The Pompidou Cafe

AVOID THIS CAFE!
We went here yesterday as we originally intended to go to the Haagen Dazs Café as we found it closed for refurbishment. Rendez-​vous was too busy, no where to sit so we found this place. Nobody was in the café as we approached and the waitress came outside to greet us and (persuaded) us to come in. And so we did. When we were handed our menu we were stunned at the prices £6.95 for a crêpe!
My mother ordered a Baileys Coffee and she couldn’t taste any alcohol, just strong black coffee. So me and my father tried some and we thought the same and so we told the waitress. Later on she came and told us the lady in the bar put Tia Maria in the coffee, not Baileys and she can’t do Bailey’s coffee because they didn’t have any left. We were left shocked by this, How thick can the waitress be? The bill clearly stated that we ordered a Bailey’s Coffee, NOT a Tia Maria. If my mother didn’t complain they could of just got away with it.
They ran out of a lot of things: Baileys, ice-​cream and fillings.
I ordered a chocolate waffle. As it clearly states in the menu it is served with warmed nutella and whipped cream. When I got it, it looked very nice but it was not served with nutella on top, instead it tasted like cheapo chocolate spread bought from Costco.
My father went to the toilets and he said that there isn’t even a lock on the door and it is in poor condition.
When we got the bill it was £31.58, we were shocked! We could have a starter and a main course at a restaurant for that much!
They wouldn’t allow us to use credit cards and so we had to pay in cash. They even got away with short changing us! Only by 10p but my father couldn’t be bothered to complain about it.
Do not go to this café! Even Haggen Dazs café is cheaper and far more luxurious! This place can practicaly get away with murder, I repeat AVOID.

This place, to put it mildly, is a rip-​off. We sat down here for an after-​dinner coffee and were stunned when the bill arrived. For two mochas and service, the bill came up to just over £9.
Yes, the prices are posted on the menus which are pinned up outside, but we weren’t offered the menu when we went in. Instead, the waitress rattled off the list of hot drinks they offered, and we just figured that the prices ought to be in line with the other cafes in the area, touristy area or no.
So, after that unpleasant surprise, we decided to check out the prices of other restaurants just around Pompidou Café, and found that they charged between £2.50 and £3 for a cappuccino/​mocha/​etc. instead of the £3.50 to £4 that this place charged.
The service was friendly — from at least one of the waitresses anyway — with another waitress being rather surly after she walked into me and spilled the hot chocolate she was carrying (though, fortunately, not on me). I apologised to her twice but still got unfriendly looks and had to refrain from pointing out that a) she was behind me, b) she walked into me and c) it’s her job to look where she’s going particularly seeing as I don’t have eyes at the back of my head.
Yes, Leicester Square is a tourist trap, but none of the places around the square are as bad as this one.

Really terrible food in what would otherwise be a nicer than average caff. I ordered, admittedly off-​menu, a mozzarella and peppers panino on brown bread, and was served mouldy toast with a tiny slice of unidentifiable cheese and a sprinkling of chopped raw pepper. Even the tea tasted vaguely metallic. I do understand that the poor waitress didn’t have enough English to understand my order (although I did give her lots of synonyms), but she was too intimidated to ask a colleague or the kitchen for help and food served to me was really appalling by any standards whatsoever. Avoid, avoid, avoid (despite the nice chairs).

En un mot comme en 100: a eviter a tout prix.
je suis rentree la dedans avec un copain, un expresso froid et minuscule et un latte plus que nul plus tard, et surtout alleges de £6.30 avec le service, nous repartions vite fait sous les cris de la serveuse qui se prenait la tete avec son copain.
A né reiterer sous aucun pretexte et meme pas sous la torture.
