Pretty cosy, upmarket boozer right near nottinghill station. A nice place to watch civilised sport or stay warm and enjoy some pretty fair priced booze. They could do with one or two more crafty beers but on a whole the alcohol line up is pretty good. Oh, and they can make cocktails. Espresso martinis here are particularly good. You can also get an OK champers here for £35. Food wise, the bar sharing options are great. There are some seriously good nachos, salt and pepper squid, chips with the best aioli ever. And attention all meat eaters: there are ribs. Yum. Wow. Lots of big tables that can cater for ten or so people and a smaller dining room for your smaller groups.

Un pub muy agradable cerca de Notting Hill Gate. Terraza con solera con vistas a las casítas de colores típicas del barrio. Me sorprendió gratamente encontrar pimientos de Padrón en el menú. Comí jamón serrano con higos y pan.

If you feel like drinking all day in lieu of eating and then eating late at night because you decided that you probably shouldn’t move up to illicit drugs and/or partying, this is the place for you! Fun people watching — Highly recommend the sausage roll and scotch egg along with a closing drink. 4.5 stars.

We spent £50 on food and drink here for 3 people — it’s not cheap. We ordered chips for the table to share which did not come out with the other food. When I mentioned this, the guy at the bar sighed and said he had forgot to put it through and asked me for £3.50. I asked how long the chips would be and he said 6 or 7 minutes. He forgot, and I can’t believe he asked me to pay. For the sake of 20p of frozen potatoes, he lost 3 customers. Also, the food wasn’t as good as the barman’s arrogance suggested.

The hillgate was quite roomy for a pub. Nice place in a nice area to have a quick pint.

As far as pubs go there aren’t a lot of things this place could do better in order to receive a 5 stars, bar perhaps being in an old listed space or have a mega selection of beer. I’ve not eaten at the Hillgate, but the food does look ok – I don’t think its necessary to have tried the food to review a pub seeing that drinking is far more important than dining. Very cozy with an open fire(albeit tiny and perpetually dying) and good beer/drink options. I always tend to get a seat here, even when the Windsor Castle down the road is heaving(i.e., always). It’s more relaxed than some of the other pubs in NH, but I’m a married man so thats what im about.

Several years must have passed since I last visited the Hillgate. Memories of a dark and slightly dingy old men’s pub have been replaced by a careful makeover. The bar was heaving on a Thursday night, and we were lucky to be able to grab a corner of one of the big pine tables. A section of the bar is reserved for diners without the Hillgate having to much of a gastro pub feel about it. The fish pie was delicious, washed down with a lovely bottle of rose. Unfortunately, I didn’t check the selection of beers available, so this is only half a review. Must return soon

Definitely on the posher side of pubiness now, this is tucked away in Hillgate Place, just 2 minutes walk from the tube station at Notting Hill Gate. I was here briefly once before and managed to spill my half a pint all over the table, floor and myself. My second visit was infinitly more successful. After a Sunday lunch, I went with two friends for another bottle of lovely red. They have a great wine list, a horse-shoe shaped central bar and many intimate tables. Decked out for Christmas, the pub has a 7-foot tree with gold decorations as well as small potted plants on each table. Very cozy, at 4pm-ish when it got dark outside, the lights were dimmed and tall candlesticks were delivered to every table to create great atmosphere. Toilets are downstairs and pretty cramped, but understandable in an old pub. Please let me get snowed in here if the weather turns bad again…

Contrary to reviews below there is no evidence of sports screens today. The staff are friendly and there’s always seats for after work drinks. The place gets busier for dinner around 7. They have some great real ales a good wine list and the bar snacks menu– whitebait and homemade sausage rolls– was quality. A real oasis in notting hill and actually a far better bet than the quirkier nearby windsor castle if you actually need elbow room to relax!

Lovely corner pub handily located a suitable hop away from the swarm of Portobello Road. The poor French chap behind the bar was a bit useless but once he was shown how to pull a pint, he did well, and it was a very well kept Wandle. There are tables outside, and had the day I visited been more like May than November it would have been a very pleasant spot to spend an hour or too.

This pub is a nice friendly local with nice friendly staff and not too hectic a place to watch the rugby on the weekend. It is a great getaway from the drama of Nottinghill. Good for local beers, friendly chats, cosiness.

This a nice little pub tucked away behind the coronet cinema. Although pretty small, the tables outside are a nice addition in summer and provide more room. There are two big tv monitors that show all the big football games which is something that most other pubs in the area fail to offer. The cliental on a weekend tend to be 20 – 30 yearolds mixed with a bunch of teenagers(who can take up quite alot of space) The drinks are fairly standardly priced and the interior has nothing to boast about. Pretty much your standard pub which is perfect for a chill-out on a week night. Though be warned, if you want a good seat for a big game go early(especially if Chelsea are playing!)

Just behind the constant movement of Notting Hill Gate sits a little pub which can actually honestly still call itself a Locals pub. It houses Sky Sports TV, a crowd mixing new money rich with the old guard without animosity and prices you aren’t going to get in other bars in the locale. It’s also a really good summer pub due to the tables outside and the number of windows allowing the light to flood in. Don’t be surprised to see kids in there who may(or may not) be underage — Holland Park School is just round the corner and as alumni I know where most 16 and 17 year-olds where spending their lunchbreaks.
