we got the set menu, and it was perfect. the honeycomb was the best thing i have eaten in a very long time!

Simply one of the best restaurants in London. The Shed is a real hidden gem in Notting Hill, serving amazing seasonal food. Everything is sharing-tapas style, and you should count 2 – 3 per person. Gin cured trout, bone marrow and goats cheese with honey nuts are just few highlights. And their house red wine is absolute bargain. Lovely staff make your evening even more memorable. Absolutely recommended.

Always striving to live on the edge, I turned up here at prime dinner hour on a Saturday for a light meal and drinks with a friend(and no reservation). We were given the choice between counter seating and an outdoor table, and ended up sitting outside. Close quarters, but the outdoor seating is well kept and seemed to be equipped for a chill if need be. We ended up splitting two small plates, a cheese platter, and a carafe of wine. Costs definitely add up here, even if you’re intent on keeping it simple; the plates are smaller than the average tapa, and I’m not entirely convinced the price is justified. Everything we had was, however, delicious. The cheese platter was well curated and the guacamole creamy and flavorful, but the baked goat cheese with walnuts was one of the most delicious things I’ve had in a lifetime as a mammal in constant need of sustenance.

Pretty disappointing that they can’t update their profile to their actual hours. The place looked cool in their photos so we walked 40 minutes across Hyde park to go eat there at 5:15 and they were closed. We asked the bartender then if she could even recommend anywhere else to go and just received a curt ‘no’. There’s enough places in London that bad management and service isn’t worth returning.

This is a fantastic place, the menu is as quirky as the décor, yet carefully considered & very well executed. I had the pleasure of eating here on Saturday night. Despite it being busy, we received a warm welcome. Although our table wasn’t available for our booked time, we were made to feel very welcome & given seats at the bar area until our table was free. As a Vegan, I was a little unsure as to how many dishes I’d be able to order & whether I’d end up hungry at the end, but I must say each one of us left very well fed! The food is presented as small plates, which allowed us to share(for the most part) dishes. I was really pleased by the kitchen’s ability to mix up the menu & provide a few extra dishes for me. Our group was really well looked after and for around £40 a head we had a good few drinks, plates of food & a couple of desserts. In central London you’ll struggle to find such good quality & value for money in a trendy, yet accessible venue. The highlights were as follows: The Beetroot houmous(2 bowls disappeared quickly) Rainbow Beetroot Carpaccio(made vegan) Salsify, pear & walnut(personal favourite) Lamb Chips(devoured by my brother) Beef Cigars(also muched by my brother) Brussel Sprout tops(a bit like chard) We had the restaurant’s own German-style white wine, which is grown locally, it was very well suited to a range of flavours. Their Gin & Tonic also comes highly recommended. For a party of five on a Saturday night, we were very well looked after & I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something a bit different(but special) in central London. The Shed’s accessible, but fantastic food, is similar but(slightly) better than one of my local, Glaswegian favourites, I can’t praise it highly enough!

I was shocked to learned that I haven’t written a review for The Shed yet. It’s one of my favourite restaurants in London, which is really saying something. It has a very specific approach to their food and there are no other restaurants like it. It’s essentially a farm to table tapas bar and it’s brilliant. The food is creative and flavourful and if I could offer one criticism, a bit rich. I would recommend getting at least one dish/salad that is very acidic to help cut all of the richness. However, enough of the preamble. If you go, you MUST try the honeycomb chocolate shards in mascarpone. It’s is spectacular, there is no other word for it.

The Shed is a nice little set up in an attractive building in Notting Hill. We had friendly staff wait on us although they were a little pushy on the time we had to spend on the table I guess the down side of being busy, even mid week. The décor is cool but the seating arrangements are a little on the uncomfortable, tables a little too close and chairs /stools more designed for decorations rather than comfort. The food is good! It’s kind of a tapas idea which means you can make a decent selection however bwe had a group of 5 and each dish would probably only cover a Mac of three. Dishes are varying through the seasons and made up of in season ingredients. Everything we tried was very tasty, well cooked and expertly presented.

