Wired but nice place, I like the different rooms with different styles. A big negative point is the toilet, very dirty. The coffee wasn’t like my expectation

Went for a cappuccino and a beer with a friend and it came up to £8.80. Wowsers. Didn’t bother to find out what was expensive I was so shocked. It a good coffee but that beer(Erdinger) must have gold in it. Wasn’t even served in the proper Glass either. It’s a nice space perched on a good corner but apart from the coffee I wouldn’t bother with anything else booze wise if it’s like this.

Unlike Ms Sanj«tag-along» M below, I was meant to be at the OSS that evening my friend from NYC came over and suggested the venue for his reunion/homecoming drinks! I do understand that it was a little out there seeing as I think it’s normally a coffee place but actually since most of the people in our group hadnt seen each other for, in some cases, over ten years, I was quite appreciative of the quiet. I decided not to go for the whisky drinks here but instead stuck to beer only. Eight pints later when we got chucked out(as it was closing, not because we were behaving raucously mind you), I was quite happy with our evening. OSS doesnt have a huge selection of beer which is fine but they do have mainly ones that I had not heard of before. I quite enjoyed ‘Milk’ which isnt white so I a little unsure why it’s called that but, hey. If I was in the area and fancied a quiet pint, I’d definitely come back for some more of the(non)white stuff :)

Erm… a slightly strange experience here. A visiting mate from NYC suggested it, I think because his airbnb was close by(not sure why we got him to choose the location rather than the rest of us locals but hey!). It’s an all-day venue that has more of a coffee shop type feel, though in the evenings they light up the bar at the back and set out cocktail menus on the tables. We were quite a big group that kept expanding, that kind of meet-up where each arrival brought a couple of random friends along to join the group. Actually I can’t talk — I was one of the tag-alongs too! It meant we practically took over the place and ended up rearranging the table layout(and candles and flower vases) so we could all sit and chat together, which they kindly let us do without comment. I think only one other person wandered in on a Tuesday eve so we weren’t exactly competing for space. I really liked the arty setting and historic twist to the place, which gets it to three stars — does it get any more east london than a decommissioned train station with eclectic photo/fashion exhibitions rotating through the back?! The disappointing part was the drinks though. They pride themselves on their whisky selection as evidenced by the bar shelves, but I was disappointed with both of the whisky cocktails I tried. They tasted quite watered down and all the more disappointing at £8.50 a pop. Confusingly a mate later ordered the same cocktail as I’d ordered first, but it arrived in a different shaped glass and tasted very different to way mine had. Either the barman had misunderstood one of our orders or he makes very inconsistent cocktails. Even ordering two G&Ts about an hour apart saw two very different drinks appear; I hadn’t specified the gin either time but one was certainly Hendrick’s served with cucumber, while the other quite different with an orange slice. It was a shame as the barman had seemed a real sweetheart and good for a chat — though maybe that had distracted him?! It closed at 10pm — much to the disbelief of the guy from NYC, but somewhat to my relief. I’m not sure what was going on with the drinks really(I should’ve ordered the whisky straight up!) but I think this place might be better suited to a daytime visit.

I have been wanting to go there for some time, and I am glad I finally did. This is exactly all I love about London. And more specifically, Shoreditch: a «faux-négligé», edgy and quirky décor. I did book a 3h slot for a weekly meeting with 4 friends of mine, and they reserved the back sofas for us. We had a mixed plate and a couple of drinks, all for a ridiculously low bill. Decent wifi, we could work quite smoothly whilst enjoying the vibe of the place. Huge downside though: the gents! They really need some thorough cleaning and work there, the smell is turn-off. When you’re having good charcuterie and just need a quick break before your next pint, it could really kill your plan… Good coffee, wide range of whisky, fresh beer and cider on tap. All quite cheap. I definitely will go there again!

Straight up: I’m only talking about their day time incarnation. I’ve yet to do the whole booze in a coffee shop thing there. For the last 5 years(more maybe?) the Station has been a go-to for that coffee fix, that moment when your wifi goes down and you have a deadline(oh that was a good one), need sugar, whatever. Hot staff, great coffee(the Matcha latte is my current bevy), good snacks, free wifi. Ticks all the boxes.

This place was my our go-to spot while staying at an Air-Bnb across the street. Unpretentious, laid back and a great people-watching corner(Shoreditch High Street X Old Street). It was never too busy or rowdy as the majority of its neighbors-a bit of a safe enclave for an ‘over 30′ staying in the hippest part of London. The first night we arrived we split a bottle of Malbec and a cheese board. SO good! Everyday thereafter we stopped in for an espresso(flat white) and chai. Both fantastic. Each time the staff were friendly. I’m sure I’ll be stopping by in a bit for another flat white before heading to Spitalfields Market!

Always a chill spot to meet friends. Nice during the weekdays to work in the sun in the big front room. Cocktails could be diversified though.

Charming little coffee spot right in the middle of Shoreditch. Perfect for a caffeine hit when you need to escape the local 243 and 55 bus rush! Admittedly I jumped in here mid-morning on a Tuesday so I can’t judge how busy it actually gets, but I imagine weekday morning this place get rammed. Saying this, I could see why. They’ve got a great coffee selection and actually really decent size cups. A lot of these quirky new caffeine establishments are squeezing coffee into ever shrinking cups, but nice to see this is a decent sized brew. The bar is also covered with more than appetising freshly baked cakes and pastries, which is sure to set any sweet tooth running toward old street. Also, this place is certainly aimed for the creative. The lounge area features some really unique furniture, old(comfy) sofas BUT the best thing… a 3D printing shop next door. Where else can you have an extensive roast bean collection and get something whipped up on the 3D printer at the same time. Adjoining doors inside too. Soon to be a Shoreditch establishment, go check this place out.

