Walk with me … off the tourist track but has an interesting history. Considering it is Jack the Ripper territory and a few hundred feet from The Blind Beggar where Ronnie Kray murdered George Cornell in 1966 then you may be wise to sit with your back to a wall while you down your pint(s). Been here for many a good music night with my cousin who lives across the road and most recently here for Sunday lunch but, alas, the Chef was not having any of it so we ended up sharing a Spanish Charcuterie ?! and chatting away to the table next to us who had also been bombed out of Sunday Roast by the Chef! Most of the staff here are temp workers more likely to speak Esperanto or Russhish than the Queens English so things can get a little confused but if you are not the churlish type then it can be quite a laff sometimes. As pub’s go it is not a bad spot and, when the Sun shows it’s face, sitting outside gangster spotting is the game. Closest tube is Whitechapel but if you come in your Jam Jar then free parking at Tesco’s across the way.

The service here is atrocious. This is our second visit and each time you feel like a beggar waiting, «please sir, may I have some more?» I can’t figure out how to get proper table service. Both visits we called ahead for reservations and a table was waiting for us. But still each time we waited and waited after being seated while others walk right in and get table service. If you feel like begging for a beer and begging to place a food order, you will enjoy the food and drink, eventually…

Can’t speak on price as we’re visiting from the states, however as for quality of food and service we were impressed. The selection of beers provided enough choices to keep us happy while enjoying exceptional fish and chips. The cod was a daunting portion for Cheryll while I inhaled the platter which included delicious chips, crispy and yet perfect inside. The service was friendly, offering tastes of their home brewed beer/ale and despite being packed near game time their staff checked on us often. Can’t compare it to other pubs nearby as we’re passing through however if first impressions mean anything… then it means we’ll recommend this pub to anyone else visiting Whitechapel seeking a nice affordable meal with a pint or two.

This place rarely fails to disappoint. The fish and chips are spectacular, the English breakfast phenomenal, the burgers amazing. Don’t even get me started on the sticky toffee pudding! The one disappointment was the Sunday roast. Just didn’t knock out socks off like everything else has. And it’s a bit pricey so when you shell out a couple of tenners on a roast, it better be well worth it. Today I just came for mushy peas. Yes, they’re that good. No, I don’t care if everyone was staring at me, including the chef. We are moving out of this borough tomorrow but you can bet we will be back soon, as soon as the Snakes Alive is back on tap! Great pub with great food and a great vibe. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could. Or I’d go back in time, avoid the roast, and give it 5 stars.

They have s really nice selection of local brews on tap and cask. Food also looks good, although I didn’t try it. But the service is atrocious. The bartenders are totally incompetent at managing the customers, which is possibly no surprise, considering that I stood waiting to order when a man who appeared to be the manager came to get some drinks for him and his friends. He was served ahead of everyone who was waiting, and he even took the time to lecture the bartender in how to pour. Terrible service, and there are plenty of other places I London to get good beer.

I am somewhat divided about this place. The food was delicious, but rather expensive and small portions for pub fare. The staff was okay, but food took quite a while to come out. The atmosphere was good, but crowded… but let’s start at the start. I had organised a large group of friends(12 people) to see Jurassic World at the Genesis Cinema before it disappears from the big screens. We met at the White Hart for dinner as it’s close to the cinema, but the food selection is a little more eclectic than your average run of the mill pub. I ordered two starters(lamb souvlaki and paprika chips) and they were fantastic! Flavourful and crispy and a perfect combination. Most of us in the group were quite happy with the food we got, but some of us waited quite a while. I guess with a large group in a busy pub that’s to be expected, but the differencesin serving time were quite severe. I’m told they have a great selection of beer as it’s a brew house, but as I don’t partake of the golden brew, I cannot form an opinion on how well they do in that regard. Generally it wasn’t a bad stay, but I probably won’t be returning. I didn’t

Nice local pub. They are a microbrewery and their food is very fresh. I shared the fried whitebait with aioli and the Spanish platter. The bread was soooo good! Will definitely come again, might just become my local go to pub!

I recently revisited this pub off of a recommendation of a respected brewer and was happily surprised that there has been a major change in the house beers. When i had been there just a few months before the beers were crap. Since then they have made a major change in the brewery and hired a real brewer who used to work for the award winning Redemption brewery. I got to meet Simon, the brewer, the day I was in. He was a great chap and was kind enough to show me around the brewery. He also explained to me the changes that have taken place and why the beer tastes so much better now. The brewery is known separately from the pub as ONEMILEENDBREWCO. He’s got a nice selection of beers from traditional bitters to american ipa’s, porters, lagers and some experimental stuff as well. Pretty much everything you can ask for, both on cask and keg. They have a good rotation of guest beers too. I’ve also had a couple things to eat here and its all been fantastic, especially the full english, it was amazing and gigantic! I could barely finish it. If you don’t fancy a pint they do really good coffee as well. All in all, a stunning place.

This really has changed. Its a microbrewery pub with great food. I hate pretentious places but the location, atmosphere and style make this a genuine go to place for me. I saw 5 real ales brewed on site and tried the sunday lunch — absolutely top notch. Went back with my partner and we tried the burgers — delicious. As someone who has taken the chance to try all the pubs in E1 and E3 over the past few years, this is the best of the new breed… recommended!