I’d never heard of this place before, but a friend suggested it for a Friday night dinner and it is such a great find. We didn’t have a reservation, but managed to show up at just the right time and got the last available table outside(they also take a limited number of reservations). It’s only just autumn so it wasn’t too cold out, but they have blankets available and a heat lamp that they turned on later in the night. The tables were packed very closely together, so that the tables on either side of us could definitely hear every bit of our conversation. Probably not a good place for a potentially awkward first date, but it would be perfect for a couple’s date night! There are fairy lights around the outdoor area, and I thought the whole place was fairly romantic. As for the food, the idea is British tapas and we were recommended to order 5 plates to share between 2 people. It wasn’t well advertised, but there is also a set menu for 25 pounds a person consisting of the most seasonal dishes. You get a pretty good selection of the various sections of the menu, and all of the mouthfuls, which I wouldn’t otherwise have ordered. All of the food was delicious and beautifully plated. The more interesting ones to note was the chorizo dish, which turned out to be ground chorizo served kinda like a chili, and the broad bean hummus, which i thought was very original and something I would never have even have dreamed of before. We ordered the house red wine, which was extremely well priced at 22 pounds a bottle. Then they ran out and we had a carafe of the cabernet sauvignon. All in, I thought everything was very good value and the quality is superb. I would definitely come again.

The Shed was a very interesting find, with some very good usage of fresh vegetables, not like your usual British restaurant. In some ways it reminds me of The Dairy on Clapham but with less experimental elements in its cooking. Judging the restaurant which was almost a full house in a cold January on a Tuesday evening, clearly The Shed is doing something right. Service was also very knowledgeable and very caring which was a real good plus, along with the fun and relaxing atmosphere, it is the kind of place I would visit often if I lived nearby.

I really liked this place. Great location, very popular with great people watching and a cool crowd. The staff is super friendly and helpful! The food is really good. Fresh as it gets with some really well thought out recipes that are definitely not your standard fair. I had things tonight that I’ve never had and they were delicious. That is a good review right there and I should stop, But… There were two hiccups that kept the star rating from going through the roof: A Malbec was ordered by my wife and it came 70+ degrees warm(21 Celsius) which made it flat and undrinkable. They politely exchanged it for a Pinot Noir, but, they are storing their reds high above the bar and with no climate control and their reds were not doing very well. Also, our seven course dinner(which was exceptional), five came out at a steady pace. Courses five and six had 20 – 25 minutes gaps in between their servings. Those gaps sort of broke the rhythm of what was an excellent meal. The Shed is a really good restaurant! With a little tidying up, it can be great.

My family and I’s favorite place we went during our week vacation in London. We did the menu which was for 25 pounds we got some starters, entrees, and desert to share. It was plenty of food and I highly recommend it. «Bites» or mini appetizers were fantastic. Cheese and chorizo courses were superb as well. Pork was dry and not anything special. Dessert was amazing honey comb cookies. It is a small place so reservations are almost required. We didn’t have one and got very lucky to get seated. Service was good and the ambiance was unique. Beware that outside people may be smoking. All in all, it was a great meal with many different flavors.

Really superb restaurant, with great atmosphere. Well placed in the heart of London — easy access from Nottingham Hill or Knightsbridge. The staff/owners and extremely helpful and will be more than happy to advise on what is essentially a tasting/sharing type of menu — if not sometimes a little pushy when making your order. The menu changes daily! Locally sourced produce really shines through and the food is excptional. Only real downside was that we had to wait until 9pm for a reservation then weren’t intact seated until 9:30 but other than this would highly recommend a visit!

