The staff are very warm and helpful. Went in the restaurant with no idea on what to order, the hostess helped us out decide our order. The food was very delicious. Especially the Halloumi Souvlaki Wrap, its a must have! For a change from the regular Greek salad do try Beetroot, Feta & Lentil Salad.

Pretty adequate meal if I’m honest. Jumped in here for a quick lunch as they’ve got pretty good lunch deals. Went for the stack, basically three options of dips, meat dishes and then chips, potato or a delightfully rich chick pea and olive mix. Although the staff were more than friendly and a comfortable place to be the food wasn’t the best quality and you can certainly source fresher stuff from the countless markets outside the door. The humous had obviously been standing for a while as it had developed a tough skin on top and the cut up cucumber, carrot and celery were dry and tasteless. Filling the meat tier, I threw in the lamb but instantly regretted my choice. Basically it’s a over cooked burger pâté, always stick to chicken. Overall this place has no real character, a «get you in, fed, and out again asap» type of plan. If you’re starving around the market it serves it’s purpose but for a nice meal I’d keep walking.

Had lunch here yesterday. We opted for the set Greek trio menu, good value and filled us up! Delicious food and the waitress was really helpful. We sat outside overlooking the market, great atmosphere! There were nice babychanging facilities. We had the chocolate mousse cake for dessert –glorious! Would recommend, speedy service too!

I like to go to The Real Greek when I’m in the mood for pork belly. Nicely cooked and works with the greek salad. I also tried the grilled cheese and the flat bread, all awesome.

Lovely food, friendly staff, nice music, what more do you need for a nice meal. A wide variety of drinks and believe it or not tasty vegetarian options too. We had olives for starters and then had four hot mezzes. Tiropitakia, Grilled Halloumi, Grilled Aubergine with Garlic Tomato sauce and Falafel with Tzatziki dip. The first one was the best.

Food was acceptable. Cheap cheap, decent lunch for 10 pounds. I heard Greece isn’t known for being expensive. Even though it was cold and rainy outside, it was uncomfortably hot inside. Maybe that’s part of the Greek atmosphere. Also, it’s very noisy, perhaps also part of the Greek atmosphere. Note: I know nothing about modern Greece.

The Real Greek is a real let down. Ok, that might have been too harsh, but it felt just… blah. Blah food, blah atmosphere, blah service, nothing special, nothing terrible, just blah. We got the Souvlaki for Two, which had items like lamb, chicken, hummus, tabolueh, wine leaves and chips.(There were other options like potatoes or halloumi that you could substitute in). Again, nothing blew me away. It was well cooked but lacked the spice or kick that I love with Greek Food. It was fast for sure though and when we were trying to make an event, I did appreciate the service. It’s also giant with lots of room to sit in. Still, in Spitalfields Market, there’s a better street food stand right around the corner.

What a nice surprise! I have never been impressed by the Real Greek on the Southbank… I remember very slow service, small portions but alright food. However Marc fancied some greek food, and I thought this would be okay for a light meal. It was much better than I expected. * The service was speedy and friendly * The food was just lovely(miles better than the Southbank branch!) Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. * Souvlaki was tasty and filling, the Htipiti was perfect and went well with the hot flatbread. The tripitakia was the best part… it was like spanakopita but with leek as well as feta and spinach… aromatic and gorgeous. I’m sure we had one more thing… but I can’t remember what it was! I really should get hold of a taste card so we can come back with a 50% discount!

Greek or not Greek ! My Girlfriend and I went to this restaurant for lunch a month ago after strolling in Spitafield Market. I am not a fan of chains at all but I went for it. The food overall was pretty good. The Babaganoush was excellent served with some fried flat fresh bread(No idea how Greek that was) but was very tasty. The Salt Cod, Grilled Octopus, Grilled Kalamari and Loukaniko Country Sausage yummy. The salt cod melted in my mouth and the Kalamari were very BBQ. Although full of flavour the octopus was a bit Chevy and the Loukaniko was very gamy and it tasted more like mutton then pork but improved with the relish. The price was decent. Probably I will go back!

My friends and I ended up here after walking out of a different restaurant due to poor service. This place was lovely, nice table, attentive and friendly staff and delicious food. We ordered a selection of hot and cold meze and platters and it was delicious. Worked out cheaper than the place we originally booked as well. Will go again.

