We were looking for Sunday Roast as we walked from the National Portrait gallery to Fortnum & mason. We were directed here by another publican who didn’t serve Sunday roast. This tiny pub has an interesting history, as told by the server/barmaid. There were complimentary hors d’oeuvres on the bar, which our server told us was a traditional Sunday offering that not many pubs actually followed anymore. Sunday roast was good, not the best I’ve had, but straightforward, standard roasted chicken. The potatoes were a bit difficult to cut into, but once you get through the crispy exterior, they were yummy inside. Our bill was £22 — 2 roasts, a diet coke and a half-pint draft beer. Atmosphere was lively. We finished our roast and left just as the live music was starting. From what we could tell, the live music drew a healthy crowd.

Old school pub with old school pub food! Chips don’t get better than this!!! I’ll be back again when I’m in town for lunch.

Worst experience I have ever had at a bar. My friends and I came for comedy night and as soon as we get inside the guy who checked our IDs yells at us and tells us to buy something or get out. Excuse me we just sat down can we breathe a little and try to decide what we would like… apparently not! The venue is dirty and disgusting more so than a stereotypical bar. Thanks for the worst service, it was a horrible experience.

In my opinion, these sort of places are good when you either couldn’t care less about where you sit, what you drink & eat OR(as in our case) it’s bank holiday weekend and everything else is either closed or extremely packed. The place smells of beer, there are sport channel screens, the service is not motivated or wonderful, the atmosphere is cold, people around not interesting and the drinks very ordinary and of bad quality. So if you happen to end up at The Blue Post, just drink beer and scream: ‘GOAL!!’

It’s one of the few local pubs for local-ish people in the West End. It’s nothing special — just your standard pub with standard beer etc but it just has a nice vibe to it. Few tourists, slightly off the beaten track. I like the Japanese bartender with the mohawk!

The musical talent that features here for free, both upstairs and on Sunday afternoon the whole of downstairs too, makes this pub rock. Such a good atmosphere.

We ended up in here when a downpour forced us to run through Chinatown to find shelter. My Dad remembered this place from when he worked in Soho in the 1980’s. He says that little has changed. I like that. Incidentally, the were playing lots of great 1980’s tunes too, more the Smiths than Madonna. The bar staff were really friendly, there appeared to be a bunch of regulars perched at the bar and then a couple of tourists wandering in by accident for some afternoon relief. We enjoyed a couple of rounds here and would definitely visit again.

I can’t fault too much in this pub. The drinks selection is plentiful and are good value, the people who run it are friendly and welcoming, the food is cheap and of a decent quality(it also clearly isn’t factory processed chain pub food either). On Sundays the place is completely transformed with a New Orleans style Jazz band and the boy does it get busy! You’ll oft find some of the musicians playing from on top of the bar it’s both brilliant and a must see. They also have regular comedy and quiz nights too…

Fantastic down to earth boozer. A joy to drink in, with some real character in its run down interior. Don’t come here if you’re looking for a chic gastro pub, with lots of comfy leather sofas. Its thread bare, ripped up foam seating, dusty fittings, but has a charm all its own.

I come to this pub pretty much every Tuesday for the Pub Quiz and it is just jam-packed with character. Downstairs is cosy and always seems to be full of regulars. Upstairs is even cosier(read: tiny) and on a Tuesday becomes rammed. Getting a table becomes trickier than holding onto a bargain in the new year sales. The quiz man — Andy — is awesome. Self-deprecating, charming and he doesn’t mind taking a bit of back-chat when the questions get too tricky! His quiz is always mega. Sometimes there’s a music round, more than often there isn’t. Picture rounds are always fun and the link questions are fiendishly tricky. The barman deserves a special mention for being a right character. Ask him to make a cocktail and prepare for disappointment: «no, then everyone would want one…», but he get’s away with it and he seems to be a fixture of the place. The food is standard pub food but pretty good value and quite yummy. Eat a WHOLE massive burger though and you WILL regret it. So a great rowdy quiz in a nice old boozer in SoHo, what’s not to love?

Tucked off to the side of Chinatown, great for a pint and crisps, but I would avoid a full meal. A bit loud, but we were able to hear ourselves think. A nice stop off when shopping, but not a destination.

