely a reason to visit London. Worth mentioning also is the service, which was extraordinary and we felt like the most important people in the restaurant. Thank you Emanuel, our waiter, for taking care us! I would highly recommend this place.

Incredible food. Tapas style asian bites. Perfect for large groups and small. If you’re debating between this and Royal China, this is a cut above.

This is the second time I’ve been here and the sushi is amazing! I got the daily special(last page on the back of the to share menu). It had a good variety and two of all the rolls I wanted to split with my friend. We also tried the spicy edamame. Even though it wasn’t that spicy, it was delicious! We thought we couldn’t manage to have room for dessert, but we tried the selection of white desserts. We substituted ice cream for the chocolate cake and realized that the chocolate cake was by far the best! The service was polite and attentive. I’d recommend this place for sushi in London.

This was a truly excellent place. We visited for a team dinner. Let’s start out with the fact that I had no idea what to expect of a Danish Japanese restaurant– other than what I figured would be a colossal culture clash. It turned out to be better than I could have imagine with tons of small bites making for a fab experience which kept everyone happy.

Danish sushi… this point confuses me… let just call it a sushi place and be done with it. The food! Was great, I went with the mixed emotions and a side of spare ribs. The puns on the dish name have been made already so I will spare you all from the ribbing… ok well I tried. The mixed emotions is one of their many platters allowing you try a selection of the menu. NIGIRI: 1 salmon, 1 tuna, 1 shrimp KABURIMAKI /TOPPED ROLLS: 2 formidable, 2 ebi cocktail FUTOMAKI: 2 gypsy big. YAKITORI /STICKS: 1 wrapped asparagus, 1 chicken tsukune, 1 miso salmon teriyaki EDAMAMEBEANS&RICE Soy, wasabi & ginger It was all very delicious. Great well priced wine list make for a good Canary Wharf dinner spot.

I’ve been twice to Sticks n Sushi — once when it just opened for lunch, and a second time more recently for dinner. Sticks n Sushi feels like a more modern, less fancy(and less expensive) version of Roka. My colleague and I actually went the first time since Roka was fully booked and we were already mentally prepared for sushi. While the rolls here were decent, nothing was really spectacular. The sticks in the set meal were not great. The menu is pretty stacked to the point that it becomes confusing. So many pictures. Everywhere. I’m not sure what Sticks n Sushi is really going for, but it seems to be a modern«fusion» izakaya, combining sushi and yakitori. Wait, isn’t that what Roka is trying to go for by combining sushi with robata? Yep, seems like it. While I am not a big supporter of Roka, at least it’s refined enough that we can celebration or client events there.

Went here for lunch. Japanese food from a Danish restaurant. I had the teriyaki beef with garlic and chilli and chicken breast teriyaki. Both were soft, succulent and delicious. Service was OK, the setting thought was lovely. Very spacious, airy and would want to stay there for longer if I wouldn’t have had to go back to work. I am planning to go back, this time when I’m super hungry.

I very much enjoyed Sticks and Sushi at the Crossrail place in Canary Wharf. The price is in on the high side, but its not surprising, for one you can check the menu online before you go, second — its Canary Wharf. I really like the restaurant, very modern and smart, certainly fits in with the theme — the modern Japan, the«MUJI» style, plain, bold, very organise look. I can tell they have put quite a lot of attention in the small details, like the bottle of water, toilet signs etc. There are no hippies here I can tell you that. The service was good, very attentive, explains and recommend what’s on the menu, poured our water when our glasses are empty, clear our plates when we finish — just how I like it and if we wanted something change on the menu, they will do it. Note: the restaurant is very large, and lucky we went when it was quiet-ish. I can see bar stools, and tables where you may share with other diners, if it was to get very busy. The food was also good, couldn’t really decide so chose the platter for two, the rolls and sashima were at the right temperature, vinegar content was good, layout and presentation was good. The sticks(yakitori) was interesting, tasted good and full or flavour. I tried the duck hearts for the first time, and that was nice. The desert was so interesting, I had to try, although at this point I was quite full. Black sesame ice cream, I actually liked it, it messes with your brain, the black textured ice cream, and the tasting of it. After the meal, had to walk it off, and what better than strolling on the roof garden above.

Went for lunch with colleagues, and I really liked everything. I ordered rainbow rolls with prawn & spring onion rolls on the side. Everything was delicious. The only downside was that it was small quantity relative to the price — but that’s an issue with the broader Sticks N Sushi franchise, not this restaurant. Service was very good. Our waitress was prompt, and they even served is free edamame beans as our food was being slightly late. Nice, spacious ambience — good for business meals. However, it can get slightly noisy, so do not go if you require quiet. Overall, happy to have this new establishment near my office!

Was looking forward to this but utterly disappointed. I was expecting a casual bar experience similar to izakayas in Japan, but turned out to be pretentious and very average food. We went on a Friday evening and sat at the bar. The service was ok, but couldn’t believe every kushiyaki was for 10 quid on an average with two pieces! Kushiyaki is the sticks in the sticks and sushi. Looking at the exhorbitant prices we decided to order the platter which cost 65 quid and included a small portion of salmon sashimi, salmon sushi, some maki rolls, vegetables which looked wilted and some kushiyaki, the only thing I remember from this platter was the lamb chop. The sashimi or sushi was nothing to write home about and felt as if it was pre-prepared and brought out of a cooler! Everything was doused with sweet sauce, with no particular flavouring. Each cocktail was on average 10 quid, they even charge for water. All in all the total bill for two, with 3 cocktails, 1 glass of wine, one platter and water with gratuity was 115 quid! Gosh what a rip off, CW is desperately in need of more normal places with real food, if only the real estate prices were more reasonable more such places would give way to chains like this one.

