I might have been more forgiving with a nice pint of ale, but unfortunately on the Sunday night we dropped by they’d just had an accident with the casks and there were no ales on tap. We had a few starters and sides, all of which were okay but nothing special, and we felt the portion size was somewhat small considering the price. The place itself is nice enough, with a few tables outside and plenty of space inside, although one loud table is enough to drown out the entire pub.

A very nice little pub that fits all my American expectations of what an English neighborhood pub should look like. ;) We stopped in on a Saturday night around 11 pm and there was plenty of seating at the bar and tables. A pretty typical selection of beers and ciders on tap. There’s a vaguely nautical theme to the décor, I guess, but not so much that you’d notice it if you weren’t looking. Mostly it’s just a comfortable, nondescript place to stop in for an affordable drink with friends. Bonus: we sat at a table in the back that looked out on the street and got to see a city fox wandering down the street! Maybe he wanted a pint of cider too.