I came here on Tuesday for the pub quiz and we had a great time. The quiz is just right — the kinda of questions that make you go «ooooh, I know that» and then sit there while you can’t remember the answer. Between five of you. Heh. Heaps of fun. We came a very respectable 4th. The pub itself is split over two levels, and at first glance the top bar isn’t great. But! They have a dumb waiter! Which means you can ask for a pint of ale, and they’ll get the little elves to whoosh it up from the cellar(or, the barmen from the bar downstairs if you want to be boring about it). Barman was friendly, always up for a chat(not so much fun when I really wanting to get settled — we’d already made the guys at the table squish up in the corner, I didn’t want to annoy them any more than i had to. But, I liked the old guy, he was fun. Basically, in an area that’s a bit sparse until you get into Soho, this pub is a great little find. You won’t be bored, you’ll get a decent pint, and you’re within skipping distance of the tube. I’ll be back for the pub quiz!

This is just your normal, run-of-the-mill West End Young’s pub. It was reasonably busy on a Saturday night, with people warming up for a night out. It’s really small downstairs and we ended up sitting on stools in the corridor. A lot of people stood outside in the alley. There’s not really much to comment on here — the prices were ok, location convenient and beer cold.

A traditional pub in the heart of Soho. The venue is very old and if you happen to be in the upstairs bar area it is very hot with no air conditioning. Although it is a pleasant environment and less clinical and manufacturered like some of the theme bars in the surrounding area.

At the promise of a large private upstairs party, Blue Post was the destination. From an offshoot of Coventry Street, this pub has two levels. On the ground floor is a smaller pub with several tables and a full bar. Upstairs is a slightly larger area with two smaller bars around it. This«large accommodating» upstairs space got crowded with about 120 people in it, with no real signs of any couches or places to lounge. The prices were reasonable, but not enough to stand out and make an impact positively or negatively on your bill fold.

The Blue Posts have been fantastic to a society I belong to — they have a lovely function room upstairs they’ve been happy to lend to us for meetings in exchange for us spending a few pennies in the bar downstairs — and this isn’t a difficult thing to do thanks to the lovely range of lagers and real ales available here at an excellent price. It’s quite a wee small pub so it can be difficult finding a seat sometimes — but to me, small is beautiful and it’s well worth taking the gamble that you’ll find a place to plonk yourself down. In summer there’s ample space outside. A lovely homely place at the heart of Soho!

Great little pub that’s a fun music venue. In a tiny street just at the edge of Chinatown. Surprisingly original, old, and un-touristed given its Soho location. It’s very small, and if you have your pint out in the alley you won’t be able to admire the trinkets and shelves and dusty old detail on the walls. A great old dive. Best of all, they have very regular live jazz music. Don’t be surprised to see that one end of the already-tiny pub is taken up by a guy at a drumkit, a bass player and a saxophonist, cookin’ up some swing. There’s a dedicated group of attendees, much like the blues scene over at Ain’t Nothin But…( )

This is a hidden pub in China Town. It’s very small so when we went for a drink we had to stand outside. Its great when you also have great company. The décor of the pub is old fashioned and looks like it has been there for years which is a nice touch if you want traditional. Great customer service from the owners.

Stumbled across this place about a year ago but totally forgot where it was until I went there by accident again tonight! A proper old pub in the heart of Soho — like stepping back in time. It’s very quiet, especially contrasted with the busy streets outside, packed with people who don’t seem to notice this place as they bustle past. They’ve got an array of green plants in pots all along the sills of the frosted windows, which is quite curious but welcome. Somewhere definitely to go for a quiet respite, but probably not where you’d want to spend a whole evening.

This pub is quite an interesting discovery. It is extremely centrally located in Chinatown/Soho, but feels more like a local pub than a city centre one. The prices are pretty good for somewhere that’s in the centre of town, and the crowd is as expected pretty diverse. If there is no space downstairs(it is quite small and gets packed easily), there are more seats in an upstairs room which is decorated with modern art(for sale). All in all, makes a nice change from some of the more chain establishments in the west end. Also they do jazz every Sunday.