My experience of real Greek cuisine isn’t so great that I could comment on whether or not this really was deserving of the name«The Real Greek». However, the food we had was kind of just okay, if small in portion; though the house wine did taste particularly cheap. We took advantage of a special offer to choose various(tapas like) dishes plus a glass of wine for £15 instead of the usual £25(to be shared between two). The waiter was quick to serve us, friendly and attentive. He made us feel welcome without overdoing it. Our early evening(on a Tuesday) meal consisted of a decent amount of warmed Greek flatbread(which we needed to make sure we were not leaving hungry at the end); a dribble of taramasalata; a large mouthful of white beans in a sauce that tasted a bit like pizza topping(cold); enough cos salad to feed a baby rabbit for two minutes; one lamb kefte; seven new potatoes; some couscous salad. All served on 7″ sized plates. Basically, it did the job. It wasn’t mind blowing, it wasn’t terrible. I wouldn’t have been pleased to pay the full price of £25 for it though. At 7pm on a Tuesday evening the place wasn’t crowded but had a respectable number of diners. The ambience and surroundings were modern and quite pleasant. The lighting was at exactly the right level. The background music was unobtrusive to a degree that my partner didn’t even notice it. Of the décor, the only thing that made me think of Greece were the stoneware type plates and jugs. So, overall, the food is mediocre and a little pricey for the small amount you get.

Quite a nouveau Greek place! We are in London visiting friends and family and my friend Nick arranged a nice«meet up» at «The Real Greek» in Spitalfields Market, London. Getting there was easy — hop off the Central Line at Liverpool Station — walk a block down Bishopgate and you are there at Spitalfields. The Real Greek is just a small walk inside the market. I am told there is good parking around there, but we had already parked around Oxford Circus as we were doing a bit of a walk around earlier. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, chrome and mirrors, which made me think of «nouveau» Greek — meh — w/e. :-) We had some G&T and a Chilean Sauvingon Blanc which was dry, yet very smooth. Price was excellent! There was a good selection of food for us and the starters are reasonably priced, and quite good. Portions were not North American(hehe), but all very good. The humus and taramasalata was excellent as was the Greek flat bread and the sardines were great! We had several other items as well, which were all good! My wife had the gambas(prawn) and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the lamb soulvaki and thoroughly enjoyed it! There are some group specials(like a meal for 2 for 20GBP with drinks) which we did not try. There were some«prix fixe» specials as well. Since we were doing a lot of catch up — we focused on appetisers and light main meals. As my iPhone was running low I asked if there was a spot to charge it. The staff were very helpful, and they allowed me to bring my cumbersome UK — US power converter, flux capacitor, satellite locator, charger in and I fully charged it! :-) We finished off with some mint tea, coffee and baklava — all excellent. I would certainly come here again!

I’ve been meaning to try this place for ages, and finally decided too with the tempation of 50% off vouchers from their website! We ended up ordering a platter to share between two, as well as a hummus and a vine-leave wrapped rice thing. Most of the food that arrived was delicious, except for the chicken skewers which were really overburnt, and this funny green aubergine thing that looked like guacamole. Service was polite, but he was slow at checking on us and we had to wait like 15 minutes at the end and signal to him before he came to collect our money and give us our change. Normally I don’t mind waiting as it gives more time to chat, but there were only 2 other tables occupied at that point, so one does expect service to be very quick and prompt in that situation. He had also forgotten our olives and two glasses of tap water at the beginning. I am sure the service issues are a one off and maybe only limited to this branch, but I also feel reluctant to give 4 stars for the food as it was nothing special, and without the half price vouchers they would have been an exorbitant amount to spend! Still, with the vouchers it came up to a very reasonable £13 a person with dessert(their home made sorbets are amazing) and a drink.

I was drawn in to the dark, comfy interior and funky lighting. It was a cold winter day, Spitalfield bustling with sunday market-traffic, and I wanted a warm place to settle my hunger. The menu included all the typical greek dishes– humus, tzatziki, dolmade, skewers, and lots of lamb and olives. We wanted it all, so we ordered the vegetarian sharer for 2. It included a tower of 6 dishes and a side greek salad. We enjoyed the food, although the service was a bit slow(both in time to serve the food and ability to remember our order). Unlike the name suggests, something about this place feels a tad artificial. Overall, it’s a great place to grab an after-work bite. But I doubt it will be anyone’s favorite.

Founded by celebrity chef Theodore Kyriakou some years ago, with the idea to bring to Londoners Greek street food, this restaurant has opened more restaurants, and this one in Old Spitalfields is one of them. If you go with a group I would recommend you order a bunch of plates and share. A great dish for this purpose would be the mini-skewers with dips, and maybe a Souvlaki Sharers, that way you get a good taste of all the yummy things that they serve. What I love about it is that everything taste so fresh, and it goes light on the stomach, so you can eat and not feel like a stuffed turkey after. They have a selection of Greek wines, which can be a an adventurous option for drink, but hey why not go the whole nine yards.
