Hubby and I stopped by the hotel while on tour in Stratford Upon Avon on recommendation of the tourist office. They were kind enough to seat even though we didn’t have a reservation and are we ever happy that they did. We were on a tight schedule so we only had the basic tea service not the deluxe which comes with a chocolate fondue. The sandwiches were freak as we’re the scones and the sweets were simply delectable. While the Grosvenor is a little bit of a walk I would definately recommend it over the other more touristy tea rooms in the heart of the tourist area.

Four of us came here for afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. We had the deluxe afternoon tea which included the usual sandwiches(egg/cucumber/cheese & tomato/smoked salmon), 2 scones(1 fruit and 1 plain), cream, jam, butter and then some mini cakes(mini brownie/fruit tartlet/macaroon) followed by a chocolate fondue(milk/white or dark) with strawberries, pineapple and mini doughnuts. All in all very good. The sandwiches were just white bread and the tea selection was varied but not huge. They were happy to bring more tea, cream etc when asked. The room felt a little cramped with 8 tables fitted into a relatively small conservatory. For £15pp you really can’t complain though! Staff were all polite. Worth a visit for afternoon tea if you’re in Stratford!

We stayed at this hotel for one night during a weekend in August when all the guesthouses and b&bs of Stratford were already fully booked. –way overpriced and impersonal. –uncomfortable bed with a synthetic duvet that was not even a little bit plump and a very soft mattress that left my back aching the next day. –the bath tub was so small that it was a bit exaggerated to call it a bath, I’d rather call it an inconvenient shower with a clamy shower curtain that will attack you. — despite a ridiculously expensive price, there was no biscuits in the room and only some cheap tea and coffee, no shower hats. — breakfast was no better: pouring cheap orange juice from concentrate into fancy jugs does not make it fresh, there were no baked beans with the full English breakfast, my poached egg was hard boiled and the coffee tasted stale. –All in all, it’s an OK hotel… for £40 a night max. £130 is waaaay exaggerated! On the plus side, staff were really nice and helpful.
