Subway should be every student’s favourite place — yes, it has sugar and salt and everything nice BUT it’s nowhere near as bad as the golden arches or the colonel’s chicken. Subway started as a diet range so how could it be as bad? You just have to be sensible and take responsibility for your sandwich! I lived off Subway when I lived in America and the choices are so much more exciting. You can get pizzas and salads in America, and 2 cookies! 2COOKIES! I tend to go for something like turkey & ham due to the leaness of the meat and opportunity to save calories, though I have tried items such as the breaded chicken and meatballs, and I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad one! I personally avoid sauce as I think the melted cheese and certain veggies(namely my friend cucumber and tomato) make everything moist enough. Lunchtime deals are well priced and there’s no fries involved, so there’s a huge bonus. Service can be a bit hit and miss as servers are generally from across the road in Whitty P or other university establishments, but I don’t blame them; working at Subway probably has the perks of free/cheap sarnies but, when it’s full of hungover students(or graduates, ahem) you are bound to get a bit annoyed, wishing you were them rather than dishing out footlongs and explaining to people that they need to choose a bread, not just a filling. Always surprising to see Maccy D’s full and Subway empty as Subway is by far the better option, leaving no greasy taste or sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. The chain should be endorsed by parents across the country!

My lunch time destination. There are those days when you are too lazy to go and shop for groceries and those days turn into weeks and then you find yourself in every McD’s and Subway trying to make do with cheap lunches. Subway is definitely a healthier option! This particular Subway does student discounts and is very friendly like most other ones. The sandwiches are good, depends who’s making them. You’re likely to be satisfied with a full tummy and get on with your work!

Definitely the new axis of evil, no better than McDonald’s, KFC or such places, and probably no healthier either. The best thing about subway is that you get an amazing selection of fillings for your sub. The worst thing is that when you put the ‘dressing’ on it’ll all taste like the sauce, so it wont matter what you’ve chosen. Also, it wont matter what sauce you choose because they all taste the same too. Recently I discovered that they also do salads, and though I have seen the lettuce coming out of a big industrial sized bag and not off an actual lettuce, these are pretty impressive, and are only 30p more than a six inch sub. You can still have the ‘dressing’ on this if you want to get some leaves and greens down you without having to taste it. 3 stars. I’ve added one for the salads.

The new axis of evil, what with McDonalds slowly but surely cleaning up its act is Subway. Home to «fresh» sandwiches. If anyone has ever seen the production of the breads they serve(basically pure sugar) then they may think twice about their next sub of the day. Perhaps I’m being too critical? It isn’t as if I never set foot in such places but I do try to avoid them. The same can’t be said for a lot of my mates who still are held tight within this mega brands clutches. But yes I agree the sandwiches are tasty for what their worth. This spot has exactly the same décor as any other subway anywhere in the world. They’ve recently started selling tiny pots of meatballs and such which are completely rank. Nowt else to say really.
