My husband and I arrived in Bayeux late in the afternoon. We had no dinner reservation & our hotel clerk helped us finalize our selection with«absolutement, Le Pommier.» Reservations would have helped but I said I didn’t care if they tucked us in a corner.(They did) We made our selections from the chef’s menu. I had pork filet mignon & my spouse had bream. Lovely service. Beautiful evening. Save room for dessert.

In Bayeaux looking for a good restaurant? try this one! We were a party of 7(with two kids) and I can tell you everyone was super happy with their food. I had the duck and it was out of this world good! the only complaint was that we were in the back in a very warm room. They tried to open a window, but it kept banging closed… they should fix that for the summer months.

Food was very average and service was below average. I had the chefs special fruit du mer salad as an appetizer. I ordered because of the sardines mentioned but when it came it was devoid of sardines and the waiter got a bad attitude because I asked for them. They returned with 2 sardines. My daughter’s green salad was a clump of green lettuce(it was«green» salad!). We were the first patrons of the evening yet our food arrived after about 4 other tables — a full 1 hour and 20 minutes after arriving. Nothing special was requested that should have taken longer. The staff seemed distant and aggravated as many French servers seem to be with Americans. I don’t understand it especially here in Normandy where we should be welcomed.

This was absolutely the best meal we had in France. I eat at a lot of great restaurants so my standards are high(Michelin and Bib Gourmand). The service was impeccable and waiters speak English and were very helpful. Their fish was fantastic! If you are in town, check this place out!

Great ambiance and friendly staff. My meal was great, the sauce that was put on the veal was fantastic. It was great dipping sauce for the fries. However my wife’s steak was $ 28 euro and it was so fatty. She probably was able to eat only half of the steaks size. The apple dessert that came with the dish was also very good. I wish the steak would have been presented better because it is definitely a 4 star caliber restaurant. But with the pricing being so high, you kind of expect more.

This was one of the best meals we had in France. I am not sure where the negative reviews are coming from — perhaps we hit them on a good night. Service was great. Food was even better. We had a small salad and split the fondue/bread entrée, then onto plats of fantastic steak in mushroom sauce. For dessert, we had a wonderful apple sorbet ice cream, that was served with a nice brandy compliment. It lost one star due to the price, but the service was very good, and they were very accommodating despite our late arrival at close to 10 pm.

Boy was this disappointing. The menu looked great, the staff was pretty good, but the culinary execution was pretty bleak. Whatever meat was ordered was overcooked, regardless of the actual temperature request. The food itself was purely average, certainly not worth the price. Even the desserts seemed to be substandard. The food was edible and average, which is why it gets a two star(as opposed to a one star). But there are far too many options in town to have to resort to this place. Of all the meals we had during our visit to Bayeux, this was the least memorable.

A recommander A l’ombré de la cathédrale et dans la bien nommé rue des Cuisiniers se trouvent le restaurant Le Pommier. Dans un cadre de grande classe, Le Pommier vous présente un grands choix de plats normands et de poissons le tout avec un touché bien personnelle du cuisinier. Menu à prix abordable(menu découverte) et vin au verre adoucissent la facture. Il n’y a que la bière en bouteille que j’ai trouvé exagérément chère. En conclusion, un établissement à recommander lors de votre passage dans la capitale du Bessin.

We had a great dinner here. The people were friendly and prompt especially considering there were only 3 people working the entire restaurant. We started with toast with crème fresh and marinated shrimp. We ordered from the Taste of Normandy selections. Our appetizer was a combination platter of whelks, prawns, periwinkles, and oysters. One main course was the duck and the other was the fish in a crème sauce. For dessert, we had a wonderful apple tart with spicy ice cream.

1 er restaurant de mon week end normand entre amis. Recommandé par le petit futé on y est allé tranquillement. La déco est sympa, nappe et serviette en tissus, assiettes et carafe d’eau décoré de pomme. On a fait simple, chacun un plat principal. Moi suprême de volaille, tripes à la mode de caen pour le deuxième du groupe, et le troisième plat étais des St Jaques. Mon suprême de volaille étais agréable, la sauce faisant toute la différence. Pour les tripes perso je déteste ca, mais mon elles ont été apprécié c’est le principal. Les St Jaques étaient vraiment le meilleur des 3 plats. Le service est bien, accueillant et agréable. Que 4 étoiles parce que il manquait quelques chose de je né sais quoi c’est comme ca :)
