Warm atmosphere and good choice of beers on tap. The fireplace contributes to the nice atmosphere in this pub. The terrace on the back is kind of nice and has heaters. The waitress offered me to taste the beer which I think is great. Board games are available.

Outdoor seating — NOBEEROUTSIDE! Your friend is not having beer? Fifty pence for her to pee. Crowded, small, tripe music. Just do not go here. Besides, the barman hates being interrupted when he is reading to fill yourpint.

Great place to meet before a curry on the cowley road. Good range of beers and some great organic snacks. We even came back after the curry as the Cowley Road was dead as the students had gone down !! Great to find somewhere with a bar billard table although I am sure I was much better when I was younger !!!

This is one of the few pubs in Oxford for which I have any genuine affection and I only regret I don’t live closer to it. It’s spacious, has decent beer and a famously great selection of board games which are well-used. They’ve recently added some interesting home-made bar snacks, like scotch eggs and pork pies — yum! The atmosphere is laid-back. Not a ‘big night out’ pub, but rather a decent local where you can catch up with old mates or even just read the paper. There’s no loud music and as others have noted, everybody feels equally welcome. That said, it’s not actually a major haunt for undergrads and tourists, which makes for a nice break from the masses of paralytic poshos and confused Americans in the city centre.

I lived across the street from this pub and it made the perfect end of the night place to go. Decently priced pints, bright lighting, good music and people. It’s deceptively large, from the outside you’d never think it could fit as many people as it can. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Easily the best pub in St Clements. Good staff. Good atmosphere. It has a bar billards table!(Quite rare these days) Hate to be picky, but it ain’t a Fuller’s pub as mentioned below, it is a YOUNG’s pub(formerly Wandsworth, London, now Wells & Young’s Brewing Company, Bedford).

The first thing you’ll notice on the photo is the Subway. Don’t be put off. I became such a regular here during 2003⁄04 that the Landlady used to wave when I walked past. The staff are really friendly, they care about their beer, there is an awesome beer garden at the back, board games, and they do carry out bags of Youngs. They also do really nice mustard Brannigans crisps, and you don’t find those very much about town.

I have been drinking here on and off since the 1980’s. Its a place one can enjoy Real ale with friends knowing there was going to be a pleasant atmosphere. The toilets are upstairs and there is a small outside area.

A pleasant enough pub in the heart of st clements but the ‘garden’ is the edge of a public car park and you have to pay to park even if using the pub but handy for the age concern shop!

The Angel and Greyhound is a traditional summer meeting place of my friends and I. It’s not the greatest pub in the world, but there’s somewhere to sit outside(just try to avoid the tables nearest the road, as Magdalen roundabout isn’t the nicest view or most peaceful place in the world), it’s cosy inside, and the drinks are cheaper than in central Oxford. The staff aren’t always very tolerant of people not drinking, so make sure you sit away from their view if only one or two people in your group are buying drinks. They’re also very aggressive if you so much as wheel your bike too close to the pub, as they have a real thing against people parking their bikes outside. So why do I come here? It’s a convenient location if you’re trying to meet people from North Oxford and Cowley; it’s got a good vibe in the evening, and it’s laid back and good if you go with friends.
