I feel that to make my reviews more interesting I really need to stop eating so many burgers. Headed to the Oyster Shed for a friend’s birthday and, lo and behold, I had a burger. That said, it was a really good burger, and the dessert wasn’t too shabby either. Service was fine — we were on the first floor which has the upside of being away from the city hordes but the downside of only the one waitress. I would head here again if in the area — having a reserved table is definitely useful and I might be less enamoured if I had to stand on the ground floor but overall this is an okay place.

I’ve been to this gastropub a few times and although it’s been a lot of fun, I feel they could do with some more servers. I went with a group of people for my bday as it was a beautiful day we wanted to enjoy the view as well. We ordered a couple of bottles of wine and some beers which were good. The food itself however was a mixed bag — a couple people ordered platters which were okay– I do have to say the oysters were delicious but hey it’s the oyster shed! The sea bass was so-so and fish and chips were mentioned to be tasty. A good place to get drinks and see the sunset with a view of the water but I would say skip the food if you can.

Good place for an after work drink. Prices are within London average. Best enjoyed in a sunny summers day. Closed on weekends!

Depends what you are looking for but below are listed the reason this place in my opinion it is below par. 1. Friday night, heaving full of a lot of city workers 2. If you book a table you have to spend at least 250 quid or lose a large deposit 3. Felt like a large whetherspoons… But pricier Why it managed 2 stars 1. The staff were really nice helpful polite and friendly 2. The view was pretty 3. I didn’t try the food… maybe its really good? This place is a city worker money suck. The demographic there was young 2030s suited up men and women in equal volume

If you are looking for a great place to eat and drink by the river this is one of your best options. The steak and chicken schnitzel are amazing and the atmosphere of the venue is really great. It can be quite busy downstairs on a Friday night so sure to ask for a table upstairs if at least one of your group want to order some food and have your drinks there until there’s a bit more space downstairs. When it’s warm you can also sit outside and enjoy the view of the Thames and the fresh air.

Good-looking gastropub perfect for a Friday team lunch, and extra good on a sunny afternoon when you can enjoy the riverside views. I’ve walked over nearby London Bridge after 5pm and spotted crowds of nearby office workers having drinks outside it as soon as the weather turns nice. We took the new intern out for a team lunch there last week. Food is decent with a standard menu line-up of british fare, and even the fussiest of eaters should find something to suit. Standard cityish prices to be expected at £13 for the fish+chips main, and it’s another place that believes in serving food on planks of wood or chopping boards or basically anything other than a plate. Suggest booking a table in advance at lunchtime(certainly on a Friday), and be warned the service can be slow — we seemed to get lost in a bermuda triangle somewhere between 3 different waitresses who all seemed to ignore us in turn. But plenty of people-watching and busy décor to look at while we waited given the mismatched furniture and bookshelves stuffed full of random props!

Nice location by the water. Had a few pints here. The crowd is mostly business people from the city. The staff is friendly but at times a little slow.

The Oyster Shed is in a fantastic location just up the river from London Bridge on the north bank of the Thames with a modern airy feel, fantastic views of the river and the Shard on the opposite bank. There isn’t much competition directly on the river so it can get incredibly busy on a sunny day afternoon leaving you with a long wait for drinks. I have only ever had drinks there, which are the usual London price of approaching £5 a pint but they also do food. I would recommend going there on a Saturday(it is closed Sundays) as the City of London is fairly empty meaning that in theory there should be plenty of room.

