Really great pub with friendly neighbourhood feel to it, but walkable from the City and South Bank. Food was very good value and quality. Funky décor and some comfy sofas and decent music.

Once again 100%. Great staff really friendly. Nice and chilled. Always pop in here for lunch and a coffee before a meeting. Had the koi noodles with chicken. So much in it.

Nice pub with a good food menu and interesting specials. Definitely recommend the Sunday roast. I went for the double meat, crispy pork belly and roast beef which was really nice. Big portions and not bad value for money. A nice selection of craft beers and a few main stream lines.

We just went back for another Sunday roast, and we’ll be back again. It’s not cheap, but the roasts are seriously seriously good, and it’s very un-packed on a Sunday.

This place is a bit gastro and after work on the wrong day it can be a bit packed in the wrong places(people who gather by the bar and door. Please move down inside the pub and use all available space! Mind the gap between the pain and the thirsty patron). If the weather is nice there are a few tables outside by a road that looks like it should be busier than it in fact is. I went for a pint of Tribute(partially because i couldn’t bypass the gathered throng and clearly see what my options were) which was in seriously good condition. A really nice pint, so I was glad in the end not to have noticed the Butcombe Mendip spring!

Great neighbourhood pub in Southwark, and downstairs was very popular. They do a good range of food and my pad thai was HUGE and delicious. Seems to be a strange, unused room upstairs when I had a nose! Our visit was slightly tainted by a really loud, drunken group, but the service was great and they knew their stuff. Would definitely go back.

I usually do not write reviews on Unilocal and have started now since moving to London. This place is near my new flat and frankly the food has been amazing. I have had some rough encounters with waitstaff here in London and they have been really great. This weekend I went with 14 friends(no joke) and ordered the burger. It was outstanding. I went to another place last night in SoHo that a friend recommended and got the burger because I was in the mood for bacon(I don’t usually even get burgers) and it was suppose to be a fancy restaurnat. It was gross. Rubbery as all hell. The Goldsmiths was really perfect. They also have amazing sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, for those of you into desserts. The only downside has been that it has been closed at weird hours and the kitchen closes kinda early. This could just be me being very use to late hours in NY.

This long-standing pub in Borough came under new ownership in mid-2010 and with the change came a full refurbishment. Out of the renovation came a great new gastropub, though the Goldsmith is not without its flaws. I love the cozy and warm aesthetic, complimented by the local crowd of Borough-ites. The pub definitely caters to the professionals who live in the new builds and lofts around the neighbourhood. You can usually find a seat and the candles and large windows create a great atmosphere on a cold or rainy evening in the winter. While the beer selection is not particularly large, there’s a decent variety of the usual brands plus a few nice imports as well. Beyond beer though, there can be some great cocktail and mixed drink specials on weekdays as well as a decent winelist at any time. The service is also above average and welcome. The bartenders are always friendly and welcoming and go beyond just the basics when serving meals and drinks. The food is pretty good and you’re sure to have something satisfying. On the menu are a decent variety of the usual gastropub type fare– dolled up fish and chips, good quality caesar salads with lots of anchovies, and several meat entrees. The good news is that the prices tend to be a bit lower than many other gastropubs around central London. The bad news though is that sometimes the product can be a bit of a miss. It almost feels like the chef is a bit inexperienced and sometimes doesn’t quite get things right, either with the preparation or ingredients. I had a pork belly dish once which sounded great on the menu and had a very generous portion, but the meat came out over done and tough and the flavour seemed overwhelmed by one particular herb/spice which I couldn’t quite identify. Another time I had a squid pasta dish which actually came with too much squid… I could barely taste anything else! All in all though, I still like the food, the prices, the service and the atmosphere. It’s a great local pub to have and a welcome choice to relax with a friend or few on any day.
