Was recommended this place by our tour guide and was glad we took his word. This place had tasty beer on draft and amazing fish and chips. Ah, yes, something to satisfy after a lot of walking and sight seeing. Typical British pub and I loved it. If I were a local, I would most likely be there often during happy hour with friends.

Where better than a British pub to have my crack at fish and chips? We stumbled upon this place while wandering through the city on our way to Trafalgar Square. We sat on the main floor when you entered in, close to the bar. Lots of items to choose from on the menu, and everything came out in large portions. Fish and chips was served exactly as expected — a large filet of fried cod and thick cut chips served with a side of peas. Service was great — the bartender was even nice enough to let us borrow his phone charger(we had been using Google Maps all day, making sure we weren’t getting lost!) as well as let my husband sample a couple of brews before ultimately deciding on his selection. Great spot to drop in for a quick bite and brew!

Close to everything. Not crowded. Good beer. No tourists. Except myself. For that, I give this quaint and adorable pub 5 stars.

Only had drinks, but my what drinks they were. Fabulous Long Island iced tea! Lovely charming place just tucked ever so slightly out of the way. Would like to go back to try the food, it sounded lovely.

Had a few pints of cider and some snacks after visiting the National Gallery. We all enjoyed the food. There was a nice Brazilian mixed plate. Even the French fries we got for our 8 year old were really tasty. Nice place.

I recently joined a language exchange group that meets here every 2 weeks. It’s a small pub, but the 2nd floor is spacious for private functions or meetings, such as ours. What I like about it is that it’s located near Trafalgar Square, but in a hidden alley so it doesn’t temp many tourists to come in. The food and drinks are decent in terms of being at the heart of London. Overall, it’s a wonderful find!

I FOUNDYOU!!! Finally. After 5 years. I finally found this pub. I studied abroad in London 5 years ago(gross, I’m old) and stumbled upon this bar after I saw Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theater. We were wired after the show and wanted to calm ourselves after. So we walked around trying to look for a cute pub near the theater. I don’t know how in the world we found the pub, but we heard some music and then saw a sign that said«good looking people this way». We were immediately in. It’s small. Real small. But my god is it adorable. We LOVED it. There was a quaint little group playing and we had the most delightful bartenders. Also, if you want to go somewhere that has an authentic english vibe to it, please go here. I honestly can’t remember what I ordered, probably just a pint. I tried to search for this pub about 2.5 years ago before I visited London again and I’m not sure if it was even on Unilocal radar because I searched for it for about an hour. That’s how much I loved it. Please check it out!

If this pub were in my neighborhood, it would get three stars. But it’s not in my neighborhood. It is in nightmare tourist central and somehow manages to hide away just enough so that it’s convenient to get to without the touristy foot traffic. The beer selection is pretty average. I only had the nachos, but they were alright, too. The place is clean(bathrooms and all! Always appreciated), comfortable, and atmospheric, and you will not hear too many accents aside from British on any given visit. It feels like a secret pub to me because it’s tucked ever so nicely in its spot. Not a whole lot to say, but I really appreciate that this place is here.

A great little pub tucked away in a corner around Trafalgar Sq. Absolutely homey little place full of locals with an occasional tourist wandering in. Well poured pints of Guinness and a cast of cask conditioned ales, make this a «must hang out in the afternoon» kind of place. A small but updated pub menu provides decent food to round out the bohemian appeal. A recent visit ended up with a few pints of guinness, chili prawns, broccoli and chips as a tapa and the chippy standard fried fish. Prawns were perfectly cooked: cooked thorough yet juicy, the tapas all were well made and perfect for warming up your insides after wandering around in the chilly weather and the batter fried fish was excellent! Moist tender fish wrapped in a crunchy envelope… a sprinkling of malt and life was good!

What a quaint gem of a pub, especially considering the location*! I popped into the Two Chairmen on Valentine’s Day with a gent friend of mine after a movie at nearby theater. It was late in the evening and we caught the last drink before last call. It was a truly lovely place to sit down and enjoy a beer worth having – they offer more than just the typical pub offerings, including bottles of Sierra Nevada to make me feel truly at home(all American beers count as «home» when you haven’t been back to the US in six months!). The service was friendly, the other patrons were cheery, and the downstairs** was brightly lit and comfortable for both small and large groups. Back to the one star(*) above, which I only included because in this area of town, it’s incredibly hard to find a real authentic pub experience that isn’t schmaltzy or themed in some way. This is one of them, just off Trafalger and a stone’s throw from Piccadilly – it’s the kind of place a tourist can get a real«London pub» experience without having to walk too far or risk a bad experience. Other reviewers have mentioned it, but I wanted to underscore it, because it really is nice to find, unexpected in this area. And the two stars(**), because while I was only downstairs, other reviewers mention there’s a nice upstairs area. I didn’t even wander up there, but I’d recommend checking out the other reviews to see what they thought. In conclusion, it’s a nice place. Tuck in, have a pint, enjoy the experience. It’s nice to find in the area!

Trafalgar? Thirsty? A great stop in pub just steps off of the square. After a day of walking and museums, a pint of Pride was just the elixar. Great atmosphere, cheerful service!

In Trafalgar Square? Want a decent pint? When you see Albannach, take the dodgy little mews and pop into this hidden gem. Landlord and London Pride on keg, cosy and comfy and pubby with out being Weawwy Bri’ish, moit. Just a nice little old man pub hidden away and apparently frequented by the British Council, Whitehall, and other regular folk. And it’s nice. And there’s an upstairs. Where you’re likely to get a seat. And now I’ve ruined it. But you, Nelson, Thomas, and Barry, did it first.

We were in London for work about six months ago. My buddy from Boston told us about this place and I would totally agree that this is the coolest pub in all of London. My suggestions. Order an ale on cask, you look like a «knob» if you order a pint of Bass. It’s gonna sound stupid, but the fish and chips are done perfectly, and will get you much respect from the locals. Cheers–

You always think to yourself when you’re in this neighborhood, «Now, I’m sure there’s something other than TGI, Texas Embassy, or an All-Bar-One around here somewhere!!» Indeed there is. The Two Chairmen is tucked away just slightly hustle-and-bustle adjacent but quiet enough(when we were there at least) to still pack in a good pub experience. The downstairs bit isn’t massive, but if you go upstairs there’s plenty of seating, perfect for a pint after you’re done playing tourist(or in my case, after working an event)… afterall, this is a stone’s throw from some of London’s must-see attractions… you may just want to dust off your camera and get back out there and take some snappy snaps of Liz’s house. Note: They serve Blue Moon for those on the hunt!
