Nice selection — informal type canteen-esque feeling, really bright lighting, accommodating staff. I always have the duck red thai curry — with extra tomatos. Is very rich.

The part of Brixton Road closest to the Oval Tube Station is a hodge podge of various cuisines including the fairly hilariously named«Tennessee Fried Chicken.» However, it was seriously lacking East Asian cuisines until the recent opening of this sushi bar. I went in with low expectations, but ended up very pleasantly surprised. For one, their lunch menu is very reasonably priced(£4.99 for all set lunches including salmon teriyaki and/or a generously portioned sushi set). And, their regular menu includes a nice variety of dishes including various types of sushi, sashimi, ramen, and so on. Quality-wise, it wasn’t the best I’d ever had(but I *did* grow up in California, so I’ve had some very good sushi in my day), but it wasn’t half-bad. The fish was fresh and, while the miso soup was a bit salty, everything tasted good. I found the waitstaff fairly friendly and the ambiance was clean and simple. Reviews around the blogosphere seem to suggest that his place fills up quite often, which is good because it’s about time that my trips to the Stockwell area get bolstered with a sushi fix.
