I spotted this little bistro while walking at the Vesterbrogade. There is a small menu written on a chalk bord, which makes that you get fresh ingredients. I choose the presented menu formula, 3 courses + 2 glasses of the housewine for 300DKK. To start, being in a French resto, I take of course a French apero, a pastis. The starter was a well seasoned smoked salmon dish plate. The white house wine was excellent. As main course a confit of duck with gratin dauphinois. OMG this was probably the best duck and gratin dauphinois I ever ate. The meat was so tender and the skin so crispy. There was also good use of garlic. The gratin dauphinois was well seasoned, excellent prepared. For dessert we could choose between several cakes. The chocolate cake I choose was top and a good finish of one the best meals I ever had in Copenhagen. The owner of the bistro is a French chef who clearly knows his métier. In short, If you are looking for a cosy French restaurant with tasty food at a reasonable price and a fine wine selection, bistro de Paris is the place to visit. When I was there it was fully booked. Making a reservation is recommended.

I’ve been in Denmark and Germany for almost 2 weeks traveling on business. I’ve had numerous fine meals during this time. On my last night in Copenhagen I was tired and wanted nothing more than a simple meal at local bistro. I read one of the reviews for this restaurant and saw it was a 3 minute walk. This meal was wonderful. Not pretentious like French Cuisine can be but perfect like the French Countryside. I ordered their special meal which includes 2 glasses of very good wine. I let the chef pick the wine for me and his choice complemented the meal very nicely. The lovely waitress mentioned 3 desserts that are part of the special I asked her to choose for me and instead of a sweet dessert which I don’t really care for she chose an incredible cheese course that ended with a creamy cheese. Perfect. I highly recommend it.

I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this was — I made a Unilocal account just so I could write about this restaurant! My friend and I went there at 7PM on a Tuesday night, and we nabbed the last table available. The menu is fairly short, and written on a chalkboard that they show you, which I thought was pretty cool and meant that they change their menu fairly frequently. They have the option for a set menu(appetizer, main course, dessert and 2 glasses of wine) for 300DKK per person, or you can order individually, with appetizers from 40−60DKK, entrees 150−175(?)DKK, and desserts I think 60−80DKK(all of these are to the best of my memory so may be a bit off!) We decided to order one set menu between the two of us, and then order an extra entrée just in case the portions were small, as French food tends to be. The set menu for the evening was smoked salmon, followed by duck confit and then with a choice between cake and a lemon tart. They were also kind enough to let us get both glasses of wine at once and were okay letting us share(which I know some places won’t!) NOWONTOTHEFOOD, WHICHWASPERFECTION! Smoked salmon portion was large, and quite delicious with the sauce on top. The entrée was incredible. I’m drooling just thinking about it! The duck mean practically fell off the bones and the skin was so amazingly crispy!!! The vegetables were also very flavorful, and the potatoes that came with it were phenomenal — they were coated in cheese, and I HATE cheese but still devoured the side dish! By this point, we were stuffed and warm and fuzzy with wine, but of course had to get dessert. We chose the chocolate cake and oh. My. Goodness. Amazing mousse on top of soft chocolate sponge cake! Not too sweet, not too rich, just perfect perfect PERFECT! On top of all this, the waiters were amazingly attentive, the vibe of the restaurant was very hyggliet, and the chef even came out a few times just to make sure everything was good! I’ve had some pretty good food in Copenhagen so far(I’m an exchange student here) but this one is top of my list for a nice evening out!!! Prices are decent for dinner in the city, and the ambiance and people working there just can’t be beat. Will DEFINITELY be back!

Fantastic atmosphere and great food. Not too pricy for what and where it is. Highly recommend it for dinner(since it’s only open for dinner). Not for large parties but great for dates.