Meh, it’s OK. Aside from the fact that this place is a brewpub(with extremely average beers) this place is pretty much a pass. I wouldn’t come here if not for the house beers. The head brewer is a nice guy, also.

Nice cosy pub, third in the row for this week. Quite a large variety of beers, but not the same applies to the food. Still, it wasn’t bad, but the brownie that I had seemed to be a bit old and dry. The prices seemed a bit high and don’t correspond to the portions. The interior is really nice; I read somewhere that they have renovated it, so good job.

The White Hart is now open! After renovation, this bar is back. Great casks, good beer selection. Amazing jazz band on Sunday nights. A couple pointers to the new owners: Guinness should be on a dedicated nitro/CO2 blend and on a dedicated tap, no questions. Turn the lights down a bit while the band plays. Otherwise top notch. Good luck to you!

Great venue for football season! It has about 7 tv screens all around the pub so no matter where you sit you will always have a good view. The bar prices are fairly cheap. The atmosphere during games is electric. I recently went there for the Germany vs Portuga match and it was pretty packed so you can imagine the crowd during an England game. The best part about this place is that on tuesdays, you get 2 pizzas for 5 quid. And they are delicious too! They also have a pool table that is almost always free since people are occupied by the game on screen. Additionally they host Live Jazz every sunday at 8pm and the entry is free. Although, I have never been to any of the jazz events so i’m not sure how good it is. Nonetheless, if you are a sports fan, this is the place to go!

In many ways, it’s a bog standard pub. The drinks aren’t exactly imaginative or different for starters. However, it’s a pleasant place, lots of TV screens for sport and they sold awesome pizzas. Had an enjoyable night and if I’m in the area, I shall return.

Nice little pub, with a great venue upstairs used for theatre and music performances. You always get in the way of someone trying to watch the big screen, but the outside bit is pleasant, and good for people watching. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they have an OK range of J20. It gets *packed* when there’s a big sporting event on, but otherwise it’s a nice, pleasant pub, with a good atmosphere, friendly staff, good service and a good place to sit outside that doesn’t get consumed in the cigarette smoke of others.

The White Hart is a quality little pub down the road from Whitechapel tube station. Inside is a mixed crowd, a combination of old men and younger city slickers enjoying a pint after work. The vibe is quite good although I did see a couple of the old boys who kicked off with one another, fighting one second then becoming best mates the next although I think this is to do with too much drink than a violent crowd. Drink wise it is one of the cheaper in the area but the food is a little quieter. I had a sausage pannini thing which wasn’t great. Upstairs is a cosy little room which sometimes hosts music events with old sofas and tables scattered all over the place. I was also quite impressed with some graffiti on the toilet up here which read«if you are doing coke off this seat then you should seriously reevaluate your life». It’s not often that I agree with graffiti but in this case I can’t argue.

A pretty traditional pub at the very start of the Mile End road — this place actually has quiet a nice vibe and is good for a few local and very cheap drinks. The pints are well below the normal and when I was in they were advertising £3.20 for a double vodka and mixer which is a pretty studenty rate. The studenty crowd weren’t really in though and most people were fairly local up for a good night. They have quite a convenient little passage way at the side of the pub where smokers can feel a little more sheltered and a little less shunned than if they were to stand on the side of the road. Good news all round.

Well, we rolled in to watch the England-Germany game. And it was full. And yeah, I think we all commented on the ‘mixed crowd’, which is nice. So, it wasn’t too studenty, not too old mans/womans, too ‘urban’ but a good bit of all of them. It’s decorated old-style. Now, I don’t know whether that was a recent re-fit to make it look all old and traditional, or whether it’s actually not been done up for years. Either way, a sympathetic atmosphere to drink in. Decent prices. Not many places still up and running where you can buy two pints for under a fiver. YOUCANHERE. I got chatting to a 87-year old cockney woman, who was showing people photos of some mens’ football team from the 80s. I don’t know why, she just was. So that was fun. And England won, and we all felt mildy excited about that. Yeah, I suppose this being 1 Mile End Road, the White Hart stands one mile out of the city, and it’s a good pub.

The White Hart pub sits at the very start of Mile End Road and in doing so marks the 1 mile mark from the old gate of the City of London. Surprisingly, the pub doesn’t really play up on this at all, I’d have called it ‘Milestone’ or something and tried to encourage the history a little, stuck up some old maps and pewter pots and maybe organised an Elizabethan dress party… oh well. The White Hart as it is looks pretty new, it’s not quite a modern gastropub but nor is it an East-End boozer, it sits a bit in between and in so doing doesn’t really seem to have much of an identity. That said it’s not a bad place, there’s a decent choice of drinks for fairly decent prices, the bar staff are pretty friendly and they have Sky TV, which is nice. Furthermore, The White Hart regularly plays host to local bands who can sometimes be good, but invariably are pretty piss-poor. This is a weird one, ostensibly there seems to be nothing wrong with this place; it ticks all the right boxes of what a pub should do, but it’s just a bit nothingey. It doesn’t really get you going one way or the other and because of this I probably won’t go back.
