Very disappointing. We stopped for a pint a quick snack. We ordered nachos that were supposed to come with guac, cheese sour cream, peppers and meat. Instead they only came with cheese, guacamole, sour cream and were missing salsa and jalapeños. When we asked for the salsa and peppers we were told the kitchen was out and were instead given sweet chili sauce which tasted terrible with nachos. Ultimately we demanded our money back and got it but it was a real disappointment. If the restaurant can’t make an item on the menu because they run out of ingredients, then shouldn’t they tell patrons before they order it?!? If only they had told us, we would have ordered something else. I would not return to this place nor would I recommend it.

BEST fish & chips I’ve had in London! Im a huge fish and chips fan & these were absolutely the best I’ve had. Light, crisp, not oily at all! I could have eaten another plate!

When I was studying abroad in Italy, I took a weekend trip to visit a friend in London and we went to this place a few times. If you’re looking for decently affordable food(considering the exchange rate compared to the dollar will make you cry), this is a perfect place to go to. It’s located just down the street from the Baker Street tube stop in a very lively area. The actual food is just typical pub food, but for 9 pounds I got a really good burger, fries, and a pint of Guinness. Not the world’s best food or atmosphere, but it’s got a good menu if you’re looking for something to eat when there’s not much to do or if you’ve been exploring the city all day.

This lovely little pub has a relaxed atmosphere and a modern vibe but I also really love the food there. The fish and chips is massive, the fried squid and the breakfast with the bacon and eggs absolutely delicious. You should also try the beef burger and the skinny fries(if you can ask for them instead of the thick ones in the other dishes as well do so). There are board games there as well so if you have some extra time in your hands you can also play a bit while eating. That’s a full package right there!

This place is convenient and has a huge bar with lots of choices of beer on tap and in bottles. You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner or snacks. There’s one big problem: If you’re there after 10:30 pm, you will sharing the restaurant with a family of mice who comfortably come racing across the floor of the restaurant to scrape up food off the rug!!! Yes, I did say family of mice! The staff even have names for them like Usain Bolt — the famed Jamaican Olympic track star.

What can I say? It’s a Wetherspoon’s. Do you need to pee before you get on the tube? They probably won’t notice if you just walk in and up the stairs to the SUPER trippy mirrored bathrooms. Or have a pint; it will be cheap. I was there for one drink and was asked by an old man to watch his plastic bag full of random crap while he disappeared for ages, then was told I was beautiful and asked if I was single by someone that I’m guessing cruises the Wetherspoon’s late at night looking for lost souls to take home. It is about what you’d expect. But a nice location centrally when you need it.

It’s part of the J D Wetherspoon chain so expect all the things and deals that come with these pubs. it’s right next to Baker Street tube station so It’s busy and full of tourist who have probably just escaped Madame Tussauds. Also sometimes one of the pubs on the ‘circle line’ pub crawl — you’ll spot the people who are on that. Drinks are cheap for London standards, I think but don’t get too adventurist like Nava N. and try to order a Pimms(*shock*) — It came with none of the trimmings unless you call orange and lemon Pimms trimming. Stick to the usual beer, wine and mixers. Haven’t had food here but assume it’s the usual Wetherspoon shabang. Basically a good place if you’re meeting someone near Baker Street and moving on else where after but saying that I’d probably head to The Globe opposite just cause it has an outside and the sun shines on their side after work.

Just another Wetherspoon though this place has some history: The place gets it’s name from«The Metropolitan Line» which was the first tube line in town. London Undergrounds head offices also use to be at this location. It’s cheap and the food is OK so if your looking for a budget meal this is a good option… If you like cask ales check out their offerings: they always have some specials on tap and the prices are cheap compared to most of central London(the same hint goes for any Wetherspoon!).

A girlfriend once told me, «It’s so big. It must be a nice experience.» And so I had to demonstrate how size doesn’t really equate to pleasure. Of course we were talking about a restaurant! In any case, the Metropolitan Bar is a place that holds a lot of promise due to its giant size, but it can also feel half-empty, even with a few hundred people inside. If you’ve ever been to a big casino in Vegas, this has the same vibe… loads of people, but spread out just enough that you don’t feel cramped. This also means that the fun comes in with you. In other words, it’s a good place to meet a bunch of friends to party, but only one of you might be laid by a stranger. And there’s no guarantee there will be sizable rewards.

Busy; mediocre service; a ridiculous frontage that puts a neon nightclub entrance on a pub. It’s Wetherspoons, not the most offensive because of the fine architecture, but really, move along, there’s nothing to see here.

What I’m trying to figure out is how this Wetherspoons doesn’t have the 5 pound beer/burger deal… like EVERY Wetherspoons has it. The beer/burger combo here is 6.10. SIXPOUNDSTENPENCE? WHY? Such a random price and it’s higher than all other Wetherspoons I’ve been to(which is MANY). I’m a Wetherspoon-addict and this place does rock some features I like(couches! and still pretty cheap prices) but comparatively it’s hard to give this place a good review being that it’s the most expensive Wetherspoons I’ve been to. My friend got one of their curry dishes and his mouth got lit ablaze. He was really struggling and sweat was dripping down his forehead, mixing with his tears as he cried in the wake of its spiciness. So if you like spicy food, GOFORIT! I’ve been here a couple of times, the burger/beer is classic and can’t be tainted in any way. I love the food! Unfortunately the beer prices are also rather high. Carlsburg for 3.25 is pushing it, I’ve been to Wetherspoons where it was 2 pounds! SO yeah. You’re not going to hate your time here, you’ll LOVEIT, but it’s not your cheapest option in the chain. Still likely the cheapest in the area!

