I’ve wanted to try this pub for a while now. We’re local and got chatting to a guy in the Dog House pub who was a local at Black Prince and told us to go. We did and received a pretty cold reception. Granted we turned up at noon on August bank holiday Monday but don’t open if you’re not ready to serve customers. The place had about 3 regulars already perched up at the bar. Everyone looked and sounded a like the night before had been a big one. There was a server folding cutlery into napkins in one corner whine playing with a dog(is this hygienic). The bar tender barely acknowledged us or our order of drinks. We were planning to eat there but the lack of enthusiasm from the bar chick changed our minds. I think it’s one of those pubs that warms up towards the evening and welcomes regulars only.

This is a wonderful little pub. Fantastic well priced food and great atmosphere. The Sunday roast is to die for! It is a better pub for the winter months unless you are lucky enough to get a table in their little court yard in which case it is a wonderful little sun trap for a weekend pint. Oh and their burgers are super tasty and interesting too(often themed to sporting events:))

Love this little local bar hidden away off Kennington Road! It’s a very intimate setting, with wooden panel walls, candles on the tables and an actual fireplace! There are not enough of those in London pubs. All your usual drinks, served by really nice and helpful staff. The food menu looks great and smells fantastic. I have yet to try it but it has been recommended. I especially liked the look of the imaginative 6 Nations burgers for rugby fans. There’s a different variety for England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, depending on your team of choice. It’s the kind of pub you wish was permanently round the corner but worth making the trek for too. c*

Having heard they do a good Sunday lunch was very disappointed to find them charging almost £12 for bought in ready made yorkshire puddings, gravy made from granules and pork entirely without crackling. Avoid.

Our new local, revamped, relaunched and all the better for it. Good beers, good food, great music The Black Prince is a terrific pub to drop-in for a quick drink, a meal & to meet. much better than the also-recently revamped Tommyhouse h nearby

I went to the Black Prince last night for«Pie night». 2 pies for a tenner — all high quality, delicious homecooked food. Also enjoyed some of the best kept pints I’ve had in London. I would definitely recommend it and will be back soon.

I moved into the flats above this pub recently, so this is now my new local. Checked it out last week and loved the place that I went back twice in two days! What I loved: Firstly the owners — a lovely couple(English and South African) who are really welcoming and chatty. Secondly the décor — the couple bought the place in Oct 09 and have totally refurbished it from an old man’s pub into a warm and cosy setting. There’s even a fire place for the cold nights. And they are in the middle of building a garden for outdoors seating in the summer. Thirdly the food — great British hearty grub(pie, sausage and mash, fish and chips) all at reasonable value. And Tue and Wed are bargain evenings as its buy one get one free on certain dishes! Lastly the games — they have board games! From Trivial Pursuit to Connect 4. One suggestion — please can you get Guess Who?, everyone loves that game! Genuinely feels like a local with a grown up clientele.
