One of my favourite Wetherspoons, located in Highgate village this pub has a bit of a country feel to it with fireplaces and the warm cosy layout. It’s usually pretty easy to find a table and being served at the bar is pretty quick. Food arrives quickly and it always tastes good. Bonus everything is pretty cheap especially the drinks.

As Wetherspoons go, this is a good one. The staff were prompt, friendly and quick to serve, and there were good deals on meals etc. available as manager’s specials. NB: this is just a Wetherspoons!

My friends and I use this as our regular pub for relaxed drinks and a catch up. The prices are great, the staff is helpful and friendly. The food is also surprisingly tasty, especially around Christmas time when you can get a full Christmas meal and they have nice big tables for larger parties. The interior is slightly dated but it adds to the charm. Overall a nice traditional pub feel.

Great real ale. Wetherspoons pub. Steak night(tuesday) and curry night(thursday) are ones to remember. Very reasonable prices for London. Some beers are £2 and not cheap slop, real cask ale that is served in excellent condition. Slightly pub-chain décor so not a 5⁄5. Good pub.

The Gatehouse is part of the Wetherspoon Pub UK chain so it’s a bit cookie cutter in the atmosphere and the menu. Because it is part of a large corporation, the prices and daily specials makes it one of the best values in the UK for drinking and average dining. You are NOT going to find gourmet quality or creative menus here. The menu is classic British pub fare but fresh and good quality. They have daily themes, such as Thursday Curry and Friday fish & Chips where for 5.99 quid you get a decent meal and am adult beverage thrown in for good measure. There is NO other pub that I know of in central London if you want to drink cheaply that offers such good prices. I enjoy wine and all of the other pubs and restaurants generally charge 5 – 6 quid for a glass, that translates into $ 8 or $ 9USD per glass… You can’t catch a buzz without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is cozy and the outdoor patio pleasant with hanging flower baskets. Yes you see a lot of families, senior citizens and plain, unpretentious middle class folk here because it’s one of the few places that is pleasant and affordable in London. It’s not the kind of pub you would want to take a first date to if you wanted to impress… better to go to the Flask down the street for gourmet style pub cuisine and romantic atmosphere. Since it is literally around the corner from our London home it’s a great place for a nightcap.

Its just filled with a bunch of old farts who spend there pensions on booze. Service is usually crap and slow. Food is average. good value for money and a very good selections of drinks. Nice beer garden. Worth a visit if you’re local and fancy a drink… Not worth visiting if you’re looking for an experience.

Nothing bad to report, just not my type of pub. Bar tender was great. The Gatehouse is just a your average local pub and proud. Simple

This is a nice(ish) place. It’s Wetherspoons so you can expect a variety of cheap ales and food. I have eaten three times there, and each time it has been good food, steak cooked perfect and also a nice Curry. The pub has a theatre so it can be quite busy in the evenings. Nice mix of people too but thankfully no lefties putting the world to rights(it is Highgate don’t forget) All-in-all a good place for a cheap drink and food just pick your times carefully.

Went up to posh Hampstead Highgate to meet up with a cool friend. Sat by a cozy fire, sipping cider and eating bangers and mash and MUSHYPEAS! Since I’m not a Brit, I still like the mushy peas. And the bangers were delicious. A cozy, unpretentious pub. Looked like a lot of families with kids enjoying dinner. A bit threadbare and shabby in places, but friendly and fun nonetheless.

There isn’t anything exciting about this pub except for one thing: Sweet. Tea. Vodka. Class, this is what I’m talking about, a little taste of home. I’ve never seen it in any other pub and therefore feel that the entire WORLD needs to know about this place(or at least Unilocal London, lol).

the most horrendous food ever and that is a FACT!!! Have had food poisoning there. Cheap trashy and common full of dirty old men. only redemming factor is the ripe and fruity Benchmark wine at a greta price… avoid as much as possible!!!

I have found another Wetherspoons pub that I really like. This pub won an award as the best-looking pub in the area a while back and you can see why. Ok so the outside is ‘brewers tudor’, but it still looks nice. Inside it feels quite cosy, because there is nothing of the usual cavernous Wetherspoon’s interior, you could actually forget it was a spoons until you got some cheap food or drink! The pub dates back years too(although precisely how far is unclear) and has a theatre upstairs. And that’s not all. There is even a small beer garden out back. Which has a celebrity endorsement as Minty from Eastenders was enjoying a few drinks out there. Victoria Wood is a neighbour apparently. Not sure if that means she frequents the place though. Serves the usual good selection of ales, including some that I had not seen before.

OK, it’s great weather and you’re gasping for a decent pint and a fag. You’re also in Highgate, so your options are necessarily limited. I suggest for those on a budget who prefer the seclusion of a walled beer garden without the interruptions of people-watching then you could do worse than this place. It’s Wetherspoons, so you’ll know what to expect. Be prepared to discipline any nearby children because you can be sure the parents will not.
