Love, love, love this place. Possibly the best pub this side of the Thames. A real hidden gem. Cannot recommend highly enough and some pleasant, friendly locals. The couple running the pub are lovely too. Best for lazy Sunday’s or after work drinks on a Friday.

Animal lovers rejoice. This is a pet friendly pub with free dog treats for your pooch at the side of the bar and a resident cat which goes around the tables looking for any food you may have to spare. It is also one of those pubs you will not discover unless you know about it or live in the area. Hidden amongst houses in the back streets of Brixton, it’s a lovely little place to make your local if you live in the area. The inside of the pub is fairly small but there is a big beer garden at the back and some outside sitting space at the front. They also have a games room you can book for the night and hold regular pub quizzes to draw people in. The staff is really friendly and there is a good selection of drinks. If you are going there during day time and order food just make sure the cat doesn’t try to eat it. I would not mind to find myself there again although it is a bit far from my house. I do want to try the quiz though(and fail miserably) because they are always fun.

One of my all time fav pubs in London. Great selection of drinks there, including a glorious glass of london stout! There’s a nice atmosphere and people of all ages enjoy a good pint there, so great if your parents are visiting. The staff are really friendly too, we went for quiz night and booked a table but when we got there most of the chairs had gone. The lovely bar man couldn’t apologise enough, and even went to his flat to get chairs for the whole group to sit down. The quiz night was really fun too! The garden is probably the best thing about this place, it’s not huge but it has a great lay out with cool decorations. It’s an allrounder, good to catch up with friends, take visiting relatives and great for dates too — cosy inside in the winter and glorious in the garden in the summer! Perfect!

Visited here tonight and it was pretty good, though in walking in I must say it stank of feet! Decent prices though, a chilled and friendly vibe and and good drinks with friendly service. I’d definitely recommend visiting during the week and if it’s sunny, enjoying the patio area.

Best pub in the world! We regularly attend their pub quiz on a Thursday night, always rammed but has a great atmosphere. Nice secret beer garden and does food too. Draught ales and good selection of spirits, plus it shows the rugby. Great pub in a beautiful hidden square off Brixton High St

A little bit away from the middle of Brixton the Trinity is a cosy little pub with an excellent ‘hidden’ garden out the back. It’s not too loud of a crowd but can get busy at the weekends, standing room only generally. The actual inside space is small but the garden out the back is quite sizeable. I’d say generally this makes the Trinity better in the summer months. The drinks are the usual range of pub stuff, nothing to write home about but you should get everything you need. All in all a very nice pub.

Ladies, watch out for the loo next to the Secret Garden. The one on the right has a broken lock on it, which resulted in me being trapped in it. Unbelievably embarrassing. Someone outside washing their hands must have heard me fiddling around with the lock and door and muttering many words of disgust and horror at my situation. «You all right in there?» she called out. «I’m fine, I’m fine! Really, I’m fine. The lock’s just a bit jammed, I think.» «Shall I call for reinforcements?» Oh dear God. I had a vision of an army of drunken but helpful men battering down the door while I shamefully cowered in the corner of the stall. CANTHISPOSSIBLYBETHEMOSTEMBARRASSINGMOMENTOFMYLIFE? And wait til they hear my American accent. I WANTTODIENOW. Meanwhile, my friend is out there in the pub, clueless and probably wondering if I’ve passed out from the combination of my first pint of Guinness in a pub in a decade and jet lag from a long overseas flight. Fortunately, through much gentle prodding and fingering of the lock, I was able to slide it open and emerge unscathed except for my shattered and broken self-esteem.

My new favourite pub in Brixton. I’d only been here a smattering times before, a lot less than I should have considering I used to work in Piano House on the same road. But each time I’ve been recently I’ve found friendly locals, a decent wine list and very reasonably priced and tasty food. Not to mention a covered(in places) garden. It’s hidden down an unassuming road off the High st and Acre Lane, so you tend not to come across the new-Brixton revellers in town for the afternoon. One of a few places in central Brixton you can still escape the new-schoolers. Regardless, it’s still quite busy most evenings.

A great little pub tucked away on this lovely little square away from the hustle and bustle of Brixton high st. A few nice ales on tap as well as all the usuals. The staff and patrons are all really nice, even the cats! Food selection sounded a treat and they seem to like to have fun games and things for customers who are encouraged to submit drawings and that for competitions. Modernised but still has lots of character. Gets the thumbs up! C*

So, I’ve been living in Brixton for nearly 6 years now, and am ashamed to say that I’ve never popped into the Trinity Arms. This could be due to a few gentlemen in St George’s cross and very short haircuts that I remember sitting outside of around 10 years ago, when I was deciding to move to the UK. But what I’ve been missing! This is a real neighbourhoody gem. They do art contests(current one: draw a retro video game) for money behind the bar. Kids welcome before about 7. OK, it’s a Young’s pub, so the ales aren’t all that, but it feels like a real human pub that’s not trying to be anything besides a nice place to have a quiet drink. In your own neighbourhood.