Oyster Shed is in an amazing location, beside the Thames with an amazing view of the Shard. Inside was mostly wooden but held a very modern quirky feel to it with the stripy coloured atmosphere. Although it was a big venue the little comfy seating made you cosy and comfortable to get into with the candles in the middle especially when I was greeted by such wonderful staff who led the way with a choice of seats to offer. Service was perfect. They all knew their dishes well when questioned. We ended up having a feast here, getting a fishermans’ board for a starter to share, their grilled salmon with smoked bacon and bean stew, Steak and Oyster Shed pie and of course their signature oysters. Service was quick too. My fishmonger’s board & oysters soon arrived beautifully presented. Oysters tasted amazing with the red vinegar given. They were fresh, juicy and plump. I would really recommend. Sadly we started the fishermen board on a poor note. The fried cod and fish fingers were had too much batter and the fish quite dry. The fish cakes may have been overcooked but was flavoursome. However the pickled cabbage with seabass that blew me away! Silky textures like sashimi but actually cooked, perfectly pickled making it very appetising and slightly bouncy meat. It was very tasty. The salmon was also very fresh and had a great texture of bounciness too. They were both a pleasure to enjoy. With it were also a pot of small prawns and bread accompanied with tartare sauce which were also fine. Next up were the salmon and pie. I’m afraid the salmon was again overcooked making it quite dry again. Luckily it was seasoned perfectly and I loved the smoky bacon on to add that extra crunch & texture to the dish. It also added in that kick of flavour. The beans were in a really good basic tomato sauce which was just what was needed to add moisture to the dish and rounded everything up quite well. Just needed flavour I suppose, So far everything seems to be a hit and miss and it was the same with the pie which was too salty and very bland. Probably my least favourite from all the dishes. It was also overdone so that puff pastry top lost it light and fluffiness and meat was gritty and very dry. However the pie was massive, probably two pies there so they were generous. The filing was also filled to the top with perfect ratio of sauce and meat. But not everything was bad with the pie. Inside was an oyster(although they said two) which they placed just before the pie finished baking. That was like finding diamond in a coal mine as it was deliciously moist, soaked up the beef stock making it very flavoursome. The side dish of buttered cabbage now if I dare say it, moreish. Steamed perfectly it held onto its moisture and buttered to give it that light buttery creaminess to it. It was vegetables made into a dessert! During our meal we were offered side plates for sharing and continuously excellent service. Our waiter was amazing but then again all of them were. Chips were perfectly fried, perfectly crisped and held onto its fluffiness inside served in a plant pot. Sauces were served in mini jars which just got itself another presentation star. Apple pie with custard and treacle tart with clotted cream were our choices for desserts. I’m afraid the apple pie was also another disappointment with the crust being floppy and apple quite bland. Worth £6.50 it wasn’t cheap either. However we still finished it was it didn’t taste bad, just tasteless. My treacle tart however was lovely. Served with clotted cream made it just perfect as it added that creaminess to it without ruining the soft warm smooth texture to it like ice-cream would have done and without taking its original flavour away like custard. Generously portioned too. Yes food was a hit and miss. If I was to ever go back it would be a place to relax after a hard days work with a few oysters drink a board to share with chips. A place place to enjoy the view of the riverside with a great atmosphere. I would also probably be naughty and go to borrow their awesome loos where there is a lift that takes you down.

i kinda agree with the other reviewer that gave 3 stars because its a loud and pretentious. yeah it kinda both those things but i think 4 stars are more fair. This is a beautiful, big and bright bar right on the river Thames. Further its in a quieter part of the river so doesn’t seem to get any tourists and that’s worth 1 star alone! i didn’t eat so cant rate the food but i’m sure i would frequent the place again. 4 stars for me

Food was good, location itself is very nice especially with a nice view over the river Thames and to the Shard. Staff was quick and friendly and prices were really in an acceptable range. I can recommend this place for a glass of whatever and a meal.

After a long walk from Oxford Circus I was in need of something comforting and filling, to obviously go against all those calories I’d just burnt! Luckily for my groaning stomach I had a booking at The Oyster Shed, overlooking the Shard, and River Thames. I’d often wandered past this bustling pub and wondered ‘why an earth are you busy ever night of the week?!’ Now I have answer. It’s pretty damn amazing. We, myself and TW, managed to get through the crowds to the restaurant where we were escorted upstairs to a quaint seating area, and given menus. I ogled with delight, yes there was plenty on there to cure the hunger I was tying to ignore! We were then pointed in the direction of the specials board, and there in front of my very eyes, was toad in the hole. I bet you’re wondering why such excitement! Earlier on the week I’d said to TW ‘Cor I do well fancy some toad in the hole’ and here my prayers were answered. To begin with we shared chicken and chorizo kebabs that were amazing. Kind of wished I’d got a portion to myself, but now I know for next time. The garlic mayo was perfection. For mains, I obviously had my toad in the hole, and it was too good for words. The presentation was so homely, and I wished my portion was double it size. TW devoured a cheese and bacon burger, as normal, but came to the conclusion that it was the best burger he had ever eaten, and I’ve taken him to some awesome burger joints. So I salute you Mr. Chef, you’ve out done yourself this time! We decided against deserts, which I think is a first for us, and headed off for the rest of our walk to Tower Hill.

I really like the space of the place, and of course its location, next to the River. The décor is nice and related to the near-by water. Ok it is only the Thames river, and the view of the Shard ain’t that bad after all. Tried the hamburger and chips, and was alright to me. Can be very noisy on a frdiay after work hours. hey, we are in london after all ! I l get back there.
