I can review this tiny nook from 2 perspectives… as a restaurant and as a catered private venue. Located in a building housing studios and classrooms for the Globe Theatre’s Education branch it attracts a large number of students. The prices were great and do not rip people the way other places do in this area. They had a nice array of breakfast cereals, porridges and croissants. Sandwiches were also good as well. After dining there, I was pleased to learn that my daughter’s acting company was having their private post-performance wrap party at Theo’s! Although small, the venue met the needs of the 18 students along with their parents and instructors. Hors d’ouerves were delicious and the wine did flow! I would recommend Theo’s as a good cheap alternative to the other restaurants surrounding Shakespeare’s Globe.

London is a rip off for Americans(because of the exchange rate). But this place is a little oasis. I had a delicious hot meal with a side of fresh, chilled vegetable salad for £5.00.

Theo’s café is a great little place for eating especially as it’s a little off the beaten track and so you can still have a tasty lunch without loads of noise, it’s cosy inside with a lovely big table for bigger groups and small little singer sewing machine tables forming smaller tables for pairs of diners. The prices I thought, were excellent with a fiver covering a generous main course, which included a salad. They also do breakfast and the staff were friendly and generally it’s a lovely place that feels a bit like a local secret. Well worth it if you don’t want to lunch in one of the more tourist laden restaurants around the Tate Modern area and the coffee was excellent too.
