Cervecera Altamira

Refreshing encountering a brewery doing there thing on this level in Valparaiso. Beers drink well, nothing amazing, but happy to have this South of the equator, especially after more then a month in Antarctica. With that being said if you drink West Coast North American Beers you will not be blown away, so be happy with what you got here!

It’s a great bar. Totally recommended, to hang out, have a beer and enjoy a good time with friends in their unique architecture.

Great bar. Very rustic appearing and good music. Lots of non natives but it doesn’t have the atmosphere of a tourist trap. Servers speak english. Earl grey lager was excellent and highly recommended. Half liter glasses run $ 2500 to $ 3500 each. All prices listed on menu.

I love everything about this place. The fact that it’s in the worst possible location for a bar is amazing that more people don’t know about it. Personally, I prefer that it remains a hidden gem for as long as possible. It’s also located right next to an Ascensor. First off, you walk in and the décor is just amazing. They took their time to integrate historical info. of the space and added their modern touch.
The inside has a lot of exposed brick which I can appreciate. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor patio seating. The service here is pretty awesome too. I highly recommend before leaving this place, buying some of the great souvenirs available. From a bottle of freshly brewed beer, beer opener, etched glassware, etc. the beer and food here is equally fantastic. Definetely give this place an A+.

Un «must» en Valpo. Las tres veces que hemos venido tenemos que pasar por una cerveza y una horrillana gourmet. Quizás un poco costoso pero vale totalmente la pena. Siempre tienen nuevas cervezas para probar.

Las cervezas son muy ricas, llegan a buena temperatura y se disfrutan como entrar en cuarto de almohadones. El ascensor y las callecitas coloridas de Valparaiso le dan un marco especial a esta cervecería. El día que pasamos quizás había mucha gente y no abundaron las sonrisas en la atencion, pero el pedido llegó a tiempo y bien. Ah, un punto aparte para la música en vivo, genial.

You come here for the beer and not so much for the food or service. The beer is absolutely wonderful, especially the stout. The amber ale was good too if you want something lighter. 1^st visit chorrillannas were good 2^nd time they were ice cold. Pizzas are disgusting. I guess they have Totino’s in Chile. If your sick of yellow water passing itself as beer it’s a good place to share a bottle with friends.

An unexpected find by the Ascensor Reina Victoria. A local brew pub with excellent Beer and Food! We have been back several times and everything we tried on the menu was above the average in Chile.

Great place — friendly staff, very good burgers and fries, all 3 of the beers we tried were tasty. The chairs and tables were a bit low — but they do have high tops. The staff spoke great English. I would definitely recommend this spot for a casual lunch.

Una de mis primeras experiencias con las cerveza artesanales fue aquí. Al tiempo me enteré que había probado una de las mejores, con varios premios encima y escogida como la cerveza del año. El lugar conserva la fachada de un antiguo antro, por lo que se hace muy familiar una vez dentro. Creáme, si ud conoce Valpo recordará momentos variopintos.
Más que el típico restaurant, cervecería Altamira busca ser una experiencia desde que ingresas al lugar: hay decoración con historia de valparaíso, historia de la cerveza. Pero esto no se queda ahí, es en el mismo lugar donde preparan y muestran todo el proceso que conlleva hacerla. Te recomiendo escoger la degustación de cervezas, como plato de fondo puedes probar el crudo alemán que es muy sabroso pero no llenador o mejor aún prueba las quesadillas, ahí si quedas pochito. Si vas en la semana, encontrarás música en vivo, principalmente Jazz.
El local es atendido por su propio dueño, Sergio te ayudará en la elección de alguna cerveza si tienes dudas u quieres probar alguna variedad en particular. La atención es expedita y muy completa, el lugar cuenta con redcompra y WiFi. Además venden diversas variedades de cerveza para llevar a casa y a buen precio, llega temprano o reserva pues siempre anda lleno