Sticks n Sushi, Crossrail Canary Wharf– I am human and I can hardly be objective writing a blog post on Stick n Sushi. To cut long story short, unfairness really peeves me. I should have just walked out in the first instance and in retrospect, I wish I had. But, I live to tell. Sticks n Sushi in Crossrail Canary Wharf is the recent addition of the Danish chain of Japanese food. The place is spotless bordering even on sterile. The black colour scheme fits in with the whole dining scene of Canary Wharf. Shiny and glossy black across the dining room was very trendy and chic partitioned with see through curtains, black of course, has another word to describe Sushi n Sticks — smart. With the seamless flow from the kitchen to the dining room. The menu had a nice layout. The pictures were flaunting every dish alluringly. Where usually visuals speak more than words, I find that with the pictures it turns out to be more confusing. I didn’t know where to begin. Also, by my experience, I knew that these photographs showed enlarged proportions. Apart from the food, I fail to understand why photographs unrelated to either Sticks n Sushi, their food or the food scene in general. Where it belongs is in an art gallery where it could reach out to a more relevant audience who would appreciate the photographs, photographer, or the message that they are trying to convey. In a restaurant, er, why? Back to the menu, if you still can’t decide, Sticks n Sushi provides help(or not) with the availability of set menus; it was even more difficult to choose. And their cute-sey set menu names: not witty. The food was very quickly served which is understandably if their clientele were largely lunch time employees in Canary Wharf. I love the ceramic dishes that were used and I certainly hoped that they had the same good taste for what will be on the plate. Beautiful vibrant colours of food, we all know that food like these are usually is an art of plating. My dining companion thinks that they have actually spent more time plating the food rather than cooking it. Service was good but feels a little hurried. The food on the whole was mediocre. The drinks list in Sticks n Sushi is rather lavish with spirits(although a whisky list without Scottish whisky is not going to please Mrs B), fine wines and interesting names of Japanese cocktail /mocktail names; I was tempted at lunch. Sticks n Sushi should have probably stuck with the bar concept. With the off and on bar snacks. And, perhaps the desserts. Do I want to go back again? The lousy service left a bitter taste in my mouth. They let people interrupt and jump the queue, then saw to them first. Management wasn’t amicable for that matter. Whether it is everyone’s darling or not, it is certainly not mine. So, no. The food: 1. seaweed salad GBP5.50 — the collage of colours was so beautiful. Looking at the dish made me feel healthy and eating it makes me feel a happy diner but there was not quite enough seaweed, just a lot of radish, cucumber and pumpkin seeds. I envied the portion size of our neighbour’s — theirs were more generous than ours. 2. soy cured salmon GBP7.80 — topped with red onion, shiitake, dill, and miso mustard dressing. Start with the good bit. I thought that the shiitake and dill worked very well with the salmon. The not so good bits were the salmon did not taste of soy cured and miso mustard dressing tasted of simple mayonnaise. Not sure of this dish but it was not bad. 3. beef with crunchy chilli and garlic GBP4.00 each — good cut of meat but the crunchy chilli and garlic fail to deliver in flavour. 4. lamb chop topped with miso herbed butter GBP4.00 each — I like the little detail of bone attached to the meat but it was certainly not easy to eat off a skewer. 5. grilled king oyster mushroom with miso herbed butter and supreme soy GBP2.50 — the fungi was nicely and neatly cut which I find it was far too organised. And unfortunately, the kingly trait of the king oyster mushroom was missed. 6. miso marinated black cod GBP8.00 each — three words: beautiful, tender and moist. 7. white coffee crème brulee GBP2.50 8. black sesame ice-cream GBP2.50 — I am surprised that despite looking so intensely black, there was not much earthy and nutty flavour from the black sesame. I find it quite disheartening. Knowing from my own experience of making black sesame that the colour is normally greyish. Never this shiny black.

This is the newest offering at canary wharf where the new crossrail station is located. You get there by leaving the big exit at canary wharf tube, turn right into Canada square and go straight. Right to the outside at the end you will see a line of new restaurants on the right. Came here for the soft launch and got my hands on Hells kitchen roll Rainbow roll Formidable roll Mix sashimi Beef tataki Soy cured salmon Ebi bites Crispy, love the chili on top to give it some kick. Companion commented it tasted slightly like squid which surely must be a compliment! This is a fried prawn starter! Coal crab roll I do not recommend ordering this because you can barely taste anything, it is very bland. Desserts are really really good here. I love all of the ones I’ve tried. Overall they have a bit of teething problems, lights weren’t working properly, but their staff training is still better than average, love their attitude to customers. They always try to accommodate requests. Food wise its not the tear inducing meal that I’ve had my first time Covent garden. That must have been an exceptional chef that day! Still, sushi looked good and tasted good. And now that this yummy restaurant is close to home, I’ll be here often!
