Not my usual style to write a review of a supermarket chain store, but someone has to say the following: * Finsbury Park is a terribly run store. Who is asleep at the wheel here?! Frequently there are no staff members monitoring the self-service checkouts. That’s the most BASIC objective of a 21st century supermarket — to keep those self-service checkouts running smoothly. * Frequently have to go hunting for your own basket. Golden rule #2… how hard is it to maintain a steady supply of baskets at the store entrance? * Wine confusingly placed in close proximity to the dine-for-two deals, which do not actually count as part of the deal. I’ve never been caught out by this, but my friends have. I’m convinced Tesco do this on purpose. * The small bags around the vegetables frequently run out. Not rocket science to maintain their supply, is it? * Generally frustrating store layout — shoppers always fail to realise the self-service queue. fail fail fail

Bigger than a Tesco Metro but not a full size supermarket either. Good section of food. Queues can be a nightmare!

A world apart from the Tesco by the tube station in Finsbury Park– this Tesco is more like a proper supermarket than an uninspiring corner shop. They seem to have everything you want– great for a cheap lunch, picking up something after work en route home to make a quick supper with and also good if you are looking for a cheap digital radio as I was last week. The shelves are kept stocked with things you want to eat and unlike most supermarkets, this one doesn’t send me into an instant spin of panic– it’s actually quite relaxing. I’m not sure how I’d feel if I had to do my weekly shopping in her, but great for all the bits inbetween, especially last minute bbq supplies. Rock on.
