The Britannia is a classic lovely local pub that serves a wide range of variety of whiskies. The staff are friendly, and it’s usually suitably busy, with no crazy queues at the bar, but not completely dead. I’ve never eaten here but have smelt the wonders of their pizza and seen one and thought it looked good. Definitely a lovely place to visit if you’re in the area :)

So this place has always been good for scotch, but now it’s not bad for beer either. I nipped in last night and had a great IPA to wash down a lovely Tamdhu Speyside single malt. It was so nice it did it twice. It has a good atmosphere, the patrons seem to be mostly medical students, it’s lively, but not rowdy. This tiny area behind the Guys hospital has a few good pubs and this is not one you should pass by if you like a drop of whisky, they seem to have dozens.

was surprised to find a pub I didn’t know about in the back streets near London Bridge! This place is actually alright, with a couple of decent beers(their emphasis is on whiskey). We invented a concept of trainspotter spotting while a tasty looking dessert started a chain reaction of ordering!

Inoffensive pub offering all you need for a quick evening drink. Near to London Bridge but not too busy. Has a nice little patio area.

I’m in a dilemma, I want tot give it two stars but I think that I did have a hilarious time here for my mate’s birthday. The staff were friendly, the karaōke was hilariously bad(Yes, it started off with party pieces and as the drink flowed, the music got more slit-my-wrists depressing) BUT the pitchers were, uhm terrible. Why does the mojito taste like smirnoff ice?(For the record, I HATE alcopops and i absolutely detest smirnoff ice– it tastes URGHHH) and the cosmo just tasted like cranberry and vodka with too much sugar. The only one that tasted alright was pimms, but you can’t screw that up. Food wasn’t great. My medium beef was quite, well done and chewy. left most of it. Fun fact, the blue light in the pub makes my peas look brown. LOL But it was hilarious, I had a great time catching up with my mates, and we had a tastecard that gave us 50% off, so we only paid like £40 for a few pitchers, a main each and starters. And for the record, the staff are quite lovely. argh dilemma.

I came here the other day with a friend of mine for an impromptu lunch who said ‘we need to go to this awesome burger place’. Although I came there for the burgers, which yes was really good(massive and tasty), what really cauight my eye was this place is a whisky bar? There is a blackboard on a wall with about 200 types of alphabeticalised single malts all of which seem to be pretty reasonable prices. As it was lunch, I couldnt really delve into tasting a few but I will definitely be coming back, if not just for the burger but most definitely to sample some of the drinks. When we went, it was completely dead, and I remarked to my friend that this was quietest pub I haad ever been to but actually this was nice, and possibly becuase it’s *slilghtly* off the beaten track, though a few more ppl did walk in as we were leaving. I can imagine this place is quite busy on a Friday or ion the evenings. Coming back soon!

A steady performer for the area. I have been visiting the ‘Brit’ for a number of years. The main reasons that you would come here — Decent food, although slightly high prices for the area. Extensive Whiskey and Bourbon menu. Friendly staff. Less busy at peak times than other bars in the area. The downsides of the place are that the décor is tired and the couches really do look like your nan threw them away and The Brittania pulled them out of the skip.

Now, you would think that to a whisky enthusiast, a pub offering 80 odd single malts would be an enormous boon. For some reason the odd Mexican standoff at the bar where we tried to pick a whisky while the barman repeatedly said«You should try Ardbeg, it’s really different. Smoky.» weirded me out a little. Accompanied by the quietest Led Zeppelin you’ve ever heard. You would probably find it challenging to get a good vibe going in here.

I was a regular at the Britannia when I worked in London. Admittedly I haven’t been there for a couple of years now but I used to love visiting there. Food was pretty good but lets face it, I went there for whisky(of which there were ~200 listed on a blackboard which, when I first went there for a friend’s leaving party, made my eyes shine for, dear friends, it was love at first sight). I went there to drunkenly chatter to the bar manager, who introduced me to some of my(now) favourite brands of whisky. A great game — close your eyes, waggle your hands in the air and point to a random whisky. Any bar who has Betty Boo in the corner is a friend of mine.

Great pub offering a great selection of Scotch. I would guess that they have over 50 on the list. Friendly staff and great ales make this perfect for a quiet drink during the week.

A lovely pub in a less than lovely area! It’s tucked away from the main road, so you have to look hard for it and aren’t likely to just stumble across it. Inside is warm and welcoming, with some comfortable sofas in the back area and tables with bench-style seating in the front of the bar. Always been quite busy any time I have been, but not as packed as some of the bars nearer to London Bridge station usually are. The food here is good, and portions are quite large. There is a good selection of wine, and Bombadier on tap, as well as an extensive range of whiskeys.

Nice chilled out pub. Huge selection of whiskeys and a broad menu of standard pub food with a little more flare than normal. I believe all the food is home made. Bombardier is on tap, and numerous other beers. The Britannia has a outside area on the left hand side, but this is not terribly attractive as it’s just off the pavement in a paving slabbed area. It looks like it used to be a parking space. Inside there is plenty of seating, although you can still have trouble finding a seat on Friday lunchtimes occasionally. The manager recommends reserving a table at busy times. They don’t play music, so this would be a good place if you wanted a chat. One of the better pubs in the area, especially for food.