Oh Brixton, what a reputation you have! Not a single person mentions going to, hanging out in, living in or thinking about going to, hanging out or living in Brixton without the caveat that«it *used to be* so … « Yeah, even the American knows(thanks in large part to the Clash) it was home to some serious shit once upon a time. I’ve found that walking around there now shows not a trace of what everyone feels the need to aside about. Walk out of the Brixton Tube and there’s a shiny H&M across the street. Stroll to the left and you’ll pass Motherhood and the charming, towering Ritzy Picturehouse. Stroll to the right, make another right, and you’re in a lovely neighbourhood of Victorian conversion flats on tree-lined streets. Among one of these lovely roads was where Trinity Arms nestles. Came for a drink and meal before a show at the nearby Brixton Academy, and this was the perfect post-work, pre-show Friday night spot. A good crowd, but not obnoxiously loud or large, of fellow 20s and 30s happy hour-ers, unwinding with a smoke and a beer on the bar’s cute front garden, catching up at the indoor cozy tables or outside in the rear garden. I had a couple pints of Kronenburg at £3.50 a pop and I ordered the seasonal vegetarian pie with chips for £8-ish(my husband had the steak and ale pie with mash, £9-ish). It took about 15 minutes too long to arrive(almost 30 minutes altogether) but was piping hot and incredibly tasty once it appeared. Bar service was gruff and teetering into downright aggressive, though I had the same woman each of the three times I went up to order so it could be employee-specific and I won’t assume that’s the norm here. All in all it’s a charming pub in a pretty ‘hood with good food. Worth checking out

Amongst the myriads of pubs London has to offer(all of which generally are recommendable simply due to the fact that they are what they are: pubs!) this one deserves special mention: it is a little more modern, rather bright, super cozy and attracts a crowd a little younger then the regular pub on the corner would. I loved the interior which is dominated by the bar in the centre of the room surrounded by bar stools, couches, tables for two to four people. I sat at a chess board style table, pretty! There’s a hand written menu which sounds great(I tasted only the chips unfortunately, big chunks of potatoes and obviously very fresh). The staff were extremely sweet and friendly and I even got my favourite drink mixed:). Last but not least: two cute cats live here and check up on the guests, and these are really sweet, especially the grey one with the softest fur ever!

A lot of the other reviews here and elsewhere focus on the quiet, the tranquility to be found at this hidden away pub(their website also plays up this angle). Not when I turned up to a full on street party. men in drag… and ‘Come Dine With Me’(ugh) was being filmed a bit further up the street. It was all happening, basically. I can see the charm though. Respite from the chaos was available in the rapidly cooling rear bear garden(it was about to get dark). And Bath Gem is proving to be a delicious guest in Young’s pubs recently.

You have to go here just to see a little side of Brixton which you won’t quite believe. This is the pub to which I bring all the Brixton naysayers in the hope of conversion, and for the most part it seems to work its magic. Firstly the location — it’s a couple of minutes walk from Brixton High Street, and only 5mins from the Academy, but yet a million miles from either. It’s on a genteel, pretty, peaceful little square — now as much as I love the hustle and bustle of Brixton, a girl needs a break sometimes, and this is the place to which I retreat. It’s a Young’s pub and it’s a fairly typical boozer, nice ales, nothing too fancy… but it also has a lovely courtyard beer garden at the back — all ivy covered walls and room for a few beer tables. I prefer sitting out here, but the tables outside the front of the pub are also a good spot. Some tranquility in Brixton — who’d have thought it!!!

This used to be my local — lucky girl! This is a good traditional London pub with no music and a great atmosphere. Good beer, places to sit and a lively bunch who go there. Nothing ‘in-yer-face’ about this one. People are very friendly here and you are likely to make friends here, which is unusual, especially in London where there are a few places which can be more aggressive or pretentious.

This little garden is what makes houses on Trinity Gardens so expensive and is a nice little space in front of The Trinity Arms. It was once a lawn, that was deemed too costly to maintain and so was concreted over. This was an unsightly solution that thanks to petitioning and lottery funding, was to get a complete renovation. The renovation ended up being that of replacing the concrete with tarmac, adding a couple of saplings, a couple of odd looking benches and leaving a load of soil to get grown over by weeds. The cheek of the lottery to put a plaque on the gate proudly saying the funded the work on the park is laughable.

I love this pub, a proper local. It’s set in a square a bit like in Eastenders — a bit of tranquility in Brixton. I’ve only ever been there at about 6pm during the week as it’s on my walk home from the tube but I can recommend the beer –it’s a Youngs pub with the original Youngs tiled frontage. I’ll give it five stars as there’s nothing wrong with the place but if you’re looking for a young crowd or rowdy pub this isn’t the place for you.
