Awesome comedy nights on Friday and Saturday. Best value comedy in London. Lovely space just a short walk from London Bridge tube station. I don’t know what I’d do with myself on the weekends if it weren’t for the Miller.

This was my local when I used to live just across the park and I saw it go through a couple of changes, particularly in the menu. Its current iteration is pretty good, especially when accompanied by one of their fantastic beers. This was the first pub in the neighborhood that started selling the Kernel, Brew By Numbers, Partizan… all the great beers from the area. While the bar staff doesn’t always know the goldmine of bottled beers on which they sit, they are friendly and contribute to the generally relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The music is also great and varied. If that wasn’t enough, they have a steady stream of entertainment, including comedy and music shows, and a practice space you can hire. Really unique spot. I’m sad it’s not my local anymore.

This pub is not much to look like from the outside, but the ambiance inside is eclectic and welcoming. Various forms of entertainment include a pool table, a ping pong table, occasional live music and comedy shows. Unfortunately have still not gotten around to trying to the pop up kitchen, but looks promising. However, most importantly, they have a great selection of local breweries(mostly in the bottle). Highly recommend trying a bottle of Kernel or Partizan(if you haven’t already), brewed in nearby railway arches.

I love the creativity vibe of the Miller. I was introduced may years ago whilst exhibiting at a Christmas craft fair and have have been a fan since. They always seem to have something going on, a comedy night, some sort of production, a craft fair or a event/group meeting. the staff are laid back, but friendly and the clientele, whilst they feel quite ‘studenty’ in their attitude, seem approachable and friendly. I’ve also been here quite a few time for the monthly ‘burner’ meet ups(London based Burning Man and Nowhere festival goers). The back room is taken over by those pining for the desert and connecting with like minded souls. And that is really something that sums the Miller up. It’s such a good communal space full of artwork, that lines the ceilings, walls and every nook and space. It’s usually busy, but never too noisy and it’s easy to have a casual and productive conversation with people without having to shout over any background track. Although the graffiti and laid back feel of this place in some ways makes it feel a bit like a 6th form common room, i really enjoy the relaxed nature of this venue — and who says I didn’t like, or that I didn’t want to reminisce about 6th form! If you’re hungry they do have some good hot dogs on offer, although I do prefer the salad’s, The Salmon one is my favourite, comes with some good grains and is quite filling. Although I would recommend the rosemary chips — they are definitely worth a shot! Also with a good selection of changing beers and ciders as well as a great selection of proof alcohol, there is always a new tipple to try if different alcoholic solutions are your bag. Not a million miles away from London Bridge, this is by far one of the better pubs in the area that I’ve visited. I would also recommend the comedy night. It’s worth a book — but I also noticed that they had a Raspberry Pi Meetup group — which might appeal to some of you nerds out there!

A great friendly buzzy pub with a good range behind the bar. Just a few mins from London Bridge Station, but just out of the tourist trap is The Miller. It’s a big olé pub with lots of space. So much space it even has it’s own ping pong ball table. Top tip– don’t sit around the table unless you’re going to play. Depending on the skill of the people hiring the table, you could get a ping-pong ball in your pint like me: D. There’s a mixture of furniture and a lot of random stickers/posters on the walls. The bright red walls and creeky furniture make it the perfect student bar. It’s a strange community so close to the busy commuter station. I wouldn’t normally have come here, but my best friend was singing in a competition upstairs. Music seems to be a big part of this pub as there are a lot of events going on here-there and everywhere. The staff were mega cool, laid back and friendly and the prices were reasonable for the area. I’d go back if there was something else going on.

Sooooooo, mixed bag. I liked the vibe. A traditional pub with Thai food… who wouldn’t be curious with that? I will say the place had a wierd smell to it, but its a traditional pub, so i guess i should expect that. You find a place to sit, go up to the counter to order and then someone delivers it to you. I had the noodle soup with chicken and asked for extra spice, which I got… and couldnt complain by any means. except they had gotten my order wrong and i had to wait an additional 30 mins for my food :(hungry namita = mad namita. Hubby had chicken veggies and fried rice. He was disappointed bc he thought it was supposed to be a curry but it was good nonetheless. It was really crowded for a Wed night but I think this place was made for students who dont mind waiting and would rather get wasted.

The Miller is a small pub situated next to Guy’s Hospital. Most of the customers are students as there is a University hall of residence right by it. Occasionally there are charity sales taking place at the pub, which then the pub is converted temporarily into a second hand clothes market. The food here is reasonably priced, and is mainly Thai. Or it’s supposed to be Thai. It is rather obvious that whoever the chef is he/she probably doesn’t know much about Thai food. Although it’s not authentic, it is still quite tasty. I would probably compare it with some top notch ready meals. It isn’t bad at all, it just isn’t very satisfying. However the portions are very generous, so for hungry students it is ideal. The interior is very spacious, and it has seating area outside as well. Despite the food being mediocre, a pub does what a pub does, and it sure satisfies your need for alcohol. I would say this is a nice place to have a drink, and the food is not bad, but if there are so many other choices in the area, I probably won’t come back for food again.

