What a pub! We got here at 1030 and it is a great late night crowd. Just good energy and great company! And great beer!

A small but quaint little pub to rest with a beer after a long walk in town. Randomly decorated but it has character and a warm welcome from the staff!

Quaint place, quiet. Fireplace is burning away and helps ease the transition from sunny 40’s to evening. DoomBar on tap, going to miss all these awesome ales soon enough…

When we were in London, it was cold outside. One way to fight the cold was to enter a pub for a beer. This place is near Chinatown, so we wandered in. This pub had the luxury of a fire place. We were able to get warm. This place also had like a mini elevator for drinks. The bar was on the first floor and we sat on the second floor. The bartender would send the drinks up the elevator rather than make us walk down to pick them up or rather than make him walk up to give them to us. The prices weren’t cheap, but they were London average. It’s a great place to have a drink and to get warm.

What can I say ??? Still one of my favourite places for a cheeky beer in downtown, probably thanks to the manual mini-lift to order drinks, and to the great view you have on Wardour and Lisle streets, if you sit in the corner upstairs.

Solid Meh! Nothing special to offer, which is a shame as Waxy’s Little Sister has plenty of charm but remains little more than a pit-stop. Guinness, Caffrey’s and a handful of other uninspiring choices await you at the barman’s(who was really rather nice) fingertips. I opted for a bottle of Bombardier and the Lady-friend had a bottle of Kopparberg — as diverse as it gets. Of course there are spirits and wine available too but I doubt either of those lists will be particularly extensive. Although the upstairs area is very nice, with it’s sofa’s and fireplace, unfortunately there’s every chance that there won’t be any seats available as everyone who comes in to Waxy’s Lil Sis wants to sit on a sofa or by the fireplace. All this means is you’ll be sitting downstairs in the dim, plain surroundings. Not unpleasant but lacking in comfort, especially in contrast to what you’re missing out on in the snug upstairs. I haven’t been in on a Friday or Saturday evening so the craic(!?) might be a wonderful thing. However, I suspect it’s a lot like the afternoons in which I’ve been in attendance only busier and louder. To me this just means that you’ll be waiting longer to get your drinks in. And still not have a comfy sofa. Still, it’s preferable to the Slug And Lettuce or O’Neill’s pubs nearby. Meh! Ian

I love this typical irish Pup. The best Place to be in Soho.

Just around the corner from the big sister, this pub is small, but quaint. The beer is average London priced and the fireplace is nice during cold days. There really isn’t anything to differentiate this place from the many other watering holes in the area. The barman was grumpy, but the wifi was free.

A fitting name for this place. It’s smaller than Waxy’s across the street whose music is louder and a lot roomier, this quaint little venue is adorable and comfortable, with so many less people. The upstairs is where you need to be, where there is a nice balcony looking directly into downstairs, and lots of comfy couches. There is an old school dumbwaiter that allows you to order drinks from upstairs by placing your order on a note pad and sending down some cash. Unfortunately if you need to pay with card, you’d have to find your way downstairs, but they can still send ur drink up by the dumbwaiter so you dont have to hold five drinks in your hand to get up the narrow stairs fighting with ppl going downstairs.

Kleiner Pub in der Londoner Innenstadt. Eigentlich nichts besonderes, aber der Getränkeaufzug war schon ein kleines Highlight! Einfach eine nette Art seine Getränke zubekommen!

this is a quaint little pub, looks old y worldly, which i like, it was cold and they had the open fire on. We only went for a quick beer, it was quiet but nice, we sat by the window and just people watched while we were there. They do know how to pull a Guinness here.

There’s not really anything special about this pub. It’s not too shabby, it’s just very generic. We found ourselves here after the pub quiz we were meant to go to was packed. This was the nearest option with enough space for eight quiz geeks. And well… everything was fine. Beer was fine, vibe was fine, prices were… actually, I didn’t pay, I don’t know if they were fine or not. There’s just nothing about this place that would make me come here. And it annoys me that there’s nothing even slightly treehousey like it’s ‘big sister’. It’s just a pub. But, the upside to it being ‘just a pub; is that on a sunny evening, in the middle of Soho, you can have a comfortable pint where every second sentence isn’t ‘excuse me’. So it wins points there. So basically, it’s good because it’s a little more rubbish than the rest of the pubs nearby.

On Unilocal, this venue is a love it/hate it establishment, depending on what night of the week you’re there. Maybe all Unilocalers need is a bit of expectation management to sort things out. Take these Waxy-5 tips to heart and you will enjoy yourself: 1. It’s an Irish pub — don’t order a mojito. Stick with Jameson. Or Guinness. 2. Avoid weekends at all cost. 3. Sneak upstairs. You’ll find a perfect fireplace-y setting to warm your cockles and envy the glory of a dumbwaiter. 4. Look up at the ceiling. You’ll be impressed, I promise. 5. Avoid weekends at all cost.(It was worth repeating). Wednesday night at 8pm was a perfect time to indulge in a Jameson & Ginger(or 4), chat it up with the exceptionally pleasant staff, and pretend to know slightly more than nothing about«The Rugby» everyone was clamouring on about. Sláinte!

One of the few places in Soho where I can get a Hot toddy without getting also a dirty look from the bartender… Nice during winter to have a drink upstairs by the fireplice, very cosy.

This is a quaint little pub — little sister of the behemoth Waxy O’Conner’s. I actually like it better. The prices are average for Soho. I always get Guinness, but they also serve cocktails and wine. The interior is charming, if a bit bijou, but the best thing about the pub is the cosy seating area upstairs, complete with fireplace. You don’t have to traipse downstairs to order a drink, just send your order down to the bar in the dumbwaiter and the bartender will send your drinks up the same way. On evenings that are not the weekend, you can reserve the upstairs area for a party, free of charge. I guess this is assuming everyone will buy drinks.

Irish pub Waxy O’Connor can get pretty rammed in the evenings, so if you want the same kind of atmosphere that’s a little less boisterous, then it might be a good place to escape to. I’ve come here myself for that very reason. I have to say, wasn’t very impressed. The former site of the Falcon, it seems to have lost its charm but increased its prices and the staff are anything but the comradely folk you’d expect in an Irish drinking hole. There’s nothing out of the ordinary as far as the beers go either, if you’re looking for Irish, then the best you’ll get is Guinness. The name is pretty fitting really, it looks the part but this place is very much the little sibling that no-one has paid much attention to. Poor thing.

Smaller sister bar to Waxy O’Connor’s around the corner this irish pub is basically more of the same in a more intimate venue. The décor is great, very traditional, but the dark woods and leather sofa’s are fantastic and make your stay nice and cozy. You really can settle in for the night. Drinks prices are standard West End prices though for the sticklers amongst you, you’ll be happy to know that this is one Irish Bar that genuinely knows how to pour a proper pint of the ‘black stuff’. Also great for visiting guests or tourists.

Nice little pub, directly across the the road from her big brother. As usual, no real ales, but the Guinness is served correctly and is well worth the wait. A tad expensive and there are plenty of cheaper pubs in the area, but if you like a pint of stout, then check this place lout