Great French place a real bistro the prices are really good for Copenhagen Standards and the food is really good. I had a business dinner on which we had their 3 course dinner including 2 glasses of Wine and of course bread and water for 300 kr. The dinner started with smoked salmon salad and crème fraîche of course the best salmon in the city from Letz Shop it followed by confit de canard which for me it is the best state of duck ever and of course baked potatoes in duck fat for dessert we had a chocolate cake a la crème delicious! I will really recommend it the ambiance is calm with good French music the service is decent and it is quite relaxed and quite perfect for a quite evening or a business dinner. I definitely recommend giving it a try. By the way the wine list is also very good and the pairing they make with the food is very good. The place has also specialty products for wines. The whole decoration is all about Paris, super cool paintings on the wall.

I saw this place listed close to my hotel, so I decided to try it out. It is right on Vesterbrogade, which is a larger street. I still found it difficult to locate though, so don’t be discouraged if you can’t find it right away. It is there. The menu changes every day, so they have it on a chalkboard in the restaurant. The service can be slightly slow at first, although they accomodated me reasonably well once I sat down. What makes this a special place is the fact that it serves fantastic food that isn’t typical of Denmark. I had a lamb dish, with a tomato-based sauce, that was simply fantastic. The lamb was more tender than anything I’ve had before in my life. The flavor with the combination of meat and sauce was simply fantastic; tangy and substantial. A filling protein dish without a lot of carbs weighing things down. Loved it! And this was a one-day-only recipe. The place is chef-driven. These are his recipes. Depending on when you go, there’s going to be something equally unique. So you can go back several times and feel like it’s a different restaurant each time. When I went, it was fairly full. Several tables were occupied; a sure sign that the food is good. And after a week of Danish food, Bistro de Paris was a nice change of pace. And a good one at that. I can’t find anything wrong with Bistro de Paris. You should visit if you are in the area.

I was wandering up and down Vesterbrogade and side streets on my last night in Copenhagen looking for a place to eat dinner. Bistro de Paris’ menu changes weekly and with the seasons. Its sandwich board outside displayed a special pre fixe of starter entrée, main course of the day, dessert and 2 glasses of house wine. At 300DKK(US $ 45) it’s a good deal when main courses could go for 175DKK alone. Good meals are not cheap in Copenhagen. The bargain hunter in me forced me through the door. It was about 9PM, a late hour for dinner(it seems restaurants close early in Denmark). There were only 2 couples dining. The staff was apparently in the back, so after a few minutes awkwardly standing there, I asked one of the couples what they thought. They were regular patrons and said everything is delicious, and especially enthusiastic about the pre fixe deal which they said I should go for. Since no staff were about, I left, checked out other restaurants, and ended up coming back. The couple was the only one left, but the waitress was there this time. She was friendly and personable. I’m so glad I returned! The interior is unpretentious and not froufrou. Seated in the window seat so I could read while there was summer evening light, which lasts forever here, I felt like I was back in Paris. Even though I was dining alone, the bistro ambience is cozy, intimate and romantic. I read and watched the people on the street stroll by while they watched me dine. The couple had finished dinner but got up and played the piano for a bit. I ended up having a glass of white and red wine each, both very good French wines. The fish soup was stunning. The stock had so much flavor and depth. Definitely try the fish soup even if you don’t get the pre fixe. The main course of the day, Coq au Vin, did not have a lot of meat, but enough to satisfy. It was plated beautifully and tasted hearty and delicious. The au gratin blew me away. I never had such buttery, fluffy and tasty au gratin before and I complimented Chef David when he came out and stopped at my table. As I finished, unexpectedly I was served cheese and grapes. That was a nice touch. The waitress, I’m assuming the chef’s wife or family, let me choose any dessert from the display. Actually she chose after I couldn’t decide which ones but described what I liked. The layered raspberry torte(I think. see my photos) was a perfect ending for my night in Paris… I mean Copenhagen. Almost disastrous was a couple with two temperamental toddlers that came in and sat down. The whining and crying was unrelenting and totally broke the ambiance. They should have eaten at a diner instead of an intimate bistro. Luckily they ate quickly and departed. I was the only one left in the restaurant and I didn’t mind!
