I love this place. Its a regular destination for work lunch. Wonton noodle soup is always fantastic and when accompanied by(non sweet) pork buns its even better. Note that as a big guy(6’5″) this doesn’t fill me up and this is my main criticism. I have to have a snack a few hours after as I’m super hungry again. The above is worth $ 19 or so, so its not an every day place, but once every few weeks. I always look forward to it.

Delicious dumpling bar supported by a range of noodles and soups. A meal runs about 12 – 15 dollars and worth ever cent.

As usual, the crab dumpling(still excellent), pork n shrimp dumplings(love them), veggie bun(the best), and dandan noodle… that sauce a bit too thick and not spicy enough

The moment you bite in to their pork dumpling, you realise the effort that goes into preparing this food must be outstanding. As the warm, delicious, soup bursts into you mouth, taking you back to your childhood as a seven year old eating yeayea’s dumpling in Shanghai. The only weird part being that you’re not Chinese and didn’t grow up in China. The spicy pork wonton soup was refreshing and so was the vegetarian noodle soup. Short of angels riding unicorns delivering the food you can’t ask for much more. You win this round Din Tai Fung, you win this round

My husband had been here for lunch and thought it was good but felt the location in chinatown was better. Since I was in the area shopping I thought I’d drop in. I ordered the pork dumplings and a pork bun. The service was good but the waiting time was longer than I had hoped. My dumplings were very good and juicy. They were on the small size but enough to fill me up. I wouldn’t bother with the pork bun again since It lacked flavor and was a little weak on the amount of meat inside. The location is nice and there is plenty of seating around. The prices are good and one of the least expensive places to eat at the Star. This place was good but if I had the chance to go back or try the Chinatown location — I’d rather go and try the one in Chinatown.

We ate here as part if a plan«B» because Yum Cha wasn’t being served for dinner at the Fisherman’s Wharf Seafood Restaurant. Unbeknownst to us, its only served during lunch hours. This place came highly recommended for its dumplings. However, I felt the food was over hyped. I had the chicken & prawn dumpling, pork bun, and shrimp fried rice. The dumplings were just okay, but way too messy and liquidy for me. I’ve had better renditions on San Francisco. The pork was under-cooked in the pork bun. I got sick as a result. I did find the shrimp fried rice to be okay. It was even better with a a touch of soy sauce. I do risk they offered low sodium. The service was good. Much better than the poor service I’ve experienced at other dining establishments in Sydney. Overall, I just wasn’t impressed with this place. If I found myself at The Star Casino again, I’d opt for the Flying Fish. Unfortunately, I would not dine here again.

Cannot compare with the Din Tai Fung in Shanghai or Taipei. Still very solid but not as good. If you haven’t been there this is probably a 4.5 star, but I guess I’m picky =D

The mix of people and food gallery here doesn’t make it as good an eatery as you would find in their World Square venue or even the Westfields food gallery at top of Centre point. The food is adequate, but because it’s an eatery there is less access to condiments and good service but the same expensive prices. Good for a quick stop, but I wouldn’t hang around — go to Messina afterwards and take a walk around.

5 stars because its probably the one of only well priced options(for daily food) in the star casino for what you get, which is a good thing because you don’t need to head upstairs to the main gambling floor beforehand. Another thing is that Din Tai Fung is a well known franchise with many stores in Asia so the menu is very consistent if you already know it. And last of all, it’s not cash only which is handy when you’ve lost all your money upstairs ;-)