Created by brothers Oliver and Richard Gladwin, The Shed is an extension of their rural lifestyle back in Nutbourne, West Sussex. The menu changes daily, with produce sourced from their youngest brother Gregory, based as a farmer back in Nutbourne, as well as other local suppliers. Their style of cooking focuses on nose-to-tail cooking so that nothing is wasted, which is essential to The Shed kitchen. The interior is charming and quirky, as we walked past the Tractor Bonnet Bar, through to the restaurant area. We ordered a couple of mouthfuls to nibble on whilst waiting for the main dishes to be served. The pork scratching was nice and crisp and went well with the sweet apple jam. The crab bombs had a nice, golden crunchy shell, and you could definitely taste the spiciness from the chilli. The menu, like many places, is based on small sharing plates, and was divided into ‘Slow’ and ‘Fast’ categories. We ordered one vegetable dish, which had an interesting combination of flavours and textures. The stout cured mackerel was one of my favourite dishes, the richness of the mackerel enhanced by the deep flavours of the stout, balanced with the sweetness from the pumpkin and cranberry jam. The braised pork hash looked interesting, topped with a brightly coloured, gooey egg yolk. I did however find the dish to be bland compared to the other dishes. The Nutbourne lamb was nice and tender, with a lovely shade of pink, served on a creamy bed of barley and malt. I am not usually a fan of hearts, as I do sometimes find them a bit too chewy, but I was interested to try out the recommended grilled beef heart. I have to admit that I quite enjoyed it, the texture was much more pleasant than I was expecting, and I liked the additional crunch from the artichoke crisps. We ordered all three desserts, of which I think my favourite was The Shed magnum vienetta. Friendly and welcoming service, and great food in a casual setting — I would definitely recommend a visit. Great find. Our intended destination was«kitchen closed» when we walked in, so we walked back to The Shed. I believe they were about to close the kitchen as well, but I guess we looked hungry enough, so they were kind enough to sit us. We actually ended up a the opposite end of a shared table, with another group of Americans, which made the meal very festive as we made some new acquaintances. the food was all delicious. farm to table British tapas. who would have thought?! the one thing I found off putting were the drink prices. The wine was very expensive, compared with other places we ate at during our time in London.

It is delicious. To quote one of my accompanying: this place is *ADORBSIES*. So, it is no secret that I am an urbanite with a serious farm-on for anything related to local food production, foraging, blah blah. The Shed(it is appropriately named; it is a small space that does miracles with mirrors) is basically my Mecca; it’s 3 brothers who must make their dear Mamma proud… one is Executive Chef, one is the sommelier, and the other manages the farm that sources a lot of the goodies that end up on your plate(Psssst: I *think* I got that familial run-down right). It’s a tiny spot with some outside seating(blankets available if you’re sitting outside), and a really homey feeling insight. The spot is cozy, has amazing staff all with flannel and checked and gingham-ed shirts, and I love that the tap water flows readily here. Double bonus: great soap/lotion in the(adorably farm-print-plastered walls) bathroom. Shell of a John Deere over the bar, which seems to get men especially excited. The recommendation is 2 – 3 dishes per person. We, as 3, went for 1 «bite» each and then split 7 dishes. None of us were stuffed after(the plates are perfect, but not large), and we opted for the following: — beet chip goat cheese crisp and hake rillettes with preserved lemon(as bites) — warm goat cheese with thyme and hazelnuts(ZOMGZ) — carrot hummus that made me exclaim: «this sounds crazy, but… are these just exceptionally carrot-y carrots?!?»(answer: yes, delicious things) — brussel sprout salad with hazelnuts, apple and cheddar — pork with salsify and root veg and general deliciousness — chorizo with labneh and crispy kale — smoked trout with little cubes of apple — autumn truffles and mushroomy mayhem(my title, not theirs); it was the ultimate comfort food. We all got different drinks, too: an elderflower-tinged sparkly tipple for one; some wine from Sussex for another. I went for Negronis x 2. RECOMMENDED. Yes, they are 12GBP a pop. Yes, yes, I know that… but also: I am ignoring that because it was possibly(nay, certainly!) the best Negroni of my life. 3 dessert options, though I didn’t tuck into any of them. Unilocal note: reservations basically *required*, especially if you’re a party of more than 2.

