Only ever been ere hungover for a nice morning breakfast but a nice place to chill, have a fry up and read the paper. Can’t fault it for what it is and in a really good location. Limited seating is a slight problem but only ever had to wait 5 mins max!

Good greasy spoon. Fry up and a mug of tea for a good price. Just disappointed by the sausages. Wall’s bangersyou can do better!

A really homely, friendly and well-run place. Whether it is a quick snack, or all the trimmings English brekkie, this place is quick, quality-orientated and not overly expensive. Clean and comfortable interior means it is a café of choice should I ever be passing.

The Tick Tock is a lovely place if you want to have a relaxed breakfast and a coffee with friends. There isn’t much seating, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is all freshly cooked and of good quality. I can especially vouch for their full-English breakfasts. Plus the service is friendly. It isn’t cheap, but compared to prices elsewhere in Oxford, it is very reasonable. I would recommend this café.

One of the friendlier places I visited in Oxford. They have free wi-fi available and a large selection of sandwiches, including veggie ones! In the morning they have a full english breakfast — far more than I could eat. They do require a 10 pound minimum to use a card, so I found myself buying breakfast and lunch together to meet it. The prices are fair and the food is good. Oh and the place is really cute and hard to miss with its red exterior.

I agree with other reviewers that this is probably one of the most reasonably priced places in Oxford, which says a lot about this city, rather than the overall standards of catering or hospitality. I had scrambled egg on toast and it was basically just a small pile of scramble(with little or no seasoning) resting on a small puddle of tepid water, so I had to ask for another plate just to avoid the toasts getting soggy too. The butter was too cold which made it difficult to spread and in my opinion the toasts should arrive buttered and the scramble on top rather than deconstructed, but it’s difficult to complain too much for under £3. Coffee was decent if a little watery with a cup filled to the brim, so that the waitress spilt quite a lot of it in the saucer, with no apologies or the offer of a serviette or of another saucer. An overwhelmingly underwhelming experience that you would for the most part only get in a caf in the British isles, rather than anywhere else in the rest of Europe.

The Tick Tock Café is probably the cheapest place in Oxford to get a filling breakfast and a cup of coffee, and it isn’t half bad. There are several substantial meal options for under £3(they do a very fine fried egg baguette), and the coffee is surprisingly good. The walls are indeed covered in clocks displaying the time in different countries, although disappointingly the clocks don’t particularly relate to the countries they represent(a trick missed there, I feel). Last time I went the service was a bit slow, but the staff were very apologetic and the food, when it arrived, was fine.