Stopped by for a latte and an afternoon work session yesterday. Old Shoreditch Station is located midway between Hoxton and Shoreditch High Street overground stations, and right across the street from St. Leonard’s Church, so it’s pretty hard to miss. Inside you’ll find a really creative interior complete with a chandelier made of plants hanging upside down. There are lovely flower on all the tables and all the furniture is worn. .. in a good way. The atmosphere is nice in here. There’s music(though it’s a bit too loud for working) and fairly good free wifi. A friendly staff man the bar and churn out beautiful coffees to a steady flow of patrons. I’m a bit new to the whole London coffee scene thing, but it’s nice to know of places other than the typical chain cafes. My only real complaint about Old Shoreditch is that their bathrooms were, well, kind of gross. Other than that, I had a lovely time.

I had a bunch of meetings in Shoreditch and didn’t know where to go. My first one suggested here, the Old Shoreditch Station, a spot I must have walked by a hundred times but never went in. And now, I’m sad I never have before. This is exactly what you want a coffee shop to be. It’s big enough for lots of people to sit but not so big that it’s overwhelming. The wifi is decent(it drops off every once and a while, but not so much that it’s awful). The coffee is great and well priced. And the staff is quick and helpful and will even bring your drinks to your table. Also, the tables are mismatched and quirky, like made from former windows or doors, and there are comfortable sofas in the second room. The only thing that really was off about this place was the bathrooms, which were club like, dark and depressing and smelled horrible. The rest of the shop is so quirky and great, guys, why are your bathrooms so bad? Beyond that complaint though, I’d be back in a heartbeat. In fact, I can see many more meetings to come right here.

The Old Shoreditch Station is part of the Jaguar Shoe Collective, some type of art collective dominating this stretch of Shoreditch High Street. Its situated in a beautiful old building on a busy junction. The interior reminds me of a mid-80’s students hang-out in Germany(or anywhere, but I was hanging out in Germany at the time) which is actually a good thing. It probably gets super busy in the evenings, but it’s a nice place to grab a sandwich for lunch — big wedges of artisan bread with Manchego cheese and home made plum chutney, wrapped in greaseproof paper made me feel rather nostalgic and went well with the retro backdrop.

i would prefer coming here during the day time than at night. it’s chill with nice coffee, a good place to sit your computer at and just people watch while you bring up your microsoft word to start typing. it’s chill with a nice concept store next door. by night, this place isn’t as upbeat as it seems. meh! come by the day!

I love Old Shoreditch. Free wifi, good AllPress coffee, and it’s socially acceptable to drink at all hours. At first I was intimidated by all the hipsters holding court but the people that work there are cool, and there’s a steady crowd of regular freelancers/students/Shoreditch locals. And occasionally tourists asking where Hackney Road is. The people watching on Kingsland Road is also top notch.

Indéniablement le plus joli cappucino qu’il m’ait été donné de goûter dans ce bas monde ! Joli, allez-vous me dire?

This has been my go to place to get a good cup of coffee, an adult beverage, light meal(the goat cheese and eggplant toasted sandwich, yum) and get online in the Shoreditch area. Unpretentious, simple, great atmosphere and reasonably priced. There is a nice playlist usually and it’s never is to loud to have a conversation with your imaginary friend about how they’ve really changed and maybe they should stop following you around all the damn time and making a scene… Anyway, go support these folks. They’re doing a bang up job in this cold expensive heart of a London.

2 stars 3 stars 2 stars 3 stars I’m torn. This cute little urban hangout should really be rocking 4 solid stars of appreciation with it’s free wifi and hipster crowd but really it’s bad coffee and«I’d rather shit my pants than use that» loo it just falls short. It is saved by being a pretty chilled bar in the evenings and by having super cute staff but really that’s not going to make me want to come back here. Not often anyways. I’ve been here a few times, both day and night over the past 2 years and each time I go I ask myself why. Is it really so cool that I want to be back here drink poor expensive coffee? Nope, but it has this chilled vibe that makes it an alright place to hang out, even with it’s lack of plug sockets. It’s right on the corner so if you’re on your own you can people watch to your hearts content, I just wish that it didn’t get so many of the idiots that think it’s alright to talk crap loudly, ruining your afternoon.

This is what Shoreditch is all about. The Old Shoreditch Station is a small but perfectly formed little café which manages to be at once quirky and chic, relaxed and cool. Remarkably cosy and cocoon like considering its location on the intersection of Old Street and hysteria, The Old Shoreditch Station has been around for just about forever although it’s survived many an arbitrary name change. Pop in during the day like the rest of Shoreditch’s freelancers to take advantage of the WiFi, grab a takeaway coffee on the way past — generally pretty good — or visit at night for a glass of wine and a slightly more upbeat atmosphere. Actually, scrap that, it’s the holiday season. Pop in with your laptop, have a glass of wine and do your work a little squiffy. In my opinion it makes you more lucid and the atmosphere at The Old Shoreditch is nothing if not inducing of creativity.

The Old Shoreditch Station is a great bar. It’s cool without being too try hard, though some of the art displays can be a bit questionable. On my last visit I was sitting underneath a box containing a hanged mannequin. I felt this touch slightly undermined the relaxing atmosphere they usually try to promote. The room behind the bar is littered with sofa’s and stools and is a really great place to go if you’re meeting up with a group of friends. Though it does get very busy at weekends it’s not the kind of place you’ll find people pushing and shoving to get to the bar. During the day you may feel a little out of place if you’re not glued to a laptop but this is true of anywhere in the Hoxton/Shoreditch area. However at night time even the most trendy of Mac addicts will close their laptops to sing along to the tunes playing on the juke box. The selection is great and covers everything from the most contemporary dance tunes to 1970’s classic rock anthems. Definitely recommended!