There was no where to sit which as there seems to be many wide open spaces where more tables and chairs, or stools and high tables could happily fit and not upset any fireman. Went on a Friday night to what Magic and Puss a stripper/magic/burlesque show. Me thinks not! don’t recommend it.

This is a rather cool pub which is surprising given the building it occupies. It is somehow more Camden than Bermondsey. Clientelle are younger locals, and students from the hospital. Its ‘not a bad place to sink a few, go in rather than go past if it isn’t incredibly busy, but not a place to seek out and inhabit.

Average pub, good selection of beers but really just a sort of privatised local student union bar

I come here for the Hungry Miller’s Comedy Laughbag every Monday night at 8. It’s the best value comedy club I know in London, £3 online(£4 on the door), for top professional opening and closing acts, and several good quality new acts in between. The quality of the compering varies. The pub itself is quirkily decorated, which works well, and offers very decent ale, as well as pretty good though slightly pricy Thai food. When you include a few beers at pub instead of club prices, this is a ridiculously cheap night of excellent comedy.

Yes, this pub has changed a lot since this photo. It’s a cool drinking hole conveniently located next to London Bridge station(walk through the hospital to get there quickly). Because of its location, the patrons are quite student-y with lots of medics. But they do comedy nights and gigs there in the room above. It’s also one of those pubs that does yummy Thai food at very reasonable prices. I’m glad its now on my radar.

This is a cool happening bar walking distance to my home. I came here with my flat mate who is a regular here. Thinking we would wind up in one of those old man bars as those types of bars are rip in this area, but turned out to be pretty cool. They had a discount on shots… seemed great at the time, but 12 hours later came to regret that! I assume since they had a discount board, that they offer discounts regularly. They also have an outdoor area! Not that you get to use it much in London(brrrr), but its handy on the 3 days of summer!

The pub has changed since the picture taken here — it’s now known as The Miller and hosts a number of comedy nights in the room above the pub — where Hoopla! comedy and other impro/stand up groups perform. Reasonable selection of beer and cider behind the bar and a couple of seasonal ales on tap. Interrior is a little studenty but it’s in a student area — so comes with the territory! Overall, a decent place to have a beer.

Somewhere between three and four. This is a really nice out-of-the-way place to while away a few hours, especially in the afternoon when you’re pretending to your boss that your special tests at Guy’s is taking the whole day when you were in and out in a few minutes. Decent ales, beers, etc. A bit on the pricey side. The food is… indifferent, really. An open letter: Dear Landlords: If you know how to make excellent thai food, by all means, please do. If not, really, I’d rather have indifferent pub grub. It’s meant to be filling and hearty and all umami. Thai food should have flavour. That is all, Glen M On the upside it’s never too busy(nor too quiet) and a decent place to pass some nice time.

This place is off the road less taken around London Bridge. It is a pub that serves thai food. The food looked good, but didn’t eat any as I was just there for drinks with some friends. Good bar service, fast. The décor was nice with leather sofas and funny art like stormtroopers in a Michael Jackson pose. Apparently it also has comedy and live music nights too. Really chilled vibe. I have had some good nights at the Miller. I’ve had some mediocre nights also. Last night was mediocre. Because I have been to the Miller so many times, one can get a little immune to the place. They stock a great range of drinks, with huge selections of Vodka, Whiskey and Rum, which really is great for this area. The décor is the other point that really sets the Miller apart from the competition around — almost every wall has a different style of vivid wallpaper that really gives an interesting edge to the place, which also really sets it apart from so many of the bland bars and pubs UK-wide. The food served here is decent — a mix of standard pub food and Thai dishes. I have eaten here for lunch and for dinner, both have been great. The staff are generally OK here, but for some reason, on my last visit, they did and said the bare minimum. There is a whole area upstairs that holds gigs. Although I have yet to go to one, friends who have been say that the standard of bands booked is decent. There is also an area within the bar that can be hired, if you want a private event, which I have previously been a part of for various work leaving/birthday drinks. All in all, for the area, The Miller is great and the busy trade that they do here of an evening is testament to that.

Very funky décor in the downstairs bar here(possibly having had a makeover since the previous review) and Of Mansfield seems to have been dropped from the name. The Thai food is as stated below very good indeed and the service courteous. I was in on a mid-week early afternoon in February so there were not a great many other customers but even at that time the background music was well thought out and so boded well for the evening crowd. Clearly a good choice for an all day session or as a comfy and laid back initial starting point for a night on the town.

The Miller is a bit of a strange one. There is a quite large, reasonably well appointed beer garden(which, as an unrepentant smoker, is always a plus) — however said beer garden is pretty much on the main road, so you get all the joys of dust, traffic noise and excellent views of construction workers picking their noses as they go about their interminable business in the London Bridge area. The menu is a mix of classic Brit and somewhat unadventurous Thai food. To further confuse, the former is pretty bog standard, while the latter is utterly delicious. As Thai food in pubs goes, The Miller is a definite contender for my top 10 — although I would stay away from the sickeningly sweet Pad Thai. The décor is unremarkable, the staff are nice enough and the loos smell reassuringly of disinfectant. If you are in the area at lunch time, I would drop in. In any other circumstances, I really don’t see the point.