Stop #1 on my personalised pub crawl. My friend, Claire F, is heading to Australia for a year(or more if she finds herself a suitable Australian man and refuses to come back) and requested we attempt the Circle Line pub crawl as a farewell(to her and most likely our livers as well). Being widely considered the foremost authority on pubs, crawling, and combining the two, within my group, it fell to me to plan and drunk-proof this outing. We started at the Metropolitan Bar right at Baker Street station(you can start anywhere as long as you end up where you started… joys of the OLD circle line). First impressions: This place is bloody massive. It’s deceptive as the tiny bit you can see from the street appears to be there just for show. Once you walk in and turn right you are greeted by a cavernous room with a bar down one length and plenty of tables and booths for any size group. At 10am on a Saturday morning, it was half full of mature couples eating their full fry up and they were undoubtedly less than thrilled to see a dozen brightly dressed and far too energetic 20-somethings pile into the place. Service was very quick and some great banter from our bar staff got us well primed to continue this crawl onwards. Drink of choice: Nice easy ale(I think maybe it was Honeydew) to line the stomach.

Wetherspoons is definitely a cheap option if you’re looking for drinks or pub food. On TH they have curry specials and besides that they always have burger specials(burger+beer=6quid), so cheap for london standards and its decent, not super yummy, but it won’t make you through up either. I wouldn’t advise going here though if you’re a vegetarian, or pescetarian like me, as they options are limited(their veggie burger is one of the driest things i have ever eaten, so I cannot recommend it). The atmosphere is ok, most Wetherspoons are really big, so the atmosphere is not great, but with all the leather chairs and tables you don’t feel cramped. What is nice though are the lous, really big and clean, which is also a rare find in London. I still don’t really like Wetherspoons, but the facts that it’s right across from uni and has cheap drinks will have me come back! If it wasn’t right in front of me, i would choose another pub though.

Well, I wouldn’t say this is a favorite of mine… but i love the loos… especially when I’m drunk. A place to drink BEFORE you DRINK, if you know what I mean. The bartenders are all very silly. DONOT ask for a pitcher.

I only went in here once but it surprised me! It doesn’t look very big from the exterior but it is nice and roomy on the inside. We usually used it as a meeting spot before going somewhere else as it was close to uni and, as several reviewers have mention, as part of Wetherspoon’s, it had some really cheap food and drink specials.

It’s big. A huge cavern — not sure if it was part of a hotel or a waiting room, but either way, it has a high ceiling, leather sofas, and good food and drink. As the others note, it’s part of a chain, but it’s a chain that normally means a good standard of food, drink, and atmosphere, and it doesn’t disappoint. The ladies loos always intrigue me, with the sine curve, and lots of mirrors — slight art deco theme. All in all, a great spot to hang out, although usually better after the commuter rush.

I found out about J.D. Wetherspoon’s just by doing a Google search. I was concerned that London was going to break my bank. Turns out that London wasn’t as expensive as I had feared(due mostly to the favorable exchange at the moment). Anyway, this sounded like my type of bar/pub. And it was! We were going to go on a Sunday night but apparently London closes down all cool bars whenever there’s a soccer game. I was saddened but determined to come back the next day. Arrived at around noon. The bar was huge! Lots of comfortable leather chairs, big tables, really cozy atmosphere. I ordered off of their«New Deal» menu, which I got a pint of real ale for $ 1.49 and fried eggs and ham for $ 3.99(in pounds of course). I think this deal used to be cheaper, anyway, this is rock bottom pricing for London so I was happy. Then I got a double rum and Coke, which was also on special. I think a rum and Coke was $ 1.79, then the added shot(25 ml) was $ 1. I had wanted to get a Pimm’s cup lemonade drink, but they were out of Pimm’s. I don’t remember what Laina ordered exactly. I think it was a club sandwich or something. I think she liked it but it wasn’t out of this world. The dessert was really good. I think it had warm brownie with mint chocolate chip ice cream. Something like that. Anyway, if I lived in England i would go to this chain all the time. What’s not to like?

In fairness, you either love or loathe Wetherspoons pubs(which the Met bar is) — they are generally dingy old buildings that have been renovated to cater for a big pub. Drinks and food are amongst the cheapest you can find in London, and are of variable quality(especially the food — depends if the microwave is on the blink), and the ‘locals’ are often ‘interesting’ — Wetherspoons tend to be open 10am — 12am and some people see that as a bit of a challenge. Saying that, I like going to Wetherspoons for a couple of cheap drinks with mates, so would recommend!

I still think that Wetherspoon pubs have the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. Which is surprising, considering I’m from the States! Metropolitan(or the Met as I called it) is located right across the street from the University of Westminster Marylebone dorms. So, needless to say, I was there all the time. Cheapest pint of Strongbow in the city! It’s a great location — tons of room and seating so you can bring all your friends. Bartenders are hit and miss, there were some really great ones and some that probably couldn’t care less about you. My friends and I would always put some tables together and bring cards so we could play drinking games in the pub. If you don’t live in Marylebone, don’t fret, because the Baker Street tube station is right underneath the bar. It couldn’t be easier!
