The atmosphere was a bit mixed between young professionals and tourists. Small place with a beer selection that feels like it belongs in Spitalfields. The staff was ok at best. The manager was drunk by 9:00pm and sat down at our table, failed to introduce himself(we thought he was some weird drunk). He interrupted our conversation and proceeded to give me grief about what my friend had ordered me. Needless to say we left after we finished our drinks. It was disappointing because the place seemed to have potential that was ruined by bad staff.

Unless fish & chips are supposed to be full of bones, stay away from this place.

Seemed to be as authentic of a London pub as we could fine right near our hotel. Got there around 5pm on a Friday so all the working stiffs were leaving their jobs. It was crazy, a line of like 1000 people passed us within an hour I bet. A good 10% stopped here on the their way home for a pint, a smoke and to talk to a friend. Came here with the boys in the group(even my 7mo old son) and we had a few beers and just watched the scene. Great spot.

This place just reopened after a renovation. I don’t know what changed, but if they revamped the food and drinks, they did an amazing job. I had a great pint of Chestnut Ale, as well as a really well-done Scotch Egg and a pink and tender roast beef sandwich. Service was really attentive, food was delicious, and the remodeled interior is cozy yet modern. Highly recommended if you’re in the vicinity of Liverpool Station.

While there’s been a pub here since God was a boy, this is very much a «gastro-pubbed/speciality brew» incarnation. I’m not complaining, jus’ sayin. If I wanted somewhere a bit scrubbier, or more traditional, I’d head over to the likes of The Gun. Beers, the focus of my last visit, were good and well kept — one or two unusual items(like a dark IPA — more akin to a stout, seemed like an oxymoron to me but slipped down easily enough). The menu looked presentable, although was left unsampled.
