Used to think this place was cute and friendly. Unfortunately, it is no longer my neighborhood spot after the very poor experience I had on New Year’Eve event. I not only had tickets, which I paid for, but I also had confirmed via phone that I could arrive at any time. Well, wrong. I showed up and some dude at the door said«we are closed» and shut the door. I could clearly see a huge crowd inside, music going on and the bar opened. What a fiasco and a waste of money. The only appealing feature is Bella, the dog. I didn’t even get a nice«so sorry, but we are closing or cannot take any more guests». Very poorly handled. Fortunately, there’s a better option next door to this place.

This is a nice family-run pub tucked away in the neighbourhoods just off busy Ealing Broadway. My cousin remembers coming here as a kid with her dad in the 1980s and it’s still a great pub today. It’s small but had a pretty good beer selection of standards, London Pride, Hobgoblin and something different like Welcome Spring. On one side they have a pool table(one of the only pubs in Ealing with one!) and the other side has some nice tables, and they also have some nice outside seating. It’s definitely a local’s pub.

My 5-star rating dates from 1967⁄68 when we were nearly penniless hotel management trainees living in a rented flat in the neighbourhood(15A Park Hill). During the winter of 67/68, we frequented the pub very regularly, often to keep warm ‘cos we couldn’t afford to heat the flat! Beer of choice was WSB, but I can say that my tastes have improved since then. Shove ha’penny, table top skittles and doms were the pub games on offer in those days. No TV, fruit machine or juke box, as I remember. We used to try and save enough cash to treat ourselves to a gentle«hair of the dog» on a Sunday lunchtime, but frequently ended up in a worse state than when we went in. The group of us who shared the flat are still good buddies who meet periodically(in a pub somewhere usually) when we often recall those happy times in the Ealing flat and Haven Arms. TRG

A real find. An unpretentious pub with pool table & sport on TV, but also with an excellent restaurant. Sunday roast is particularly good. The staff are very welcoming, and it seems genuine.

Family run pub slightly off the beaten track and away from the hustle and bustle of Ealing Broadway. Now under new management but continues to be a friendly pub with a good atmosphere. Good for sports fans with a big screen and 2 small screens, pool table and dart board. It also benefits from a nice patio garden area and a good food menu.

Nice pub. It’s got a good location down a lane off the corner of Haven Green. Still quite authentic inside, with lots of etched glass, mirrors, and knick-knacks on the walls. Fullers pub, as most are around Ealing. Very neighbourhood-y.

Dart board? Check! Pool table? Check! Pub Quiz? Check! Food? Check! Friendly staff seving a range of drinks? Check! Not sure what else you could want from a proper ‘local’ really? And very different from the Wheatsheaf only 2 doors down. This isn’t a Gastropub. It doesn’t try to be a trendy bar. It’s a pub. People come here to drink and have a giggle with mates. You know what you’re getting. That’s not to say you can’t have a decent meal and a glass of wine of course but don’t expect anything too unusual on the menu. A recent change in ownership has seen a few changes. For the better I think. It seems a bit cleaner, and the food appears to have improved somewhat. The pub quiz has changed dates from a Thursday to a Tuesday(although I’m told the somewhat mental quizmaster no longer presides). There’s a fairly predictable choice of drinks available but the real ale has at least been well looked after on the occasions i’ve frequented even if the range on offer could be greater. There’s a slightly raised dining area at the back and a lovely patio out to the side for warmer days/smokers.