An excellent meal overall. The dishes are all thoughtfully constructed and quite tasty. There’s an emphasis here on local/regional ingredients, and the flavour and freshness really seems to come through in the food. Lots of good options, many different types of meat and veg. In terms of value, I think it’s decent and you get what you pay for, i.e. very high quality food prepared expertly. Some of the dishes are quite plentiful and rich, while others are a bit more dainty. The service is pretty friendly and on the ball. They offer a fairly large wine selection and lots of dynamic cocktails. There’s only one beer(it always amazes me when a restaurant puts so much thought into every other aspect of its business and then offers one mediocre beer). The décor overall, I gather, is meant to evoke a farm or some such thing. It works at times but at others comes across as a little forced. But in general the ambiance here was quite agreeable. A great spot. I would highly recommend it.

Lots of chat about this place. Lots of rumour and gossip. Can’t beat that I would imagine if you’re running a restaurant. «It’s run by two brothers. No, I heard it’s three.» «All the food is from their farm, except the fish and they own a sea somewhere.» «Kate Moss eats here, but just the mouthful starter bits.» «It’s tapas, but it’s English». «You need a mortgage if you don’t want to come out hungry«etc etc. And what fun this place turns out to be. Choc full of young Notting hillers whittering away, busy smiley staff dashing in between crowded tables, and small tasty dishes being bought to table as they are made. I ate a beef cigar and a veal twig and I liked it. Well the veal twig was a little disappointing in comparison to everything else to be honest — a breadstick with some powdered veal essence sprinkled on it — but it was still perfectly palatable. Just nowhere near as nice as the little ‘bites’ you could order before the main tapas style section. They were lovely those bites. £1.50 each(so £3 a couple — they don’t make that clear) wonderful mouthfuls. A mushroom marmite on toast. You either love it or you love it. Hake rillettes. Delightfully zesty with a lemon marmalade. Some pork scratchings with apple sauce. Nicely put together and loads of flavour all the ‘bites’. The tapas section is divided into slow cooked and fast cooked. And everything sounds like something you want to try. We ordered three dishes each. He recommended two but we are greedy. All of it was lovely. I didn’t really get the distinction between the slow and fast cooked stuff, but I very much liked whatever came out. Beef cigars wrapped in thin pastry and served with a good mayo. Beautifully done quail. Goats cheese with the most delightful hazelnuts baked in honey. A tagliatelle dish that made the grade. Everything that came out was really very good. Stuff you actually thought about for a couple of seconds before woolfing down. The place itself is properly cramped. It’s a small lean to — if you ever went to the old stalwart The Ark, it’s the same place. But they’ve made it ‘bigger’ with mirrors and kept the décor rustic. You sit on wooden stools with barrels as tables. Inexpensively done but with a good eye. And the story is that these brothers are a chef and a farmer who are committed to growing and cooking great local produce and doing interesting things with it. Certainly from the menu you can see there’s a passion there. And from the food that comes out too. Great to have a story. I’d give it 5 stars but being double picky the service is a little over-friendly and casual. Waiting for the men’s loo for 5 minutes only to find my waitress bound out isn’t spot on. Nor is trying to palm me off with bubbly they were well aware was luke warm. To be fair though we got a free glass each while we waited for it to chill, so no complaints. Was the jaunty guy who greeted us one of the mystical brothers I enquired? He wasn’t, but he was only too eager to chat about them, the place and the food. You can tell he’s excited to be there, and so he should. We went home full of food and flavour and chat. Nice one. nb the food reminded me very much of 64 Degrees down in Brighton which I have reviewed on Unilocal and is also well worth a visit. Inventive, fun, tasty tapas with an English slant. Maybe it’s going to be a new trend. Hope so.
