I visited Cafe Rouge today for the first time & looked at both the 2 course & 1 course menues before ordering from the 2 course menue priced at £16.95. I was informed that the steak was not in the menue so I ordered a
soup & beef meal. The food was nothing special & the mash potatoes looked & tasted as though they had been made from a packet mix. Although the man who served me was polite none of the other staff who were
continually walking around made eye contact.. My bill came to £26.85 including the coffee I had with my food
& when I queried it I was told that what I had ordered was not on the 2 course menue. The woman who I paid then asked if I would like to leave a tip which I declined to do as I had already been deliberately overcharged.
My tip to this company is don't overcharge as I won't be going back or recommending them.

The venue is stunning — a beautiful renovated Tudor building. The food is average, nothing special. The service is appalling — the place was largely empty and the three waiters were chatting and sipping on orange juice the entire time, aside from taking our order

Service poor and staff don’t take any notice regarding food allergies. I told the waiter I didn’t want toast with my breakfast as I didn’t eat wheat yet it arrived with toast on it and he said just give it to my friend. He missed the point totally. Food was only just warm and the only time we got good service was when we asked for the bill. I have been here a couple of times before but never again.

I have been going here for years. The service is always good and the resteraunt has a lovely feel to it. The food, however is a bit hit and miss. The menu has become limited and the best dishes always seem to be removed from the menu. The loup de mere was really nice, and the rump of lamb was the best and tastiest dish ever, but both have been taken off the menu. Such a shame.

This is one of my regular haunts — since it’s next door! The food is good French food, well presented. The building is lovely and part of it dates back to the 15th century. It’s an old pub«The Swan» and we managed to persuade Café Rouge to keep the name so its called«Café Rouge at The Swan». They do a Prix Fixe menu which offers very good value.

visted Café rouge tonight. Have been several times now so can speak with experience. Atmosphere and semi authentic french staff are ok but its the food thats so bad. Chicken and chips and quiche and chips. Reminds me of chicken and chips in a basket at the bingo hall. No effort goes into the cooking or how it looks on the plate. My husband couldnt finish his so called french chicken as it was dry, and the chips just made it drier. My quiche was small, not tasty no garnish or salad apart from a teaspoon size of coleslaw. chips should be home made and delicious, not the oven style we are all used to at home. Not for £50 for 2 adults and 1 x child. We didnt go for desert as the main was so bad it didnt entice us to delve in. Terrible. I hope Gordon Ramsey, Or Marco Pierre White dont call in, as gosh knows what they would say. Sad as its our local restaurant, but as Ruislip is fully loaded with eateries, we will shop around and pick the best value along with the nicest food. Café Rouge is off our menu now. Will be writing for a full refund too.

This restaurant is great. This place is pretty new but it is a lovely place. The atmosphere is nice, it is child-friendly and have got a good selection on the menu. They have kids set meal with a drink, main course and desert. The special for that day when I was there was steak of venison with potatoes and sauce. We ordered a side dish of spinach. The food was lovely. The staff was helpful and recommended some dishes for us to try. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who asked me.
