We wandered in here hungry and sober — they fixed both. The fish and chips were fabulous as was the cider. I had an Icelandic(I think) Koppenberg cider that was über sweet but delicious and refreshing.

I’m all up in hea when I’m in London for work. The cask ales are refresh, the steak & ale pie is deelish and the bartenders are legit funny and quick. Unlike typical London pubs, they do play pop music. Oh fuh fuks sake.

A very good pub with good food and great service. It’s owned by Taylor Walker, and they own about 18 pubs, but this does not seem to detract from the local character. The portion size for the Fish and chips is gigantic, really very generous. The Steak and Ale Pie is delicious and very meaty. They have a good beer selection and are willing to let you taste anything.

Petit bar très sympa… Les pulled pork nachos sont excellent, très bon apéritif avant d’attaquer le dîner! Décoration intérieure agréable, petite terrasse vite pleine quand les températures sont douces. Enjoy!

This is one of four pubs that I visited while in London. The Unilocal app told me there were two pubs very near my hotel. Turns out one was packed, so I ended up at The Swan — evidently a chain pub. When I approached the bar desk, I immediately noticed the great craft brew selection on tap! I ordered a pint of London Fields Hackney Hopster Pacific Pale Ale and a plate of fish & chips. I grabbed a table, watched some football, and sipped my hoppy frothy beverage. The fish & chips came reasonably quick, but I was somewhat confused — what was I supposed to do with the side of whole onions and slices of bread? Regardless, the savory dish was tasty. Of all the pubs I visited on this trip, The Swan had the best beer selection! I left a satisfied customer :)

I visited the Swan for drinks and food during my trip to London earlier in the year. It can be hard to find since it is located in somewhat of an alleyway side street, but it was situated a few blocks down from my hotel. As a first time visitor of London, I was eager to get a glimpse of the world famous pub scene, and I felt the Swan was a good place to go. It was filled with locals and had a small yet cozy atmosphere. I got a hot cider and Bangers and Mash, which was delicious and filling. I was seriously full from it the next morning. It was a great place to warm up and wind down after a chilly day spent running around London to take in the sights.

This is a pub that you can quite easily miss as its in a corner down an alleyway. This sounds odd, however its a very busy alleyway that tourists use from hotels into town. Its next door to two busy Italian restaurants that are waiting to pounce on tourists with set menu. Its actually worth avoiding them and visiting the Queens Larder, or this pub which is a cheaper alternative. The pub it looks really dark from the outside but its light inside and shows Sports on the TV. There are a tables and a long bar. The food to be honest its a bit hit and miss. On a good day, when I have eaten here, its great. Standard pub fare– the Codfather is a brilliant fish and chips massive portion, they also do a Vegetarian alternative. As a tip, if you are watching the pennies, sign up to their website before you go, its a Taylor Walker pub and you get a fiver off which is good as the food is a bit pricey for pub food. As I mentioned its been fine on my visits but some friends have had worse experiences. The drinks a good selection of real ales and lagers, as well as ciders and a nice wine list. Again check the website as there’s generally an offer for a fiver off a platter when you buy a bottle of wine. Staff seem to know their stuff when it comes to the drinks The atmosphere not really any locals and mainly, down to its location, a tourist trap. That being said its friendly, and air conditioned. Toilets are down some narrow stairs so I guess its not that disabled friendly. Its perfectly functional, pleasant and a nice place to down a pint again its a little pricey given the location but don’t let that put you off.

Come here for a mates birthday drinks. This is your typical british pub in near the Holborn tube station. Very nice atmosphere. Nice bar staff. The selection of beers was higher than the standard pub. Sometimes I get annoyed with the standard London pub beer selection of 3, but here here were a few more than that. Bonus! I didn’t eat here, but had some bar peanuts which were very good. I assume the food would be pretty standard pub grub.

I had my first London plate of fish & chips here! Not too shabby! I love that this pub is close to my campus and serves sweet white wine as an alternative to beer and cider. I will be back for many more nights, I’m sure!

Another local that is part of a chain but they do keep the charm so kudos. Stopped in on my final minutes in London before heading off to the airport for a Pimm’s classic cocktail and a chicken tikka masla(two classic English things right). The Pimm’s tasted really dangerous, something I can drink a whole pitcher or two of rather quickly and than realize the error of my ways. The food came out quickly enough but I wasn’t that great, maybe it is chain side of the pub coming out. The men’s bathroom didn’t smell that great, and it is downstairs.

Decent pub, albeit pricey(even considering the location) for a chain. Food runs from £9−12 per main dish. The pub itself is cosy but not cramped, and it’s pretty clean. The staff was friendly and helpful even though the pub filled up to watch the football game.(They have 2TV screens.) Outside are several benches for sitting on those few dry and warm London days.

As a pub it should mainly be judged for it’s atmosphere and drinks. And that’s alright better than others. I like it as a nice cosy drinking place, especially as they(then) served my favourite beer Theakston’s Old Peculier.

I’ve eaten here a few times when I’ve been in London. It’s in a nice location in an alley. The service is okay but the drinks and the food are quite good.

Pretty solid food — free internet is a plus. It’s part of the Punch Taverns franchise, but the fish and chips is pretty good. And, it’s fast, and close to SU-London, so my friends and I often came here to eat between our afternoon and night classes. The Swan was also great if I had to finish homework. There were plugs for laptops, which was useful because I think being abroad totally fried my laptop battery. I’d come here and finish it before class, while drinking a pint. Or a g&t. Gosh, I miss being legal.
